This should be a 5 hour documentary for such a massive/challenging project. I was a mechanic on a Robbins 35' TBM building the Chicago Deep Tunnel project. Assembling machines like this on the surface is a challenge....putting them together and taking them apart underground is another level to say nothing about the danger.
I've been in the industry for over 3 decades and I am constantly staggered by the efficiency of Mammoet in projects around the world; Their reputation is; If it's giant, and needs to be handled, We got it! Before the internet there used to be trade magazines like Heavy Transport. The Trade magazines went more in depth into the equipment and logistics...Kudos to all you companies that make the impossible; possible...
The alternative to removing the cutterhead for repair was working from the inside of the machine, which would have taken about 3 or 4 years to complete.
