Claudia Black and Brian Bloom, the actors behind Morrigan and Varric, talk about their art. www.blog.biowar... www.dragonage.com/ / dragonage / dragonage
Varric is my homeboy. I took him everywhere with me. And not just because I was a Warrior and needed him to pick locks for me. My Champion and him just got along from day one.
Heading back to Origins again for a 15th playthrough. Hearing these two lovely voices brought back so many Dragon Age memories that I just have to play it again.
Dear God, I love them both so much! Can't even wrap my brain around that moment when Varric meets Morrigan and how *that* conversation will go. Oiy! The snark (^^)
I adored Claudia Black in Farscape. I also ❤ Dragon Age. Now what makes Claudia a great VA is because there was not 1 second that I thought of Aeryn Sun while listening to Morrigan. I was so immersed in the game and the relationships that it was sometimes easy to forget they were acted.
Brian Bloom and Claudia Black, I humbly thank you for your awesome work, for lending your passion, all your emotions really to those amazing characters. You two have brought my Dragon Age games to life. Thank you ;-)
I've been a fan of Mr. Bloom's since I saw him in the movie "The Stuff." Years later, he still proves to be just as intelligent and talented. He deserves so much more recognition. Team B.B.
Brian Bloom's job as the male Trooper in SWTOR absolutely blew me away, and since then he's been one of my favorite voice actors ever. I actually didn't know he did Varric's voice until afterwards, which made me love him even more. Those eyes are a bonus. Claudia Black does a good job as Morrigan too; she pulls off the "deadpan snarker" archetype very well.
I often say it: DA2 had a lot of good stuff in it, and even improvements over DA1. Unfortunately, these things were not enough to make up for what was wrong with the game.
You're right. That's something Bioware likes to do with characters and the actors who voice them. I noticed it a lot in Mass Effect. Illusive Man looks a little like Martin Sheen (his voice actor), along with Joker (Seth Green), Miranda Lawson (Yvonne), etc. I'm not surprised they did it with Varric as well.
I agree. The same as the actor, Michael Ironside, whose looks was blended into the villain, Darkseid, of DC Comics, seen on the "Justice League Unlimited" series, years ago.
I love seeing videos like this and seeing just how down to earth these people are. Voice talent is my biggest passion. People tell me I have the voice for it and I practice daily modulating my voice into different personalities and it is quite fun. However I personally hate the sound of my regular voice so I find myself using the animated versions far too often.
i WISH i could get into voice acting. ppl tell me i COULD do it(& that i should), but how? no money usually = no opprotunities, no matter how good u r. im no exception.
@@edyoung4294 I don't think so, how many actors really start off rich? It's just that you have to practice, audition, and possibly go to a school to learn.
Love Claudia Black and so happy to see her coming back for part 3 in this series. Brian Bloom kept me staved over while playing SWTOR with the voice over of the Trooper.
when Morrigan's voice actor said that line "well well, what have we here" it didnt sound eactly like the time we first mer her in origins, is it revoiced for inquisition, so we got both morigan and Flemeth greeting us with the same line...wao *^'
Man! I so want to jump through the screen just to get to Claudia Black even though I like her better with dark hair. Also, I can't believe that I feel like I've watched Brian Bloom grow up on screen. I remember him as a child in Once Upon a Time in America.
Blum's a really talented guy. It seemed like a bit of a risk on Bioware's part to have him voice Oghren in the first game and Varric in the second and third games considering that they're both major characters, but somehow he manages to pull it off. Honestly, when I learned that he did Varric's voice, I was surprised.
0neredlight Wow. I did not notice that. Okay, they're both talented. Just not quite as talented as I thought they were when I believed that they were the same person.
KathTea Katastrophy - Corsetiere & Model Bodahn Feddic had an English accent. Kinda. Orlando Bloom can just play a surface dwarf or change his accent for his character, considering he's an actor and all. The important thing is that people with Blum or Bloom as a surname play dwarves in the Dragon Age franchise.
"Andraste's Dimpled Buttcheeks!" favorite Varric line. I could also listen to Claudia Black say anything, dayum that's a sexy voice. Loved her as the one of the quarian leaders in ME series too. She needs to be in every game imo.
Came back to this video 7 years later just to see Claudia black playing Morrigan again, man what a voice that woman has, still sounds just as good as I remember. She's one of the major reasons I still go back and replay Dragon Age origins, if seductive and sensual was a voice, it would definitely be hers.
I just love the people they get for these games while it is cool to hear about a voice actor who watches anime or plays video games even the people they bring in who don't play games you can still feel they aren't just kinda phoning it in you feel like actually care about Bringing this character to life. it is what makes Bioware games that one step above the rest of most games out there
Please keep posting videos like these! It's so fantastic to hear the actors talk about their characters. Long time Claudia Black fan. Must see... Gideon Emery... taking about Fenris...
dik hed yes i know she not party member but varric will be and there we'll be talk to each if bring varric i imagine. Is all i meant. I remember hearing she will have a big role.
