    Anyone watching this, my family is from Sardinia. Most still live there. We do not eat meat and those that do don't eat much of it. Mainly it would be seafood (fish) all of our food is grown organically.

    Actually, the natives of Ikaria, (spelling edit) the longest lived in the Mediterranean, go to bed at about midnight. Not with the sun, as in Gundry's story. Greens make up the largest proportion of their diet. However, they eat only about 1-2% grain products, and only about 10% fish and/or meat. The next major food group after their staple greens is "other" vegetables, followed by potatoes, and beans and fruits. They also like red wine, and a little white wine. They eat a very little goats cheese, and some yoghurt. Everything is cooked in olive oil.

      I agree. One other thing that seldom gets examined is how many calories Blue Zone people eat. I would love to find some research on that aspect. One hears quite often how reducing caloric intake slows metabolism. Well, there is ample research that shows that when we slow our metabolism, we also slow the aging process. This has me intrigued and I am currently searching to see if there is a link.

    His information is outdated. Okinawans ate mostly purple sweet potatoes after the war when their livestock had been lost, but before then (and as soon as they could after the war), they ate lots and lots of pork. Fish is of course also very popular. Pork and fish are common to most of the "blue zones" (but I wouldn't trust that label, it's been trademarked and bought for 78 million dollars by a group with specific financial interests).
    The place with the highest life expectancy in the world is Hong Kong. How's their meat consumption per capita? It's also the highest in the world, they more than twice as much of it as the USA. And they eat huge amounts of animal products on top.

    Dr Gundry
    Big fan I read unlocking the keto code your new edition
    Where does longevity land after that that was all about breaking down the cells
    And getting healthy
    Not eating to much protein and giving your body a chance to recover by fasting so back to longevity still polyphenols because we're talking about cheese and MCT oil and unlocking the keto code leaning towards cheese are we back to polyphenols for longevity or fermented foods like cheese
    Or does cheese have blockers like other
    Fermented drinks
    Is it polyphenols or is it the fermentation that's given the blocker
    Wine, Cheese MCTs and olive oil..for longevity?

    • @ryandlion6961
      @ryandlion6961 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the cheese some are more fermented then others, with the olive oil only specific ones I think would have a better fermented aspect the ones that are less filtered and have more olive leaf and pieces in it, I didn't know mct oil was ferm. Very interesting, wine is about 50 50 both those things being healthy in it. But you want a " natural" wine otherwise upwards of a 100 additives.

      I think that's the new age Mediterranean diet you are referring to that eats a lot of meat. The traditional Mediterranean diet is eaten more within a smaller population of people now (shrinking more and more no doubt). I think this traditional diet has much less animal products just like all the rest of the blue zones. There are differences of diet within each of the blue zones depending on where the people live. Like for example in Sardinia, some people who live up a mountain are consuming goat milk and thriving, while the Sardinian's at the bottom of the mountain are doing cow milk and aren't doing as well.

      I second that it does not have a lot of animal products in the diet. Animal product foods are eaten occasionally or sparingly, not regularly. I'm Italian, traditional italian meals are mostly vegetarian.

    • @BigSlimyBlob
      @BigSlimyBlob 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JohnnyWalkerBlack142 The "Mediterranean diet" doesn't exist. Some researchers loved the idea that people in that area lived longer because of their diet, but when they went to record what it was, they quickly discovered that there was very little in common between countries when it came to diet. So they basically made up a new diet that mostly matched existing beliefs on nutrition, and added olive oil. Olive oil companies started to organize nutrition "conventions" (which were basically just luxury vacations in Italy) and researchers and journalists kept being treated to these luxury vacations as long as they kept pushing olive oil.

      Predators are carnivores and have completely different digestive systems than humans. Predators dont develop heart disease because they are biologically created to consume large amounts of fat and protein. Humans are not carnivores. Any species that is meant to be a primarily plant consuming species, will develop heart disease from excess fat. Please pick up a book on biology and taxonomy. From first hand experience, I almost died from gallbladder disease in my 20s and drastically reversed the disease on a low fat vegan diet. I went from hospitalized to feeling normal in a WEEK.
