    Valid criticism from the person saying that 'small kits' like this aren't good for a lot of jobs...yeah, you aren't going to use this kit to build a fence, change a tire, or chop down a tree - but it could certainly help you change out a starter on your truck or motorcycle on the side of the road and get you home, make an electrical repair, or help a friend fix a home appliance or assemble something they just bought.
    It could certainly be a weekend saver if you took it along on a trip to some place remote and were able to make a repair that kept you from having to cut your vacation short to resolve the issue.
    I'm all about having the 'right tool for the right job' and roll my eyes at some of the gimmick multi-tools you see in some of these kits that, IMHO, aren't even worth carrying.
    That is not the case here.
    This kit is chocked-full of EXTREMELY useful and versatile tools that will easily slip into a pants pocket, center console, saddle bag, or side pocket of a backpack.
    Great balance of functionality and portability. 👍

    My opinion on tool kits. Tools give you options. The more tools you have the more options you have. Some tools are better than no tools. Each person should have their own EDC to fit their needs.

    Very well thought out kit John. Got choked up when you mentioned your father giving you that tool set, I lost my dad 4 days ago suddenly. He gave me a set of Allen wrenches just like yours. I’m going to build a kit like this. Thank you for the inspiration.

    Excellent small tool pouch! Obviously the person who made the negative comment has never been in a situation with NO tools! I can tell you,that after having been stuck on the Ohio river with a broken down outboard motor and having to carve a stick to insert into the carburetor where the air mix screw had vibrated out and then had a steering cable break as well as a dead battery to boot, I would have been very glad to have a small tool kit like yours! (It was a bad day! Lol!)

    Hi John, I LOVE, LOVE your tool kit. The zip tie trick is highly ingenious and made me laugh so hard. I also like your SEIKO SKX. I have one just like it SKX 009.
    ONE CRITIC: You missing a magnet. Preferably get the antenna magnet with a pen clip.
    John, May God bless you and may life be good to you.

    Thanks John, I love how you find ways of storing extra gear in places most wouldn't even think of. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for smaller tools now to build my own; all I own are large tools. I think I'll keep my Leatherman screwdriver bits in my kit as I find it too much to carry it in its' own belt pouch .

    Great little kit! Small tool kits are super handy. That's almost the exact same setup I carry in a small 10" tool bag for service plumbing work. The bag is larger just in case I need room for parts. If the problem happens to be too big then I can grab full sized or specialty tools.

    @ Survivalresources , Hi John, Long time no see, I met you at a PathFinders Gathering. Great small tool kits. Very Common Sense. I made a tool pouch around my Leatherman Crunch, Surge, SpeedHex & Speeedfit 1/4 and 5/16 Drive Bits. My tool kit is very complete and bloomed into 2 a pouch kit. My tool kit blends right in with my truck tool kitand its heavy duty tools. Thanks again the great video. Peace out Todd.

    Great package! I got some ideas from it:) I did one like it, a while back I realized there was a whole lota handle in that so I got rid of most of the handle-padding, that was a bunch of weight and thickness, I used the exact same maxpedition pouch. Just sharing ideas, I think these things are fun because no matter what you do there's always ways to tweek it, there is no perfect pouch. lock pickers are always a nice add, surprised I've never seen that on one of these videos

    thats a nice kit you made. but i think you could add a leatherman surge with the bit set that way you could replace a lot of your tools maybe nearly half of them plus the surge will have things like a scissors and at the same time you get space for other things you want to add

    • @JDMSurvivalResources
      @JDMSurvivalResources ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t put a multi tool in the tool pouch as the kit is not on my person. I carry a Leatherman Wave with complete bit set and bit extender on my belt everyday. That is my first go to. If I need more, I can then go to the tool pouch.

    • @willidevegt8831
      @willidevegt8831 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JDMSurvivalResources i understand. i just say if you had a leatherman surge you could make gone of the cutter - the saw - the file - the knipex pliers - the bit kit in other words most of the tools you have in your pouch come with the leatherman surge. now that i know you got a wave maybe i should say change your wave to a surge and you can take out many things from the pouch and exchange to other tools. But to each his / hers own before i forget thanks for your reply on a 3 year old video

    This is an amazing compact tool kit. Besides the obvious. What makes this kit so good is it's based on real tools, not a multi-tool like a Leatherman or Gerber for example. Not knocking multi-tools. I just think real tools are a better option for a tool kit like this. Too bad some of those items are no longer available.
