@0331usmarine Army OSUT: 13 weeks. Army shoots pop up targets with an M4, Marines shoot targets that sit still with an m16. Marines Snipers train longer, because they also train for Reconnaissance hence the name Scout Sniper, while the Army is just plain sniper. Army sniper course has a higher drop out rate than Marine Scout Sniper school. They are both good at what they do.
@MrDanielcabriales they dont beet the rangers berets or the seals the recon group is still new and they are still perfecting their training, they are like babies
@TheMegakill boot camp is all for a reason you are stressed out in war so boot camp brings the stress to you so when you are in war you will understand how to take the stress and to keep a level mind. The Marines are the only branch that still train warriors the rest adapt to the times and give you the comforts of home in basic but that comfort isn't in war or in life so the marines are the only one left who still believe that wars still need to be won.
@J0SHakaMARINE its harder then it looks, just the start to even being considered for recon is a high asvab score, then 300 score pft.. shoot expert, etc.
@DCfreak87 Oh well say that next time =P.But no Force Recon has more or less been fully integrated into MSOR. It's still a unit, but it's not, "I'm going to join Marine Force Recon",it's" I'm going to join MARSOC and attend Recon training and hope I get put into Force based upon my skill level".
@ranger12392 personally the army has the 82nd airborne ,101 airborne,173 airborne, and 10th mountain division infantry which have very high standard and are great fighters and dont take people like that and personally i think these infantry units are as good or better than any marine infantry units but if u feel marine infantry is way better i respect your opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111
@0321Hitman When did I say all Recon did was Recon?I said that the marines have plenty of units that are able to do DA and Recon isn't the top "special operations group" so to speak in the marines. The Marine special operation battalions are, and that's a FACT. Also Rangers have had more successful missions than any other unit in history, they are known for getting the job done. So don't try to say they are ALL bark. Many of them go on to win Marathons and succeed outside of the military as well
I feel bad for the daughter's boyfriend(s)... "Yeah I was in 1st RECON. Oh, you're not familiar with our line of work? It's no big deal. We're just experts in the application of violence. Don't fuck with me, young man... I will end you. Now you kids have a good time. Remember, home by 2400 or the Team is coming out of retirement."
@DCfreak87 Dont disrespect the rangers bro,I can guarantee you they get in more Taliban's faces than Recon does(since the point is to do recon). Also "Force Recon" has been deactivated, this guy is in Division Recon most likely which is apart of the MSOR(Marine Special Operation Regiment.)The remaining Force members have been intergrated into MSOR as operators. If you want to compare someone to the Rangers in the Marines,it'd have to be the MSOB's.As they are the DA/CT element of MSOR.
@chimichanga1254 Better educate yourself Son. Recon occasionally trains w/ SEALs. And no, I'm not some "arm chair" warrior shooting my mouth off. Far from babies, they were formerly known as "The Marine Raider Battalion" back in the 40's. Took on the roll of Recon during Korea(perhaps before, not 100% clear on when). I talked to a Ranger once home on Leave & had nothing bad to say about us Marines.
@TheMegakill Well it has eased a little but not much and the only reason is cause the people that have never been in the Corps believe that the way that the recruits are being treated is morally incorrect. They believe that the recruits are being miss treated. If ever talk to a Marine and ask them if they think you are missed treated in boot camp they most likely will tell you that its because the Marines are finest fighting force in the world and in war nobody is nice so the training in
@geocuneva Actually the basic Marine straight out of Boot camp is better trained then the Army's Infantry. Marines are trained to shoot first ask questions later the mind set a Marine has is more intense then any infantry man of any other branch and the fact that army basic is fucking pathetic now, the drill sergeant dont yell at you, you get cell phones at night, they get like a fucking buffet for chow. Where as the Marine Corps basic has eased up a bit not much are still creating fighters.
I'm confused... Why do people treat the special forces like they are some sports team? Stats are for the sports teams, so how about you guys chill out!
@0321Hitman I was in F2/6. I'll agree w/ your first part of the comment, that's documented, about the "per man" thing though,.....I don't know,.........not argueing. Just havn't seen proof on that.
ranher school has nothing to do with the 75th ranger regiment it is just a tough leaderhip course u can go to ranger school but never serve in the ranger battalion to be in the regiment u have to be airborne qualified and then go to rip which is 8 weeks long once u complete that u are a ranger but if u wanna hold a leadership position u have to go to ranger school.and by the way a marine infantry man is no better trained than an army infrantry man
there is most definitely a force recon that is not a part of marsoc. there was a force platoon that was integrated into the bn on that deployment. please dont spew ignorance and pass it off as gospel
@BattleRattle1775 Alright, I'm definately not in the military, and I respect both soldiers and Marines...But a BASIC fresh out of boot camp Marine is Ranger qualified you say? I think you may have gotten a bit excited...I mean, what exactly do you mean by Ranger Qualified? Because if you're saying what I think you're saying then well, you just made an outrageous statement.
This is my uncle so anybody who says anything disrespectful about him or his platoon has to deal with me CB you can even begin to know what he goes through so keep your disrespectful comments to your self he's a hero and you need to show him respect
@ranger12392 I did think before I speak. You're not military, your attitude wreaked so bad of it I could smell it coming out of my speakers. And I'm neutral, I don't really care which branch is "better". Just kinda gets on my nerves when someone isn't even in the military spouts out BS. Sorry, just saying it as it is.
I know you was 7 months ago but, we go back home and train, train, and then when you think your done....you train some more. You do have leisure time but, if your in the infantry or like these guys FR you spend a lot of time out in the field.
Welcome home SSgt. We are proud of you and your Marines.
Larry is a good dude and steeley killer. I'm proud to not only have served and mentored him, but to see him out there doing things the right way.

@0321Hitman Actually the first special forces unit ever were the British Commandos, the Raiders were formed a year or so after I believe.
@MrDanielcabriales they dont beet the rangers berets or the seals the recon group is still new and they are still perfecting their training, they are like babies

@VBH8888 I wouldn't know but I think they pop back down also, and you're also timed. I'm just saying, it's pretty equal.
@J0SHakaMARINE its harder then it looks, just the start to even being considered for recon is a high asvab score, then 300 score pft.. shoot expert, etc.
this guy reminds me a lot of my uncle: father of 2 girls (ones now inn the air force) and has been in the Army their whole life
This guy is 1st
damn thats one badass navy seal
@DCfreak87 Oh well say that next time =P.But no Force Recon has more or less been fully integrated into MSOR. It's still a unit, but it's not, "I'm going to join Marine Force Recon",it's" I'm going to join MARSOC and attend Recon training and hope I get put into Force based upon my skill level".

@StettB26 you don't have to have a 300 their speed nor do you have to shoot expert
@DCfreak87 Dont disrespect the rangers bro,I can guarantee you they get in more Taliban's faces than Recon does(since the point is to do recon). @0321Hitman let me correct myself, the recons are the marines version of the rangers, recons are better than them other than that no
oohrah!
civilian contractor work. there are benefits to have a standing valid security clearance
True! The bad of the badest. Army Green Beret.
@geocuneva Actually the basic Marine straight out of Boot camp is better trained then the Army's Infantry. Marine division recon, not force recon. Kinda a difference.
