    Ha ha. Great review! I actually worked and developed Runaway Roller for Waddingtons in the 90s and I agree it's not one of their better games. I think it was Waddies answer to Shark Attack, which it didn't match in quality. The factory in China making the roller didn't get close to the required standard but there was no time to resolve issues before launch. Thanks for posting this, your video was a great (albeit slightly embarressing) trip down memory lane 😂

    cracking channel this mate i go visit my mother everymonday with my dad and because of your channel you reminded me i had games like mouse trap...crystal maze in the attic and also found wimpole village & cluedo hidden away on my search haha
    also a fav of mine ghost castle but sadly like you say in the video some pieces very fragile and my axe has fallen off LOL

      Man I've not thought about Wimpole Village in about 30 years! Crystal Maze is fun game still, find it better than the new one they released not too long ago. As for your ghost castle axe, can still get replacement bits on eBay for that game

    The vibration and shake of the roller is what makes it so great and anxiety goes up - heart attack in box a box is perfect. Maybe something about it reminds me of brave little toaster, the auto junkyard scene, maybe it's the big shaky smiling face bearing down on you

      Yeah, the roller looks like something straight out of The Brave Little Toaster!

    "Heart Attack in a box" LOL
    That's great. I agree. Looks amazing, but a rare "miss" from Waddington in quality components.
    Glad to see you back on brother! We need to chat again soon!

      The track not fitting into the board elevates the roller just enough to not immediately catch the bugs, you may have noticed a couple of shots of them being pushed along. Definitely need a catch up, it's been a while!

    This is like a spoof off the song from the UK Punk Rock Band The Addicts," My Baby Got Run Over By A Steamroller"! 😄🎸🥁🎶❤️

    Well Luke from the Down from the attic I think the best way to manage this challenging game is to use dice trays & dice of d6's to have a better chance of out running that machine.

    Why is the box for this game so big when there's so few components? Lol 😂

    What a pity that the track doesn't fit! Doh! How'd they not pick up on that during testing?! I still need the middle section of track to be able to play my copy (if anyone has that piece spare please get in touch!), which is a shame because it looks like a lot of fun!

    • @downfromtheattic
      @downfromtheattic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah they really dropped the ball there with the track, affects the game. The roller has these rubber strips on them and the back of the play pieces bases has a little hook of sorts, that's what's caught with the rubber strip on the roller. But with the track not being flush to the board, it elevates the roller just enough in places not to catch that hook. It still works, it still flattens them but yeah, is disappointing for sure. Good luck finding a track piece, I could take measurements of mine so you could get one 3D printed maybe?

    I once had this game I used a marker to mark the game pieces bases with a different colored dot

    This needs a reprint production cycle and I am sure 21st-century tech would make this a lot quieter.

      @@downfromtheattic Iʼve seen you effervesce about Ω before. 😁 When you mentioned the difficulty in getting moments of quiet - well, letʼs just say that as much as your narration and music tracking are appreciated, that game would definitely call for additional audio recording!

      @@Erik.Miller oh I’ve not hidden my love for the game, Matt Wilkins, Bernardo and myself did a stream last year on our top 50 vintage games... Omega Virus is my #1, it’s a fantastic game. And yeah, Runaway Roller is a noisy one. Filmings not so bad with standard games but anything with sound effects or motors has been tough to get filled lately. Have a few Modern Classics I want to look at and few vintage scripts written too

  • @vincent9329

    Dude I think the stem the pegs are like an upside down T right? So I'm thinking that maybe you put the top of the T part of the peg into the hole as you showed right and then you slide the T peg into that other part of the slot nah mean mate? So put the T pegs in and then slide them back to fit in the track slots. Does that work that way? I'm just trying to be of help mate. 🙂

    • @downfromtheattic
      @downfromtheattic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, they're incorrectly spaced, plugging one end in makes the other end misaligned. The track isn't symmetrical with it's tabs so it's not like you can flip it round and see if it fits that way, it's just poorly designed. it's just a matter of wedging it into the holes as best as you can
