I bought a $500 Klipsch subwoofer back in 2006. I had never heard of the brand but the salesperson raved about them so I jumped. Well, about 3 years later, it completely died. I took it in for repair and they said the amp was dead and it wouldn't be worth fixing. Therefore, I'll never buy another Klipsch product. 3 years is ridiculous and I didn't even use it that much. I actually just bought this SVS sub. I'd like to add one more feature not mentioned. Customer service. I have called SVS twice already. I've never experienced such incredible service. The woman was incredibly knowledgeable. In fact, I was telling her about problems I've had with my new Denon receiver. She pulled up the manual for it and was helping me with my receiver. She knew more about it than the Denon reps. knew! I don't know about you, but I am willing to pay more knowing I'm getting a 5 YEAR guarantee and access to service like that. By the way, Denon has been a disaster to deal with. No more Denon for me. Horrible service.

A succeeding series "1000 Pro" has been released by SVS, now with adjustable DSP by smartphone app. I wouldn't buy Klipsch SPLs any longer. It's not worth the ~150 bucks saved. You get both inferior technology and cabinet design vulnerable to chuffle and resonances when choosing Klipsch.

I've auditioned the Klipsch R112sw, RSL speed woofer 10s, and the PB1000, the Klipsch could not keep up with the PB1000 or 10s, musical the 10s sounded best, the PB1000 dug deeper and was stellar on movies, musical it digs deeper than both the Klipsch and 10s, so I settled on 2 PB1000's and have been pleased for almost 3 years, no regrets!!

we've got the pb-1000 on display at my best buy store. one of, if not the, best subwoofer for the price. Like the you said in the beginning, one is a speaker company's subwoofer, and the other is a subwoofer company's subwoofer. granted, we also have the SVS prime pinnacle floor standing tower speakers on display matched with the pb-1000. The matching aesthetics look great, however a subwoofer company's speakers arent the best for the money. for the same price as the SVS prime pinnacles (or a little more) I would choose the B&W 603 Floor standing towers.

I didn't know what a "good" sub sounded like till I got the PB-1000. The magic is in the frequency curve. Its not a curve, its a straight line! Its rated down to 19hz and has a deep authorative sound that you feel as much as hear. What I realized after using this sub was that previous subs were just making a lot of noise at specific frequencies. With the PB-1000 you feel and hear a much more natural presentation of the music / sound effects, depending on your use case. I have a couple other 12" subs that don't even compare. Also of note, I've seen other reviews that found spending $1000 for a pair of PB-1000s gave a better listening experience than a single $1000 sub.

    • @PureBrew1
      @PureBrew1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Andrew is correct. The outputs are 80hz HIGHPASS, which removes the bass going back to an amp to drive small speakers. Which is kind of a cool feature. “Line-Level” only refers to the connection type, which many call “RCA”. The manual is available at SVS if you want to check it. Ultimately, this will not work to drive another sub, since it filters any bass below 80hz on these outputs.

I bought the klipsch and is a good sub but I would have gone with the SVS if not in Europe is so much more expensive, klipsch cost me €500 shipped but svs was going to cost me over €800 which was a no brainer for me to go with the klipsch. I will add an other sub in the future and will be an svs cos I can hear that flair port sometimes on the klipsch and it annoyed me. Great video . Thanks

@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Do you get any compensation from SVS or Klipsch? Just asking. Also, did you send the "exact" same signal to the SVS and to the Klipsch when testing? • @HomeTheaterHobbyist

No I'm not compensated from Klipsch or SVS. I purchased the SVS because a lot of people ask how it sounds vs another 10inch subwoofer. But it's not my main sub as I said in the video. The klipsch was a review unit.
Yes I sent the same signal, put the subs in the same position and set their volume knob to 50%.
I would say if you're price sensitive/want to use that money for something else definitely go with the Klipsch it's a great sub but the SVS is better if you're budget allows. Hopefully this helps.

Good thorough job there! I noticed a lot of subsonic cone travel with the Klipsch than the SVS, but yet the SVS is supposed to hit down to 19Hz. Could the SVS have a built in low cut filter? One thing that wastes amp power is playing frequencies the speaker can't reproduce.

