When people ask me how long I've been painting portraits I typically will say "well, I drew my first portrait when I was 9, and I just never stopped." So, as I turn 70 in a couple weeks, it's been a long time. Even though I've watched countless TH-cam videos showing portrait demonstrations, always trying to improve my work, I must say Scott's videos have been the most beneficial to me. From not "swishing" my brushes in thinner to focus on painting contours of the face your advice has really helped me improve. Thank you so much!
I’ve watched tons of painting tutorials yours are the best I never comment on anything but the way you break things down and value I get from your videos trumps everything else out there. You are a sage for those seeking deep understanding of art. You just don’t hold back. Thank you
YOU GIVE TO THE WORLD GOLD FOR FREE ....THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR PRECIOUS KNOWLEDGE ...THE VIDEOS ABOUT THE EYES WAS AMAZING ...NOONE EVER EXPLAINED IT SO GOOD ....
The way you talk about light and color, separately and together, in relation to form is mind-blowing - like a light bulb exploded in my brain! I was painting while listening to this but ended up frozen just watching your entire video. Like the reason why foreheads are typically more yellowish, and why reflective light could have high chroma, and where the highlights go and why answered so many questions for me. You don't just teach the 'how' but most importantly, the 'why' and everything just makes more sense now! I will see you on Patreon because your way of teaching (and with humor!) just makes sense to my brain. Thank you so much!!
Man I just did the best watercolor portrait I’ve ever done following this tutorial. Foundational information with excellent delivery. Can’t wait for my oils to get here 🎉
Thank you so much for such precise and detailed explanation on the nose structure, which I agree is one of the most important part of portrait painting.
I studied Illustration at a commercial art school and we drew rom models and studied anatomy etc. but I love your instruction and I learn new things and tips each time I go to your channel. It is awesome and you are a terrific instructor! thanks!
Thank you, Scott! For me, one of the biggest mistakes I've made with the nose is making the nostril hole too dark. Thank you for explaining the intricate details of how to improve on this!
Fantastic, I love it. I follow you to the T. Diagrams and everything. I am starting to understand the planes and forms of nose. Thank you. Continue your good work.
Max Verstappen?! I was just drawing his face because, well, because he’s got a super interesting face. And here he is! Thank you for your videos. I’ve learned so much in less than an hour- I’m excited to have found your videos. And I’m also excited to see Max:)
Thank you so much.....I really appreciate the quality of your instruction...you have already helped me reduce and focus my palette leading to improved skin tones. I think about form so much more and although I have so much yet to learn through hours more experience I am inspired by your generous teaching. 🙂PS I do need to find your information on creating the cast shadows....do I use the same colours or introduce blues as has been suggested or that i might have done in watercolour?
Thanks for this im depth tutorial Scott! How much paint do you load on your finer brushes? Do you use a different dry brush to diffuse? When do you mix in mediums?
Tnx for good videos, what i really nead is ti know which color number/name collection I should use for each part of face , cause u only use them but for me its not obvious which color they are so it would be great if u make a video and talk about colors u use for each part of face tnx
Grazie Scott per condividere il tuo sapere e talento. I also have been at university in Florence I did architecture, have you also stop for capuccino and cake at cafe San Marco? Ciao Jackie
One of my problems in painting is hands, not drawing, but really Painting. Is possible to show how to do it, about this subject , can be interesting. Thank you .

Hey Scott it’s me Scott ackerman I was wondering if I could commission a series of vampires based on your favorite vampire movie from college. Jk anyway glad to see you still painting I do all my commissions in procreate these days. Sometimes people call it art which make me laugh gleeful while seal clapping like a small child.
Dude lay off the coffee. As a retired Illustrator, you're driving me nuts. Get a job doing medical illustrations. Less talk, more painting. #unsubscribed

Thak you~~!!

Thanks for the video. I have troubles painting nostrils it always ruin my work.
I am relating all of this to dog noses and portraits. Lacrimal bone relationship should really help with eye placement

HOLA SALUDOS Y BENDICIONES
ME GUSTARIA SABER QUE MARCA DE COLORES USA?
Excúsame prof!, Can you tell me , what blue is , you use ??
Desde Bogotá Colombia, por favor sube los vídeos con subtítulos
Legend please
Good tutorials. I only have one question, why do you keep looking over your shoulder? Just curious.
Do you use paint right out of the tube or do you mix some medium with it? It looks so creamy while I’m watching it.
I’ve wondered the same thing!

🤔Hello Mr.Weddell I have a question about your videos...Why can't we turn on subtitles...
que pena que no hay opcion de poner subtitulos...
reminds me of Richard schmid style
This is a funny topic. I don't think the question should be how to paint better noses, but how to paint better PAINTINGS.
I hope you don't mind, I gave Lashauri a suggestion.
🙏👏👏👏👏…….
You are right handed on one side and left handed on the other view. Must be a mirror image somewhere.
The one feature I really hate painting for some reason.
atleast auto subtitle pl
I like to paint eyes but not noses, eyes are windows to the soul.
