WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU, VERY, VERY MUCH, FOR DEMONSTRATING AND PERFORMING SUCH A WONDERFUL "SURF" MUSIC TUNE!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS "SURF" MUSIC, AND THE VENTURES!!! MAY GOD BLESS YOU, ALWAYS!!!!!!
You do bring back a lot of memories Tom. Thanks so much. Just last night on the phone with the widow of the gentleman that started the Doo-wop band I was a member of in Stratford Connecticut years ago and she was asking me about that particular song... Evidently she listens to tapes we made way back when... Thanks again
Thank you for keeping Instro rock alive. PS: Recorded in 1962 by The Routers (actually the ‘Wreaking Crew’ with Tommy Tedesco on guitar), it went on to become a huge ‘pep rally’ call and response at Football games. The Ventures version with Nokie Edwards on lead guitar was the version I first heard in the Seventies. In 1979 The Cars hit "Let's Go" not only includes the same rhythm beat but also the same name as Elliot Easton was a fan of The Ventures too.”
One of my all time favorites. I learned to play the song Let’s Go along with Pipeline as my first two Ventures songs in the 60’s when I was a kid on an old Harmony guitar. You have some parts that will help me play the whole song correctly. Every time I pick up my guitar I warm up with the song Mexico which you uploaded a few months ago. I know what I will be doing this weekend. Thanks again Tom….Dale
Those speedy runs really remind me of how tasteful a guitarist Nokie Edwards was. Very impressive! I hope we can get your rendition of The Cruel Sea 🌊 sometime in the future 💜🖤
Thumbs up !!! well done. I believe it was then Bob Bogle who played the solo part. Tom !! you've played 98% of what is in the recording except 5 notes of the ad lib part between 1:27 to 1:29.
I use a strat and a mustang amp for tones. I would love a real tube amp and a jazz maybe some day. I love surf guitar because i can't sing lol. I use your tabs a lot thanks so much!
Whoa Dude. Great lesson. Better cover with the key changes than the original which unfortunately I'm old enough to have played with the pickup band in our dorm. Thanks. Fran
In the early 60s there was a thing called " The Columbia Record Club" where you could have a dozen records for 0,99 cents. That's where i got almost all my Ventures record + R. Nelson, Dion and many others. My favorites Ventures was the first Lp "Walk dont Run" and this one LP " Let' Go", "Runaway", "New Orleans". I think you play those tunes equally if not better than the Ventures.
I find your videos and performances really interesting! Most importantly keep the surf rock I love alive! :) :) Have you ever thought about doing something from "the eliminator", like "lonely surf guitar" or "down patrol" for example?
My dream if my Strato could sound like that. What should I need to buy to have that effect? I have a Frontman 25R. What do I need to add to sound at least similar like surf music?
Btw,Mr Conlon, can you play The Ventures old song Shanghai and Machaw which I hope the spelling are correct. and hope you can play ithese two songs. Thanks.
Very well copied. Again no solution at or to the end as Ventures (Nokie actually) have not solve except fade-away or abrupt ending. Your effort should be solving this ending. Once you solved it, you surpassed the original play by Ventures, then well worth presenting your Let's Go worldwide. I consider this piece playing the best of all (several hundreds) played by Ventures. Again with only dissatisfaction of mine - no solution in ending. Can you find your solution?
@@tomcon21 Ok, I lost my response somehow, so let me reply again. Just think how easy and awful if Ventures ended The Flight of Bumble Bees abruptly without the most beautiful ending of all Ventures tunes. In facts, there are so many "fade-away" in Ventures. They don't present their version of ending to those fade-away (i.e.studio-recorded) tunes, mostly abrupt and unsolved. So there are so much to be done to Ventures players. Just copied so nicely and that's all? ... Not to me. I already heard their original by Ventures, so no need to hear a copy. I listen to those on TH-cam, expecting something new and expanded from the original.
My goal is not to do something new and original with a Ventures song. My goal is to accurately cover The Ventures with guitar tabs so that others can learn and enjoy the songs. Thanks for watching.
Any day with a new Ventures cover is a great day!

Thank you for keeping Instro rock alive.

Tom Conlon what amp are you using? Speakers?
It’s a Fender tube combo setting in Logic Pro. Like a Twin Reverb.

Great job, Tom! Reminds me of being at my high school's football games. (Unfortunately, my alma mater is no longer in existence.)
Wow, I have that version on their album "Golden Greats". Your tone is awesomely almost an exact duplicate. Nice job!
Never heard that song before it's kind of basic but then goes full on mental at times. Kinda reminds me of my mother in-law actually...lol 🤣
Fantastic!
I believe Mighty Manfred of Sirius XM uses this as his show’s intro theme.
Grandioso Tom Ya tengo todas tus pistas , para cuando sale la 11, la estoy esperando
you look great tom la rola greetings from Mexico
