Dev is just perfection! Found it kind of rude that the translator didn't get or was even offered a chair... he played a huge role in communication with the film and Sunny...
When Sunny said his favourite actor is Ajay Devgn (referring to him by his film and the character Singham) the translator should have said that incidentally Singham means Lion in Hindi as well. :)
its sep 2024 and i just watchd lion a couple of days ago and it had me bawling my eyes out at the end, i was such a mess, such an emotional movie and the emotions dev portrayed at the end were amazing
Although I am commenting on this 5 years down the line I have to say I loved this interview and loved it when Dev referred to himself as British Indian so nice one dude
As a native Hindi speaker, it is very obvious that the translator is purposely not conveying what Sunny exactly says. For example, around the 5 minute mark, Sunny was asked how much time he spent with Dev every month. Sunny responded saying 3 days. The translator then told the audience that they spent 3 days a week and 2 hours a day together.
Salome Vakharia, at around 15:31 did the translator translate Sunny's response to the question exactly as Sunny said it? Did Sunny say "I was born to do it." ?
+angel face no he actually said -"that wont ever come" ... actually the interpreter told him the question along the lines of "where did you get the ghost of acting" using the hindi word for ghost to which he replied "that wont ever come". by that he meant the ghost i suppose.. basically he didnt understand the question.. the interpreter made a mess of it..
I personally think the translator did a great job with appropriate improvising. When we refer to the interviewer questioning Sunny about his acting skills, the translator translated the statement by asking him, "acting ka bhooth kahan se aaya?" meaning literally - where the ghost of acting come from. Being an innocent 7-year-old, he answered there never was a ghost. The translator responded accurately by saying that Sunny believes he was born with the talent, which is pretty spot on for something so randomly asked live.
I speak URDU n right in different interviews the translator has been translating incorrectly. It is sad in Asia the movie didn't do well, not many people went to see it. I hope he wins the Oscar.🤔
Watching a video of Dev Patel makes me feel safe. But my parents always yell at me for watching him. They really hate him because they think that he's crazy. Why do my parents think that Dev Patel is crazy?

Salome Vakharia It would be so wonderful if Dev could translate for him, but I'm not sure if Dev speaks Hindi.

Dev Patel is the go-to Indian male actor.
he really isnt. he only has like 22 credits on imdb which is crazy low considering he’s been acting since he was 16 🥴
I have a crush on Dev Patel, but he probably thinks that I'm an idiot.
So cute - i hate to admit that my ovaries are about to explode
Sunny was getting annoyed. Although English is a royal language, but mother tongue is more fun
Oh honey our South Asian languages are just as or even more Royal ❤️
❤👏👏👏👏❤
They're cute.
Nice
The translator probably just wanted to stand.
