- US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez convinced the public of how terrible her firsthand experience of the Capitol building riots was until it was revealed she lied and was never there, according to Sky News host Rowan Dean.
Ms Ocasio-Cortez convinced the public in a teary display of how she felt threatened with rioters trying to burst into her office, but it has since been pointed out that her office is not in the Capitol building.
The congresswoman’s office is next door in the Cannon House Office Building - which was not under siege - and where she was on the day the riots took place in another colleague’s office.
Mr Dean said the congresswoman has been “caught out telling outright fibs”.

So if she was in a colleagues office or her own office I think her claims that she felt traumatized are totally legit. Must be doing something right judging from all the hate directed at her. She's got some serious charisma in my opinion and I think that scares you and crystalizes all the hate.
Her office is the Cannon House Office Building 200-250 yards to the south east and connected to the main building by tunnels. Which is why the Capitol police sought to evacuate anyone in it.
If Sky News Australia are telling the truth this is revealing. I'd like to hear from AOC about this accusation.

Her office isn't in the capital. She was a couple hundred yards away in a building that wasn't ever involved. The police were under pressure and were not looking for her specifically. They just wanted to account for the people in the building. If you ever seen police in a crisis they are all business and need to be focused and in control. Those are written in stone facts. If she felt threatened that's on her. People react differently to situations. I know someone who's got a fear of whales of all things. I don't know why. She doesn't know why, but, she has a panic attack if she even sees one on TV. So what she was feeling and what actually happened are two very different things. Facts don't care about feelings. The unfortunate thing is that her fear is misleading and inflammatory.
