    So I'm deep in the rabbit hole for keyboards. It's an absolute money pit. If the stabilizers are clip in, you could change them out for much better ones. TX stabilizers are some of the best clip ins I've ever tried. Or just lubing the stock ones. Doubt they're consistent. I would suggest changing them out if you get this keyboard that rattle is no good.

      I have a CM Storm Quickfire XT (cherry browns). It is literally the PERFECT keyboard for me.
      - 104key full size
      - proper cherry browns
      - no RGBullshit
      - sleek understated design
      - big metal plate in it for rigidity, sturdiness, weight and feel
      Got it at a nice price too (60 or 70 euros or something).
      My keyboard at work, which tbh I never really liked anyway, fucking died on me and I'm looking for a replacement but I cannot for the life of me find a similar keyboard for a similar price. The only keyboard that comes close to it is the Ducky One 2 Phantom Black (100 bucks).. and that's not really available in a regular webshop here in the Netherlands.
      I was browsing for a 'sleek robust' keyboard and I cannot find ANYTHING remotely comparable pre-built on just normal webshops. It's all GAMER shit or Logishit (my current keyboard at work is a logishit keyboard.. I am not paying money for a logitech board).
      Is the market for proper decent understated sturdy keyboards just not a thing!? Everything looks like horseshit out there. >:(
      I loathe the day something happens to my Quickfire XT... I have no idea how I'm going to get over that.

    Letting the viewer know your personal preference is fine but the way he keeps mentioning one after another as if it was relevant to product presentation is extremely annoying. When it's not an irrelevant preference( like color) he often does not mention the benefits of that choice is or why he prefers it and what the alternatives are. He's more about presenting his feelings about the product than the actual product. I get that finding someone that seems inoffensive and yet is not camera shy is not easy but at least have him improve the negatives because it seems like he's getting worse.

    Those are plate mount stabilizers (clip-ins & screw-ins mount to the pcb); good clip-ins like TX stabilizers don't rattle. To fix the rattle with loose plate mount stabilizers you can put a piece of band-aid or tape or other material to shim the gap that's allowing it to rattle (you can take out pate mounts from the top without taking the switches and plate off which is why cheaper boards use them - they can be installed and removed more quickly and easily which saves time and money on their side) but they tend to rattle because the sizing of the plate holes for them isn't as consistent as the holes in a pcb for clip and screw-ins

I've been a big fan of their keyboards since I won a crazy stupid one (CM Storm MECH aka The Aircraft Carrier) and have subsequently bought their Topre hybrid capacitive and a bunch of their Masterkeys Pro in various sizes. They're fairly priced, decently built for the price and aren't horrifyingly expensive. Hot swappable switches was the thing they really needed to bring to the party as I didn't enjoy resoldering my board once to swap some broken MX browns out, so it'll be nice to keep CM ecosystem going and experiment with more variations more affordably. Person choosing and designing the caps font sizes, icons placement etc. was either drunk or high. Then again looking at the inconsistency of everything - comparable only to chinese knockoffs from Aliexpress - probably both.

    Aluminum on keyboards is overrated. Also I wouldn't be surprised if this is just TM680. In that case just get any other TM680 for half the price.

    Asking way too much for a $100 board to have screw in stabs.
    Most multi hundred dollar kits don't even include them and make you go buy yourself much less than stolen for you and build a keyboard.

    am i the only one who doesn't like how plouffe looks at these keyboards like hes got a new 300 dollar enthusiast keyboard from drop? these keyboards are made for chad who wants a cool looking keyboard when hes fragging out in valorant not taeha whos gonna lube all the switches and put a 200 dollar gmk set on it. sure its cool keyboards are becoming less shitty but no one buys and companies dont make them thinking theyre gonna be the next drop carina they make them for gamers who want cool rgb. of course theyre not gonna have the best screw in stabs and come with case foam pcb foam and plate foam. plus hotswap shouldnt even be an enthusiast level thing it should be in most keyboards so maintenance and repairs are easier not so you can drop holy pandas in it

    So close.. why is everyone going for the miniature layout now..
    Gimme a mecha board with a bezel and a knob like this one, but WITH a numpad, and you can have my money.

    I do not know why I like these videos, I mean I have used the same Logitech keyboard for a dozen years. I hate small kbs, need a num pad. And hate clicky loud keys.
    But yet I love these types of videos.
    I'm not well.

    3:28 Clip Ins can sound as good as screw ins if not better, if you take TX Stabilizer for example they sound better than almost every screw ins. So what you just said is not true.

  • @JasonOnTheWeb
    @JasonOnTheWeb ปีที่แล้ว

    Can someone explain to me why people actually care this freaking much bout keyboards?! 15 years of pc gaming later, the care about sound and feel to this degree is psycho to me.

  • @bismuth7730
    @bismuth7730 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you actually knew anything about keyboards you would know clip in stabilizers are much easier to tune and they stay that way compared to screw in stabs. Why do i always get disappointed watching normies talk about keyboards.

    I heard $100 and for a moment there I was tempted to buy it. Then I remembered I already upgraded to a full ally frame. And I should not try to justify another cheaper keyboard.

  • @tynova4672
    @tynova4672 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a little nitpick, you kept referring to the top case half as the "top plate". The plate is the part that sits above the PCB and below the key caps. The Plate on this keep looks like it's polycarb, not aluminum.

    I have the CK721, looks exactly the same as this one, and I really like it. Unfortunately de keycaps are abs and the wasd keys faded away after a couple of months. Had to buy a new set on amazon. Besides that no complains.

      @JustChebbie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      check out the custom keycaps market like keycaps offered on DROP, i think they're ~45? and PBT material. textured and durable, much better than ABS (which is probably what you were/are using)

  • @Fairyplay

    cooler master should bring back their topre board. Plouffe loves to hate on logitech / cooler master / corsair because they're behind in the game without realizing that those are the brands that made mechanical keyboards mainstream

      Treat yourself to a fully custom build to specify your preferred:
      Layout
      Case (material, weight)
      Switch (weight, style, feel, sound, color)
      Keycap (color, sound/material)
      Firmware
      It'll change the way you look at work
