great video take. i've visited japan twice and as a brown guy, ive never experienced racism. i've only visited tokyo, osaka and nara which have more tourism so maybe it is different in the countryside
Thank you for your comment! As mentioned in the video, Japanese people are generally welcoming although some people have xenophobia. Anyway, It's great you haven't had a bad experience in Japan!😄😄😄
It's more to do with the number of tourists that go there ,yet show no respect for the traditions or cultures. There are areas that will no longer allow tourists because they have caused so many issues.
That's not true, as an immigrant living in western-europe I've never in my life experienced racism before. That's because society here is more diverse and people just get along. In Japan however you have a homogeneous society where racism happens in the form of exclusion. That's why you hear so many stories how people from the west who tried to live in Japan leaving after a couple of months because they've never felt so alone in their lives. Because Japanese people are really shy and afraid of direct confrontation they won't tell you in your face that they don't like you just because you're a foreigner. Your statement "Racism in the west is way more dangerous" is utter nonsense and not based on facts. In what way do you mean "way more dangerous"?
My friend there are plenty of channels of nice respectful foreigners who either moved there recently or have lived there for a decade or more who not only have documented the racism and discrimination, whether intentional or not, but have shown that even mixed japanese born citizens are ostracized and discriminated against. Not saying that all your people do it, but you need laws against it, its not good for mental health being ostracized and discriminated against, people commit suicide because of it and it keeps other people who have learned and integrated into the japanese culture from being financially successful. The only reason some people stay is because they have a good little nest of friends and family that are supportive they dont want to leave, and/or they are financially secure from prior ventures in prior countries. I appreciate your investigative efforts but you should look into these other channels of foreigner's talking about their experiences in Japan, it isn't all negative, some of them are pretty positive, and theyre nice when pointing out the negatives of being foreign. I have considered visiting but I want to go if I am to have people who truly want me there, so far, it doesn't seem that way. For now, I'll consider other countries to visit, I'm sorry.
As long as you work in subordinate positions, there are no issues. However, when you step into strategic roles and positions, you might begin to experience discrimination.
As a person that never went to Japan, I watched some vídeos about the theme and I find some aspects to consider: 1. Smell - some foreigners may use a “lot” of parfum 2. Volume - some foreigners may speak too loud And it may cause some reactions like avoiding foreigners. I went to Thayland and I have 0 issues. Probably because I respect other people and their culture. For instance many tourists drink alcohol openly in muslin areas - a mistake that I avoided at all costs. In some societies, people hide their intentions (and racism) with a layer of politeness. I think this is the case in Japan AFAIK
I've seen the same complaints on YT. They are typical, I guess. Drinking in public in Muslim countries - it's out of the question for sure! it is not only disrespectful but also risky, dangerous behavior that can cause big trouble...😅 Thanks for being respectful!
@@janki3353 It's still discrimination. You could say you don't rent to black people in the U.S. because they have a higher chance of doing drugs and causing problems based on statistics but that'd still be insane discrimination. If someone has a work visa, no criminal history and the income required, they shouldn't be allowed to be rejected.
@Benisbucker it's not discrimination it's called being a realist.. My uncle in Japan owns an apartment complex and it happened to him many times where the foreigners actually leave and he actually loses money.
I know! It may often be seen in Japan. BUT! It's not only against people from other countries but also among Japanese people for slight differences each other! It can be like, their preferences, lifestyles, working styles, mindsets, the way they speak, and anything!😫😫 It's the weakness of a homogeneous society.
No racism in Japan. I would like to add that a foreginer will never feel part of Japanese community because of how Japanese people think. However, it is not racism 💛
@RealVoiceTokyofromTaku Whatever lol. I feel like I'm getting too old to care and life is short. And honestly, from I've read , Japanese are not really having children anymore. And more and more they're government is relying on foreigners to come in. They're a dying culture. Ironically though a lot white Americans live them
I am 20 years in Japan. I felt racism only once. It was the time I wanted to rent a house. The real estate company showed a nice room to me, which I wanted to rent. I expressed my desired and then I went back home, but after a while, the real estate company contacted me saying that the house owner did not wish to give his house to a foreigner, despite I was fluent in Japanese and I had completed my Master in Japan. (In Japanese). The real estate employee was really sad about that, he apologized to me (it was not his fault), and finally showed me another house. Also, I know that a small percentage of Japanese have a problem with foreign people. The majority of Japanese people are kind and honest people. But a few xenophobic Japanese exist, so be prepared.
I never found a Bangladeshi who said anything bad about Japan. But they somehow complain about rest of the countries. Bangladeshi people usually hate the western culture, only reason they want to visit western countries for work and money. But somehow even Muslims from Bangladesh doesn't say anything bad about Japanese people. I don't know why? 😮
I think it's true. I've never heard a Bangladeshi say anything bad about Japan either. By the way, I got sick and went to see a doctor at a clinic in Dhaka while I was traveling in Bangladesh. I was surprised - the doctor I saw studied medicine in Japan! I couldn't appreciate him more. He even spoke Japanese. 😂😂😂

Thanks for your positive impression!😀😀😀
Generally racism in Asia is not the same type of racism in the West . Racism in the West is way more dangerous...
I haven't lived abroad but I hear such news from time to time... 😥

Try finding a place to rent on your own as a foreigner, you’ll see discrimination.
I've heard of that too! I'm sorry for that...😫😫😫
Thats not discrimination, its logic. Why rent to a population that has a high chance of leaving and you of losing money? Its simple economjcs
