The more you do with longer walks makes you stronger. The stronger you are the better your work and the stronger Eagle Eyes will get. You are raising a very active family, a great inspiration or many people.
Merry Christmas, I think it would be great if these old bunkers were restored they would be great for tourism, maybe even lightly repurpose some. It’s a shame to see them slowly rot away
It's such a shame these positions were casted shut!!! So much more history is in these places! But thanks for sharing what you found, those gun positions are amazing!❤
Hopefully they were cast shut to protect the contents from scrappers and vandals to preserve it for future generations when the importance are realised, seems to take around 150 years, so half way there! 🤞🤞 Although videos like this do spread the word and interest in such places, so that might well speed up the process. Please keep up the good work your family does HH et al.
@@ralphhathaway-coley5460more likely that these were quickly rendered unusable shortly after the end of the war when they were not quite so revered parts of history but captured enemy positions.
I'm with you in being so disappointed that they decided to block up the entrances to the bunkers in that region. When you showed us that one gun that hadn't been removed or cemented I was given some hope that whatever lies inside the bunker complexes may be in better condition than many others. The view through the small porthole at the front of the gun showed that the parts were in remarkable condition, and seemed quite complete. If I were you I'd contact those responsible for maintaining the area and see what their plans are, and put in a plea to allow access. If the area is far enough away from population centres you might find that relatively little metal reclamation occurred. Thanks for your hard work in bringing this location to us 🙂. And I can't wait to see Eagle Eyes' project as well. He's a great young lad, and that's a huge reflection on his dad. All the best, and a belated Merry Christmas if I've neglected to do so before hehe.
Amazing video ! Good Job guys , And I'm happy to say I was there before you were , hahaha ! 🤣Hope your Christmas was good and Hope you have a great & safe New Years !
Another great video, HH. That they cast all the buildings closed shows ignorance. The first 150mm gun should have had the barrel gas-axed off, leaving no questions. We seem to try to idiot-proof everything, but all we accomplish is the need to change more things. This is one heck of a site. Trust that you had a good Christmas. Take care and be safe.
So frustrating that those positions cemented shut! But your photos of how it was in WW2,bring the history alive.Looking forward to seeing what you discovered in the barracks.👍👍
What a great explore. Love the before and after photo comparison. I agree with you about everything being sealed off. Would really love to see inside of these positions. Thank you and can't wait for part 3 and EE film he is working on.
thank you for finding such awesome WW2 locations, im from the usa and would probably never get the chance to see have the things you guys have shown us over the years, thank you
Hello HH & EE, The old photos and especially the aerial photos are great tools to determine the location. Fixing the barrel is a good way to disable the gun.
What a fantastic place, you two really have done some amazing hard work climbing and trekking through the mountains. Thank you as always for taking me along.
So many steps, we also walk a lot but on flatter land. Nice and good to see that Eagle Eyes and you are having a good time together despite all the setbacks and hardships. You grow strong together, stay strong. Courage will always remain. Here in the Netherlands you can also visit many open (renovated) public bunkers, but many are closed or neglected. Great locations, thx both.
It is truly a shame that someone ordered all those bunkers and entrances concreted shut. To see that 15cm barrel sticking out of a wall of concrete was just so disappointing, and really does not do the history of that location any good. I guess because the area is fairly remote, they didn't want anyone getting lost in the bunkers, and tunnels, or hurt, but some of those smaller bunkers could easily have been left open. Truly disappointing. But, kudos to you guys for trekking all over the area to bring us such an amazing location. Seeing that "open' 15cm really gives you a good idea of how important the whole location was to controlling the waterways around. Looking forward to Part 3, and, EE's Special Project. Cannot wait. Cheers to you both!
I wonder why they cast off all these bunkers? Were the people of the area trying to erase the German footprints in the area or just to deter vandalism of these bunkers? Seeing the guns still there was interesting. Wish you could have been able to go inside to see the mechanism that makes them fire. I do hope they open these bunkers in the future so the history of what went on here could be told. Another nice video you have presented.
They need to open every single implacment. Thanks for sharing this incredible location, and I'm standing by for part three. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas.
Great detective work to determine the locations. They do have a great view over the water. Must have taken quite a bit of effort to shutter it all and pour the concrete in. A bit of me does wonder what is left inside though.
HH I agree with you in regards to not understanding why they completely buried the inner parts of thar 21cm gun in concrete leaving just the barrel poking out to rust over the ages. I liked that they did not bury the other smaller calibre gun in concrete it would be amazing to get inside and have a good look. So HH who do you have to bribe to get a peek in lol just kidding mate. Im glad you guys found one of the structures you have in those photo's and again they have sealed everything inside.
Hello there friends! What a find. Loved that one gun bunker with the gun still in it. Is the "green" paint on it original or ???????? Too bad and sad they have it all shut. I do hope, like you, that they reopened and let it be known/shown the history. Can't wait to see what the next part shows us. You have my interest on what you found. Also, looking forward in seeing what EE has in store for us. Take care. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
Absolutely amazing to see these videos i have the aleution ww2 bunkers all around me on a island in the gulf of Alaska..just great to see history is similar on the other side of the ocean .
Well, you can see how people treated those aircraft , vehicles, cannons, and like these fortifications you walk through, after WW2. Money for scrap steel, and aluminum made a lot of good incomes for people after the war. No one thought of history back then. It's a shame to us now, but it was a living to many back then.
A slightly inaccurate way to measure for you in the field. If you hold up your hand with the fingers extended across your palm to the outside of your thumb is roughly 4 inches. or 10 cm. This is how horses are measured, in hands. Now you know how to roughly measure something quickly. So the opening would be 1 and 1/2 hands for 15 cm
Wow..Once again an awesome video guys.. how the heck did they get those guns , munitions and concrete all the way up to those amazing heights?? It’s mind blowing stuff to see. Keep up the great content we really enjoy it!
