Thanks so much for watching, and I hope you enjoy Part 2, coming soon! It was a great river, such an awesome experience! Of course, it helps when you have great friends along! 👍
@@RileyOutside that must of been a little heart pounding! I'm super excited to get Keeva into the canoe this spring. Or next month if this weather keeps up.
Thanks so much James, I appreciate it! Let me know what you think of Episodes 2 & 3. And don’t worry, I’ve got your Moose Rut series lined up for viewing soon too and will be happy to share feedback 😁
Awesome work with the drones! We are hoping to do the upper half in 2024! Loved the lower half. Beautiful section of the river...rapids, to winding river to pickerel...nice to have an expert like Dan with you! Wish we had one..hA!
Thanks so much! You’ll love the upper - great section of river to run! And yeah, I loved having an expert like Dan with us; it helped me feel more comfortable running whitewater. I look forward to hearing what you think of the upper portion of the river. 👍
The upper portion was great.. quiet, we basically did not see anyone during our paddle. Late July, Early August, biting bugs were no an issue, great swimming, fishing, and beach campsites (for most of our journey). Water is lower so we had to pull a few times, but we expected that...and were ok with it...with the kids we didn't want to take on the high water. We spotted a ton of fossils, saw a bear, and a moose, and had fun in the gypsum caves..and the train ride back was an added bonus..great adventue, you will love it! @@GreybeardAdventures
It sounds like you had a really great time! We only saw a few people our whole time on the upper section, so the solitude was nice! I’m looking forward to doing the lower half next year! I had no idea there were gypsum caves?! But it sounds neat!
Absolutely fantastic!! So well filmed, edited and narrated! Stunning scenery from different perspectives- in the canoe, from the river’s edge, and beautiful drone video. The story-telling is wonderful and leaves me wanting to know what happens next. Very impressive and excellent video. I enjoyed every second of it!!
Awesome! Did I hear you call Lyra “puppy girl”? That’s what I always call my dog Indie, lol! Lyra and Riley have met my Indie. Looking forward to part 2!
Thanks so much for watching! I probably did call Lyra “puppy girl” LOL She’s such a sweet dog and great in the canoe. Riley has done a great job of training her. 😄
Eric that intro was fabulous! So many good memories tucked into this one. Those first rapids. The bugs. THAT STUPID THUNDERSTORM (I was so scared lmao). Dumping in sun rapids and you can see Lyra's look of "oh crap" as she gets stuck under the canoe lmao. That footage of Rob and Dan playing at the end was good enough to make me want to buy a drone (and the playful music with it was lovely) Nice job
Thanks so much for the kind words of support, Riley! It was definitely an awesome trip filled with so many incredible moments! Looking forward to the next big trip :)
Pretty cool. I would love to do rapids but not sure how to get the experience. I hate bugs. For that reason, I do not venture into the wilderness til at least the second half of August. How do you deal with them? Just spray?
I didn’t have much experience with rapids before this trip. Taking a few lessons helps get the ball rolling, then just get out there and start applying what you learned. As for bugs, I hate them too, but I deal. I hate bug spray though, so I mostly just put up with them or use my bug jacket and bug tent.
Nice video. Sorry if I missed it but could you say what time of year this is? Looks like decent water flow so I would guess late June or very early July.
Thanks! You’re absolutely correct: we started paddling on June 29th and ended in Mattice on July 8th. We had really decent water levels, especially considering how dry the conditions were this past summer. Great trip! Beautiful river!
I’m not actually certain what brand the second one was. The owners, Rob & Deb, picked it up for cheap and made many homemade repairs to it. They did an excellent job though as it held up for the duration of the trip! Kudos to them for bringing along a solid boat 👍
This was end of June and early July. Decent water levels (even in a dry summer) and horrendous bugs (though what can you expect in the backcountry!?!) Are you planning a trip down the Missinaibi?
You have some beautiful footage! Thank you for sharing and I’m waiting for the next part.
Thank you very much Cheyenne! Your kind words are appreciated 😊
I just found this. Awesome video. That is such a good river to paddle.
Hey Kevin, thank you so much for the kind words of support. The Missinaibi is definitely a great river. Now I can’t wait to do the lower section!
Great coveeage! Thanx 4 taking us along! I wanted to do the Missinaibi a long time ago but never did! Looking forward to part 2!

Nicely done Eric! Looks like you had a ball! That one huge smile on day 3 says it all! 😎👍👍 Aside from the bugs, I would have loved it! 😅
Thanks Ron! You got that right - great trip and the most whitewater I’ve done, loved it! 😁
Très beau mon ami! Un voyage superbe! J’attends avec hâte la prochaine épisode.
Merci beaucoup Guy, très apprécié!
What a great trip so far. Loved the footage and glad the dump had a happy ending. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! I’m happy the dump wasn’t any worse too LOL
Not pictured: Lyra getting sucked under the canoe, then diving to swim herself out from under it

@@robintheoutside yesssss I want to hear about that 🥰

What kind of boat is the second green tandem? I see the Evergreen - but the other make/model isn't visible...

Held together with melted home depot buckets haha@@GreybeardAdventures
@@RileyOutside Yep haha! We nicknamed it the Acorn Squash because it was green and orange like one 😂
In what month did you take this trip?
