    It's how he utilizes the WHOLE instrument to where he shows the necessity of all 6 strings.Tony is just flowing freely over Anthony's foundation. Love it!

      Where on earth does rock come in to it? I think that comment was made by a classically trained pop musician! 😅 (Players of this standard stay well clear of noise like rock, pop and most other "normal" styles of music.) Even fusion jazz styles that have rock or funk in the name bare more resemblance to simplified forms of jazz or modal jazz than the style it may be named after or have within the name.

    Specifically, this Fodera AJ is the best prototype of all AJ's Fodera. The best "Anthony Jackson's" SOUND after Fender "Career girl". This bass had ash body, probably the best wood for bass with more personality and i'm not 100% sure, ebony fingerboard

    • @jackieclark8253
      @jackieclark8253 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah! I totally understand your point on the quality of the bass but his sound is pretty consistent on nearly all of his recordings...even with the Fender jazz he used in the beginning to the Smith/Jackson,to the Foderas...the Fodera might be a better quality build than all of em but that tone has remained a constant over the years.

    • @jackieclark8253
      @jackieclark8253 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you look at a few of my video clips..I'm playing several basses of different wood combinations and aside from one bass being a lil brighter than others, the overall sound is consistent from clip to clip unless I'm doing something extra with eq....Of course my clips are a bit boring compared to his!! Hahaha!

      Well if you don't dig it, then don't as you do. I find it brilliant, he is truly an innovator with a unique sound. As a seasoned top session and jazz/fusion player with hundreds if not thousands of sessions and tours under his belt, this guy can groove and play in the pocket like no one can, the indisputable GOAT of serving the song with the strongest sound, groove, solidity and maturity. The utmost definition of a bassist. He is doing something different here and he is influenced by Messiaen and other modern, contemporary composers. Certainly a narrow cup of tea. Now if someone does not "get it" and pretend it does..I feel sorry for them

      @@ctdvargas Haha. I’ll ignore the filler then!
      He’s finding some very interesting intervals and rhythms that are pushing the boundaries of the instrument and boring dull cliché. The harmonics at the beginning are beautiful and surprising. Don’t think for a moment that this guy can’t play pretty. He chooses not to when he wants to. What I think about it is just my opinion and I’m no way a measure of what anyone else wants to think about it. As an American you will understand that if the market doesn’t want it, it goes in the (as you say) trash.
