I was recently looking at a 1725 5-string viola. They existed in the 17th century (Bach wrote for the 5-string viola), but I've never seen one from that period.

My dachshund/terrier doggy from Louisiana, our darling 8 yr old 'rescue' mut we have for 4 yrs now, starts to howl in pain on E string and higher up. It makes for tough practising! Thank you! Some dogs are unfortunately finicky when it comes to different frequencies. Some also seem to be allergic to poorly tuned instruments, for some strange reasons. Thanks for sharing 😍😍

Where can you buy a viola low F string?
Short arms more of a problem on viola than short fingers. But the longer scale makes intonation less tricky, especially in the higher positions.
