- Dylan Farrow says she's felt ignored for years after alleging her adoptive father Woody Allen sexually abused her. Allen has denied the accusations and has never been charged with a crime. In her first TV interview about the allegations, Dylan told "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King she's speaking up again to have her voice included in the Time's Up and #MeToo conversations.

wherever you stand on this, the fact remains that WA went through a legal process and was found innocent, so for the anchor at the end to say how much she admires Dylan's courage in speaking out is tantamount to saying that WA is guilty. As I say, whichever side you believe, you either accept due process or you're effectively opting for Salem witch trial legal process.
You would be surprised how much gray area there is because of the difficulty needed to convict someone.
While I agree to your point to a degrre, to imply that gray area is useless is quite a thing. There is much more to round out about this topic.

Im sorry, but I watched the whole thing, and something about her, I don't like..she's "fake crying" making boo hoo faces, and even wiped away a fake tear! I was sexually molested myself, from the time I was 3 until I was 6... So while I am sympathetic to people who've been through this, there's just something I can't put my finger on, about her that rubs me the wrong way!

Either she's lying or by being coached at such a young age, she's actually transformed what she was being told into what she still believes to be genuine memories. Of course, a 3rd alternative is she was actually abused but no such evidence has yet been discovered.

Allen says he isn't a child molester yet he was having an affair with a young adopted daughter. That gets me every time. It makes my skin crawl!!!
That was before my time. They even said Mary was much younger than Joseph. All I know is I can't get behind a man that goes after his adopted daughter. That doesn't sit well with me. Others might be able to be able to look past that but not me!

Amen to both your statements. I have never really been a fan of his movies. I think I only watched one. i must not be the artsy fartsy type that goes for his movies.
I looked up the case. The evidence points to that he did not do it.
(1) He has no history of it.
(2) His own step son said recently that Mia Farrow made it up.
(3) The video tape made of the child was editing which is highly suspicious.
(4) He supposedly did this when he was on a visitation due to the break up and when Mia Farrow was furious.
(5) The judge threw it out.
(6) The child's own psychiatrist (who'd been seeing her for years) says Mia made it up.
(7) The child's brother says Mia abused him as a child and coached her.
(8) False allegations commonly arise during custody battles, and there's a whole history of cases of child abuse memory implantation by parents in children: one needs to wonder not if that can happen but whether Mia Farrow was capable of it -- someone who concurrently stated in public that she was "perilously close to a genuine meltdown of [her] very core."
(9) The accusers have been unable to get a single third party to reaffirm the allegation; they've only succeeded in getting two individuals to "question" the Yale report, which explicitly states Allen's innocent.
(10) And of those two people, a higher level appellate trio found one "in error."
(11) The other one's the guy who picked the Yale group in the first place and touted their experience -- until its conclusions destroyed his case.

Is it much easier to adopt in the US than it is here in the UK? Because I just don't understand how Allen was able to adopt two children with Soon-Yi given his circumstances. He was 63, had an extremely dysfunctional record of family life *and* it was plastered across the media, lost a custody battle to keep his kids and was only granted supervised visitation rights to see Ronan, and a judge denounced him as a very poor parent. Same for Farrow's continued adoptions.
In Britain you have to jump through myriad gruelling hoops to adopt and face a barrage of searching questions. My friend who wanted to adopt was asked if she still harboured resentment that her own parents had sent her brother to university but not her. Not even on the same planet let alone ballpark as regards the Farrow-Allen unresolved family issues.
"A Family Matter"- it is a criminal matter.

I agree. They should’ve pressed charges if they truly believe she was molested. They could still file a civil lawsuit, but they won’t. They know they would lose the case.

At one time I was prepared to go along with the “Dylan believes it” line but I don’t even think that’s the case now. Such a horribly unconvincing performance.
The horror show of the Allen v Farrow “documentary” has pretty much stripped away whatever credibility the Farrow’s had with regards to this allegation. And while its not great to see people on here who haven’t or don’t wish to look beneath the surface of this case, spouting “I believe you Dylan” every other post, at least the distinction between both sides of supporters is glaringly obvious. Not guillable vs guillable.
So what exactly is the new evidence that we have now with respect to the past?
There is no 'new evidence'. Heck, there was no 'old evidence' either.
'New' is the #MeToo bandwagon, which some people are all too eager to jump. And not always for the right reasons.

