Nine-year-old Nicky Beard lost his life while holidaying in Cornwall with his family. But rather than remember him, his family decided to forget him, and never spoke of him again. Almost 40 years later, Nicky's brother Richard Beard decided to try and remember the brother the family pretended didn't exist.

Our child died in 1977 and we have always talked about him and celebrated his life. Although his death was the most horrific painful experience /, our love for him was shared with his siblings. Even today our grandchildren know all about him

I can kind of relate to this story because I know exactly what it's like to lose a sibling because my younger brother Patrick passed away from a heart attack in his sleep from a alcohol overdose on August 2nd 2020 he was just 28 years old when he passed away
    😢💔

@@andycallaghan5975 You can try to avoid grief, but it causes other problems in your life. The only way out is through.

Shock does very strange things to people. There can be nothing as painful as losing a child and there is no 'correct' way to grieve, for most it is just a case of putting one foot in front of the other and getting through the day. I'm guessing that they were worried about being completely overwhelmed and unable to cope with their other children.. The thing is, they were only delaying it, and they would have suffered, immensely, as is probably talked about in his book. Very sad :(
