      Love all your videos. You both do a great job showing how spacious each RV is and all the storage each one has. My hubby and I prefer couple campers and have been considering going full time once our kiddos move out.

    The MSRP are out of control. I know they have large discounts on those but even suggesting that the Venture Sonic Lite is worth almost 40?!? Thats a 25k trailer tops

    • @Erin-Thor
      @Erin-Thor ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Look at some of the RV dealerships and they have “Posted discounts” of $7-9k, meaning that they still have room to beat any other dealerships offer if needed. Like ALL sales, the American rules hold true, caveat emptor and charge whatever the market will bear. They don’t post their lowest prices except perhaps during RV shows where it will cost them money to ship the thing back.

    • @RVBlogger

      Truly hoping the market corrects itself soon. I know "show prices" were drastically reduced this year.

      @@Erin-Thor well maybe the fact the show prices were so low according to Mike and Susan maybe that's a good sign but some are absolutely outrageous. 40K for Murphy bed and a toilet?! come on

    Here is my question/suggestion for camper mfgs, when will you ever start using weight saving materials that last for a long time? These sizes are perfect but a 20' trailer that weighs 6k lbs and the roof needs replacement in 7 years if left outside. Might help with resale values over other brands. I love the features and options but I'm not a buyer from the bigger manufacturers for these reasons.

    • @Erin-Thor

      $, $, $. These are mostly meant to last through the warranty period… then good luck! 🍀

    • @RVBlogger

      Would a weight saving material that lasts a long time be fiberglass? People criticize the cost of fiberglass too. I agree with Erin. Like with automobiles, they don't want them to last forever. Thanks for watching and commenting skiffman10!

      Skiff, lightweight fiberglass travel trailers are available to the market, just not at local Rv dealers. After years of typical Rv hassels, my wife and I discovered Molded Fiberglass Rv's. They are mostly marketed direct to consumer and have a crazy loyal following, check out Castia, Scamp, Escape, and our current one Bigfoot made in British Columbia. Not cheap and I would imagine that you won't see many while out adventuring.

    When we were looking to upgrade our camper it was between the coachmen that Mike reviewed and the rpod. We decided on the rpod. We like that the bedroom is separate and that the bathroom is large. We did do some mods to it like installing a popup plug in the kitchen and adding shelves in the bedroom closet. Mike didn't show it but it does have an outside kitchen with a mini fridge and grill.

    I like the Coachman Northern Spirit most. I'm too lazy for the Venture Sonic, it would always be a bed, or I'd be sleeping on the couch. The Forest River just has too many things that don't really work well, as though they haven't been watching your channel, taking your hints. I was going to say, that soon you won't have to tell us what kind of fridge it is, because no one is using the absorption ones any more.... well, almost no one. Love the layout/features of the Sonic. I don't like a dinette so the sofa/Murphy bed is great, although I detest short queen beds. The fridge is good sized and there is more counter space than expected. I would turn the cooktop north to south for more room.Bathroom is large (love the wardrobe!) But would prefer a bigger shower (would be okay w/smaller vanity).The Coachmen NS has a great layout. ❤the kitchen! Would like to see adjustable shelving in pantry. The underbed storage is excellent! Not a fan of corner showers! Being disabled I need room for a secure shower safety chair. The R-pod needs some work to modernize to meet needs of today's campers, IMO. First, please ditch the dinette in favor of a sofa or theater seats. I agree it needs better/more outlet placement. Mike, I 100% agree with your comments about kitchen needs. Use a power tower in the counter for a safer outlet location! The wardrobe cabinet is very good and I love the fireplace. Switch to the 12V fridge. Not a fan of the short queen bed and no cabinet storage in the bedroom is a big miss! However, this is one of the best bathrooms I have seen in any trailer! Large, rectangular shower, closed linen storage, nice vanity and medicine cabinet.
    All three are crazy overpriced!

      @@Erin-Thor I had a new Everchill. Mine was diagnosed as normal, holding temps for safe food were intermittent at best. We through out hundreds of dollars in food twice. Also if you have any minor drop in voltage while plugged in including high power like a/c the drop in voltage affects cooling. Also without a very robust and expensive solar set up, how do you boondock? This was my real world experience for 3 yrs. My buddy is an Rv dealer and he said he gets a lot of complaints.
      I would NEVER own another 12 volt fridge.

I did not upgrade the single cheap 180w solar panel. I tried to do it myself on the cheap, as you can but a lotta propane for the $20,000 they want for a full Solar setup. I bought 3 x 100AH li-ion batteries for just under $1k each, now you can buy a single 320 Ah battery for the same or less, LOL!

    Nice reviews as always! I noticed that a lot of RV manufacturers are going to the 12v fridges as you mentioned. I'm just wondering how well that works for boondocking. How long will the battery power the fridge before it needs to be recharged? I wonder if a single solar panel would keep it charged enough to keep the fridge working?

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi AI D,
      Great question and the answer is that 12v fridges are perfect for boondocking. Our 12v fridge uses approximately 6 amps per hour when the compressor is not running so if you had a 100 amp hour battery you take 100 and divide it by 6 and your fridge can run for approx. 16 hours on the battery. If you have a single solar panel on the roof and its a 100 watt panel it will add about 8 volts per hour under perfect sun strike which only lasts about 30 minutes a day. But it will add about 60 v per day so eventually you will need to run your generator to recharge the battery.
      We just added a solar system to our rig and we will be making a video about it very soon so keep an eye out in the coming weeks for that.
      Thanks and safe travels!
      Mike

    I just wish they would have bigger showers for older people to feel comfortable in. We're not slim anymore and would appreciate more room in the shower. I think the ideal size is a 38 square or corner shower.

    I think the last one was the best, although it needs a few adjustments……
    The kitchen wall at the back the sink and the stove have to swap places, the stove rotated 90 degrees to open up counter space without having to move the power outlet to the outer wall. They could also move the microwave/convection oven up to above the stove area and use the current microwave location for bigger storage.
    There should be a couch where the dinette is since it is across from the TV.
    I like the mid bathroom. Too many companies put the bathroom at the back of the rig which means you have to walk past other people on the way to the bathroom…..
    Like I said, a few changes.