In my book, a 'denier' is a person who denies what is evidently true. What Dylan Farrow says is not evidently true. It is at least disputed, and you might even know that it was thoroughly investigated by multiple parties, and the prosecutor found no base for a formal accusation and trial. So the only rational thing to do is to conclude that what Dylan Farrow says is not evidently true.
You are free to believe her story, of course. That is totally up to you. But you are not free to call people with another opinion 'deniers', let alone 'awful deniers'.
You're wrong about the prosecutor's decision. He found cause, but elected not to put the fragile child thru a trial. But you're right about labeling unbelievers as deniers. I think anyone who knows anything about child sexual abuse might be more inclined to wonder what you're afraid of?
Maybe she's telling the truth, maybe not. But the real tragedy here is that the reporter just presented the story as if it was absolute truth without asking a single in depth questions that might have revealed any clues or truths about the matter.

I believe that Dylan has every right to be angry at the adult who apparently abused her by making her young life turn around this allegation of sexual assault.

The Allen vs. Farrow case is tabloid fodder indeed. Yet there is a bigger interest at stake. Though the #metoo movement started out with the noble aim of ending sexual abuse by powerful people that was hushed-up, there is a risk that the movement perverts into witch hunts, neglect of the facts, an 'always believe the victim' principle, excommunication of critics, etc.

I have broken my silence of the abuse by our mother and my healing began after getting away from her. I can only hope that my sister can do the same to finally heal. You're assuming the assault happened. Her brother wrote "So many times I saw my mother try to convince her that she was abused - and it has worked." Why is it ok to completely dismiss her brother's statement? Also, something to think about when the Doctor asked where she was touched, she told him her Shoulder. Later, her mother kept reminding her to say something else.
And the rest of her siblings say it DID happen. She's 32 years old, not a child anymore. She knows if she was molested at 7 years old or not. This was the Farrow family home, not MK ULTRA or Gitmo where a person's reality and memory becomes warped.
Yeah well marrying one of his adopted daughters sealed the case for me. If he can look at one daughter with sexual intent then why not another ?

Though I support women coming together under the umbrella of 'me too' I have major concerns and problems with judicial due process being abandon in many cases and instead the case being heard first and only in the court of public opinion. If you listen to Gayle's words (or the words of the other presenters in this programma) it is obvious that they think they 'know the truth'. That is what makes this CBS tranmission rather political than informative.

And a problem is: the presenter's don't seem to care. They don't seem to mind that they shove only one side of 'the truth' down our throats. Apparently, their 'care' about how to do that effectively. Makes you wonder what kind of conversations go around at the CBS desks.

1. Soon-Yi was NOT Allen's adopted daughter. She was the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and André Previn.
2. Allen was NOT a 'father' to Soon-Yi, and Soon-Yi not a 'daughter' to Allen in any way. Soon-Yi's father was André Previn, and this stayed that way throughout her childhood.
3. Allen was NOT married to Mia Farrow, and did not live in her household to which Soon-Yi belonged.
4. Allen and Soon-Yi had LITTLE OR NO contact throughout her adolescence. It was at the instigation of Mia Farrow that, after Soon-Yi graduated from high school, she and Allen spent more time together.
5. Their romance did NOT start until Soon-Yi was an adult of at least 19, and probably 20 years of age. The couple got married when she was 26 or 27, and this has lasted as a stable and harmonious marriage until today.

There are a big number of people who has been "falsely" accused. Maybe it happened, maybe not. A raged woman /mother like Mia Farrow hating her husband with every fibre of her body... and a vulnerable child. I am not sure my own very uneventful childhood memories are true, nor should someone else. Even if we really feel this is the truth, it may very well not be.

Apparently, the goal of this news item was not to be 'fair and balanced'. Sometimes the invited party demands that other parties are excluded from the programme. This seriously hurts 'fair and balanced' reporting.
They were not even in the same room during the assault, so that is hardly the point.

Okay no one would have repeated the same lie for this long. Especially about something like this. Talking about getting sexually abused by your father(whether its biological, step or adoptive) can be really difficult and shameless. The fact that she has stuck to her story all these years and kept talking about shows shes telling the truth especially considering shes got nothing out of it. His career and reputation are still fine. He did not get punished in anyway. If it was a lie, she would have let it go seeing as nothing was happening to him so its just not worth it. People get tired of telling lies but they never get tired of telling the truth and of fighting for it.

To be quite frank, I really do not care. If you were THAT well versed at psychology, you would have understood that other things can add to a person's emotional makeup, sometimes within moments of speaking about something totally unrelated to what has just upset them.
