They are legends soooo much they influenced many popular people are inspired by them. The Damned never got their full anttention and never spoken too much for their music and Dave style.
Glad the original line up are back in 2021,welcome back rat and Brian.dave liked Prince at the time hence the really horrible purple pants and jacket....????
Saw them twice live that year. LOUD and they'd take all their old repetoire and a whole bunch of covers, LA Woman, We Love You, Too Much To Dream, Eloise and just batter them out.
I lived over the road from Dave Vanian in the North London suburb of Crouch End. That was when he was married to Laurie. They split up and Dave married Patricia Morrison from the Sisters of Mercy.
@@suicidebysasquatch4873 not much, no, but I did see him in the foyer of Wembley Stadium when we both went there in (I think) January '91 to see the Sisters of Mercy playing live. That was shortly after the Sisters released their _Vision Thing_ album. That gig was literally only a few days after the album's release. Captain Sensible had moved to Brighton and lived there for a long time. A friend who moved to Brighton to open a t-shirt printing shop became quite close friends with the Captain. All in the past now. My hair is no longer dyed black.
@@thepanel2935 interesting...I've known who the Damned were for many years and Apart from New Rose and Eloise I hadn't taken the time to really listen to them until last week, now I see why they are so loved and can also see they have influenced so many bands musically and style wise it seems Dave was ahead of his time..I just pieced together that his 2nd marriage is to the woman who married Jim Morrison in a Wicca ceremony..I'm a bit curious about Vanians personal life. Are there any books or biography that you know of and which albums are best..I know that's a matter of taste all I have is a best of Damned cd which has got me humming to Smash it up,neat neat neat, and Disco man is fkn magic especially the Captains version ..New Rose I've always loved..
@@suicidebysasquatch4873 I don't know of any books or biographies. I know Dave worked as a grave-digger before he was in The Damned. I also know that I used to get a creepy vibe whenever I walked past his house in the dark. No kidding. I was working nights and would get home before dawn. I would get off the bus and walked along the empty pre-dawn street to my place, passing Dave's house on the way. The feeling was strange and a little intense - like I was being watched from inside the house. At the time, I didn't know Dave lived there - I'd only moved in a short while before. Then one day, I happened to be walking past his house (in the daytime) with my flatmates. I mentioned to them that I'd always gotten a creepy vibe from the place and that's when they told me Dave lived there...

You`re probably a grumpy old man too by now but even worse when you realise you haven`t had half as much fun in your life as Dave and Rat have had....That`s probably your problem already.
"Let's look at 'Is it a Dream' now."
"Why?"
Rat is a mood here.

Love Dave's suit and purple boots. Rats are even better though.
He liked Prince at the time and they played prince alot while on tour at the time.
That host is painful...oye.

Wish they'd tour the united states or divided states either way, wish they'd play here
He always liked purple, it was the fave color of his first wife Laurie too, she made all his clothes.

Did you see much of him back then living close by?

Showing loyalty in supporting their mates band SSS as opposed the vastly superior JAMC
The interviewer is clearly nervous and afraid of the two...
Lyle Lovett interviews The Damned! 🤘
“Good day” That bit was funny
Geeky nerd TV presenter.."What we`ve got now is a new U2 single and its got Bono on vocals"..........Rat: "I wonder why?"
Clannad, but still 😂
FFS, did the real presenter not turn up that day, so they had to grab the trainee catering assistant to fill in?
Loll, looks like it! ;)
VANIAN: Gentleman. SCABIES: Wanker......
Takes one to know one.
Rat Scabies sounds like a grumpy dated old man even in 1986.
Sad really.

? I think he's hilarious. He's just playfully ripping the piss out of people. Doesn't sound angry at all.

I never angry, I said grumpy and dated. He must be even worse now!
