When barry was gone into the speedforce, it was just Wally and Cisco...While they both were in the field fighting meta-humans, Iris guided them through comms from the star-labs. She left journalism and led the team for like six months. When Barry and Caitlin and everyone was back in the team, they readily accepted Iris as their leader probably because THEY DIDN'T WANT TO LEAD as they had other responsibilities and because they all trusted Iris' leadership and decision-making abilities. Thats how and why she became the team leader. Is it really hard for people to understand this?!
Even though this season has not been a favorite for me, I love how the cast members seem to have a blast doing the show together!