But if you like really deep bass go for the Monoprice Monolith (th-cam.com/video/OSR5zcaFSnQ/w-d-xo.html). You obviously watch the comparison to the Klipsch which I also like but yea all around, go SVS PB1000.

Was leaning towards SVS PB1000 (not SB 1000 as that was too subtle for my taste when I heard in Bestbuy) but this looks bit big for my room so is there a smaller speaker in a similar price range with balanced controlled bass with the bass feel ? or am I better off just choosing PB1000 as there may not be another woofer closer to this with smaller foot print

  • @Belfor09

Is the amplitude the same? Because Klipsch here is distorting the camera way more than SVS does. Seems like SVS is at least 3dB quieter and softer than Klipsch. I wish you could also test some 20-25Hz tones. I'm looking for a good sub which can produce a clean sinewave at 20Hz with reasonable 100dB +

Yes the levels are the same. I unplugged one sub then reconnected the next with all the same settings.
I have disc with 20 Hz tones and mics to record but I don't add that tone to the videos because most people don't have speakers that can replay that tone at normal listening levels. I don't want to blast people's ears with the next tone or my narration 😁.

Another great review! From my research and experience, the best Sub Brands are in approximately this order; 1) SVS 2) Sunfire 3) HSU 4) JL 5) REL 6) Earthquake... yada. Please add to this list, correct it if it needs correction. I've not heard anything quite like the SVS 4000 series, or a few Sunfire Subs over the years... but these require stereo setups with amps at least 200 watt/channel.. to keep up and allow them to play like they can. What's the best sub you have ever heard? Cheers

I didn't hear in your review of these subwoofers which company better stands behind their products. I recently did a lot of searching for both brands because I was in the market for a subwoofer as well as stereo and AV speakers. The customers of Klipsch that had issues with their speakers were very unhappy with Klipsch's customer support. Or I should say, lack of support altogether. What I read was that Klipsch customers trying to contact the company for help were not getting help at all and often could not even reach the company for help. On the other hand, I didn't find any people having issues with SVS speakers and yet their customer service is excellent. They even give people the email address of the owner of the company and he responds very quickly. You also failed to mention the fact that the SVS subwoofer has frequency crossover and volume adjustments on the back of the subwoofer so you have further customization on the SVS. This is on top of AV configuration you can program into your AV equipment if available in your AV equipment. I bought the SVS subwoofer and I know I'll get excellent service from SVS if I ever need it. Just my 2 cents.

A lot of this really has to do with what speakers you're pairing with it.
In my opinion, when you go into 12" territory the waters are muddied quite a bit and it's harder to tell the difference. The klipsch units do pop a bit more and can really punch it but if you don't like that it can be easily tuned out in most receiver settings. It's nice for a sub to have this feature though as there are certain points in movies and games where I think it fits better, it's all about balance. A 12" SVS on the other hand puts out the slightest bit less distortion on the absolute lowest frequencies, this is definitely true, not enough to care in most cases as it's basically inaudible 98% of the time so long as you run at a reasonable level. Make no mistake though, SVS has sweet stuff and you definitely aren't making a mistake if you buy their stuff.
I'm in the market for a 12" sub. My lowly ksw-10 is not putting out quite what I want out of my system (though it is very good). Been shopping for a while now. I will say that Speakercraft also puts out some really good stuff in this category and they get almost no recognition for it.

My question is which sw you would recommend for me. I'm only using it to listen music (mostly drum and bass/riddim/rap). My preference went to the Teufel s 6000, the Pb 1000 or the SPL 1000.

Subbed , great video. If you were gonna buy a set 7.2.4 which the subs are included, would you pick SVS or Klipsh?

Thanks 🙏🏾! I’d pick SVS because I like deep bass and their subs typically play deep.

Thanks! I was hoping the tones could be heard well enough to hear the difference.

The design or size is a mute point if it doesn't have similar sound or depth. If the Klipsch rivaled the SVS and bass depth than the size comparison would be valid. It would be more valid to compare a Klipsch of similar size.
