Thank you Sir for your informative videos, I ended up buying a 2025 5MT this year after watching your series of videos on the versa. The car is phenomenal at any price under 40k, it’s a shame so few people are willing to learn manual or even buy a small reasonably priced car these days to the point where even Nissan is killing the Versa off. My other cars are a bit older and somewhat more furnished but it’s so nice to have a basic, simple, functional car with a fairly nice row-your-own-gear set up
Thanks dude. Mine is a manual 2025 and it has everything I want and nothing I don't. I, like you have restored a bunch of cars and this is something I have never experienced before... get in a car, start and drive. No worries about reliability.
Good video as usual. Yeah, I agree, what makes some people really aggravated? Why else would they act like such sad sacks? 😮 I enjoy learning about this late model Nissan Versa S manual and you are good at teaching the willing populace about those cars. Simple as that!
The people that complain like you explained are "the younger set" they don't realize what we have now, compared to back then. because they weren't here to know the difference. I much appreciate your point of view. Well said!
Thank you for your videos. They helped me make up my mind to buy a new Versa last August. Very happy with it. I will say, however, I wish it had the folding seat and Android Auto. I would have been happy to pay for the options, if Nissan would have made them available. No excuse for that, in my opinion. But I like the manual Versa.
Came for Versa, left with powerful quotes. Totally agree with the "Appreciate what you got" You really don't know how bad some people have it in other places.
@ do you have a video on maintenance intervals you use-mainly for the gear/clutch fluid and how long other things have lasted on previous Versas. (Brakes/suspension etc). It’s a great simple/analog car
@ Although I've owned 4 of these Versas, I never put enough miles on them to warrant that kind of maintenance. I will probably do brake/clutch fluid every 3 years, and manual transmission oil every 30K on this one.
In 1989, I bought a base Nissan Sentra. No power steering, no power windows/locks, no intermittent wipers, no r/s rearview mirror, no radio and back then a/c was optional on all trim levels and was dealer installed. The a/c was the only upgrade I got, I put a stereo in myself. If I remember correctly, all said & done, the car was 9k. The Versa is a steal imo.
I came here for the versa, stayed for the life lesson! I currently drive a 2006 rav4. Although not a manual transmission, at least it starts every morning and it just goes. I would love to have a manual car one day!
I love cheap basic manual cars! Great value! I would buy this in Canada but the manual isn't available :( ...i would also prefer a 6 speed, 5 speed is ok but 6 is the best of both world for less engine noise at highway speed... keep spreading the good word! :) Maybe these could continue being offered over here, crossing my fingers!
Nonetheless, in Canada you do get the 6MT Sentra and not just in the base model like we do with the manual Versa here in the states, For 2025 You can get an SR trim Sentra with a 6 speed manual and a hand operated parking brake in Canada. You get more features available with the SR Sentra and you get the 6th gear, plus it is a roomier car.
I own this car and a new Mx5 Miata and I love them both. That being said I have almost as much fun in the Versa and I have tons of space. I feel lucky to have gotten the opportunity to buy these cars before they don’t make them any longer with manual transmissions or at all. I got the Versa for $16k otd and the Mx-5 Miata for $26k otd for a total of $42k for both!
That na 1.6 is very well tested and its port injected. You wisely avoided the cvt. It’s a fun cheap driver with the added engagement of manual. If you’re a REAL car guy you get this car. I do. I sincerely believe it to be a 250000 car. Peace and love
I test drove a 2018 versa 5mt because there isn't any 5mt versas close to me yet. I liked it, noticed a lot more road noise than my '06 Corolla. Overall i liked it. Clutch was very forgiving but squishy. Is the road noise improved on the '24 model?
The only thing I do not like about my 2024 Versa S 5MT is a rattle between the light fixture and the radar camera next to the rear view mirror. This is more pronounced when the weather is cold and the engine is revving at around 3100 RPM in 5th gear. Nothing too major. Rattles are not unheard of in high end luxury German cars so it is something that can be had in this car segment.
I've been thinking about proactively replacing my current daily driver, a 2008 Fit(5M) and my only complaint I'd personally lodge against that Versa 5M is the rear seat not folding down. I've grown used to being able to squeeze larger stuff in my small car. Any idea if that'd as easy a fix as finding the rear seat back out of a "nicer" Versa and swapping it in?
Looking at the stats for a 1986 Corolla five speed with a 1.6l engine. 102 horsepower and 9-60 10.2 seconds. Higher horsepower here and about a second better 0-60.
Those are the same folks who say shopping for a used civic, camry, A5, Maxima, Prius etc is a better car for the same $ than ANY BRAND NEW subcompact cars (Mirage included). Too bad 25’ Versa manual can’t be had for 17k OTD :(

Thanks for the comment and congrats on your Versa! I think the rumors about Nissan killing it off may be fake news.

We are like minded. I share exactly the same life philosophy, enjoy what you got, enjoy the moment, don't lament what you don't have!

Congrats on your Versa! I am surprised by how many people have told me they bought one because of my videos. Thanks for the comment!

Just got a 2025 manual this month. Love it. Simple like driving a 1990 VW Golf
Congrats on your Versa!

Bought my 24 5mt because of this video series. Got back in September, now at 13k miles ☄️
Thanks for sharing!

I like those square body Sentras! Thanks for the comment!

Still loving my versa MT 2024, about to hit 18k miles
Awesome! Thanks for the comment!

@ Funny how they choose very different options for slightly different markets
I love when you got into life lessons haha. Made this video feel a bit more like a heart to heart.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The versa is as interesting as a microwave, it get the job done, its a good basic transportation, thats it.
Nice video, greeting from Uruguay!
Greetings! I take it you've never driven one of these with the manual? It's surprisingly fun to drive.

I think the tariffs could kill the Versa. I was hoping to buy another one, but we will see.

Sadly we're in the era of a bunch of spoiled little children. I really would love to get my hands on one of these.
Agreed. Thanks for the comment!

Yes, the newer model is surprisingly quiet for what it is, and a significant improvement over the pre-2020 style

I think I may have the same rattle. If I push on it, it quiets down for a while. Never bothered me enough to take it to the dealer.
@ Same. A little annoying but I can live with it.
The Mercedes S class has an optional 31-speaker audio setup. This doesn't even offer 30. 😂
LOL!

I've not looked into that.
60 mph at 2800 rpm. Did you forget to shift into 5th gear?
It's in 5th gear. Lots of people complain about that.
Looking at the stats for a 1986 Corolla five speed with a 1.6l engine. 102 horsepower and 9-60 10.2 seconds. Higher horsepower here and about a second better 0-60.
Speaking of 1986 Corollas, I'd love to find one with a diesel
Guy, you're a poet and you don't know it !!

Too bad 25’ Versa manual can’t be had for 17k OTD :(
Yeah,, the days of getting crazy discounts seem to be gone.
sou l is far superior
It's also like $3500 more expensive but the worst part is you can't get a manual