He will always hold a special place in my gaming memories thanks to his role as Kane from the Kane & Lynch games... and damn, do they need to make new one.
I could listen to Brian Bloom talk about anything. He could read the nutritional value of a bag of rice and I'd be enamored.
i agree. i think that's why i love varric so much: the voice
hahaha that's true
almost died after reading your comment. new rule, no drinking while reading comment section
lol oh my got that gave me such a laugh, I needed that. You are 100% right
Brian Bloom is such a hunk *sighs dreamily*
Claudia Black's voice is just mesmerizing...
It was awesome to hear her in ME2 and ME3
Clair Kruskamp ME3?
Yes she is Admiral Daro'Xen vas Moreh
Clair bear
She's also Liara's 'father'.
As SFDebris once put it Claudia Black's voice has been scientifically proven to cause a man's fly to spontaneously undo itself.
No homo Brian Bloom's eyes are a little captivating.
No homo at all, Brian Bloom's eyes are very captivating! What's ''homo'' got to do with it? My cat's eyes are very captivating also!
Straight guys feel the need to clarify their attraction to the same gender has nothing to do with sexuality. :P
WAHCHINKSAPA07 So cats eyes are captivating no furry?
#Fullhomo
Imperius Is nothing but a silly joke, i command those tits to relax at once!
Claudia's blacks voice is so smooth and sexy sounding, makes me melt
Bullitt Watch Farscape if you haven't already.
+Bullitt ikr? I love her voice so much.
+Orlando Alvarez
Brian Bloom exudes pure charm. But honestly both him and Claudia Black have mesmerising voices
Gods, Brian and Claudia have attractive voices
Brian Bloom NEEDS to make a podcast i swear. I love his voice.
Varric is my homeboy. I took him everywhere with me. And not just because I was a Warrior and needed him to pick locks for me. My Champion and him just got along from day one.
WHO can't get along with varric?!
well... shit... he's handsome...
And talented, let's not forget talented.
He's also tall. 6'4" ... how's that for irony?
hot damn even better
He’s so fucking hot. I remember watching him on As The World Turns as Dusty when I was a kid. He was hot then but I think he’s even hotter now.
Heading back to Origins again for a 15th playthrough. Hearing these two lovely voices brought back so many Dragon Age memories that I just have to play it again.
Meg Kaylee u cute
This should be rated V for "Voice Porn"
Ooh, that's going to be my quote of the day.
Go ahead :D
@Mary Sith have you seen him in the movie Extramarital? If not go watch that one. It is really good.
@@sammibullock what? He plays in porn?
Brian Bloom's eyes are just..wow!
Jesus Christ, his voice literally is so deep that my headphones make my head V I B R A T E.
Yes!!
Brian Bloom needs to voice a romanceable character in the next ME... Please and thank you
That SO needs to happen!
Made Varric (os a dwarf companion) romanceable XD.
I'm a straight man and I'm in love with Brian Bloom.
You're not alone, man... My sexuality is currently being interrogated...
Totally not a gaming channel
Ha ha :D Should we abduct him? You get the van.
+tevatenu
Yeah but only if the van has no windows. :D
Totally not a gaming channel
Of course, we're not amateurs :)
+tevatenu
True, we have to plan this out...
These voices are so damn amazing. it's crazy.
Dear God, I love them both so much! Can't even wrap my brain around that moment when Varric meets Morrigan and how *that* conversation will go. Oiy! The snark (^^)
Wow, Varric, your human form is quite attractive!
Claudia made Morrigan my absolute favourite DA character. Love her!
This was so awesome to see!
And oh my goodness Brian's eyes! I'm like "how are they even real?"
I just love how professional and passionate these people are.
I clicked this for Claudia but damn I didn't know Varric's voice actor looked so hot. :D I might check more of his interviews...
Hell, he voices Captain America AND Daredevil in Marvel Heroes 2016.
Whoa... he has beautiful eyes.
IKR =O they are like awesome with the black hair color.
***** Yes indeed! Reminds me of my Warden hahaha.
*****;)
OMGGGG Brian Bloom......damn I was always attracted to Varric but now...even more
an awesome voice
an awesome voice
I wanna drown myself in both Brian and Claudia's voices. Like, for real.
ugh i love Morrigan's character so much. that voice and background of story is so good.
THE DUDE IS HELL UNDERRATED, HIS VOICE IS SO VERSATIL
I'd love to see Morrigan meet my Warden again, please do it Bioware!
This is so beautiful to watch
I adored Claudia Black in Farscape. I also ❤ Dragon Age. Now what makes Claudia a great VA is because there was not 1 second that I thought of Aeryn Sun while listening to Morrigan. I was so immersed in the game and the relationships that it was sometimes easy to forget they were acted.
They should have named this video, "Dragon Age Sex Appeal, get it all in one video."
I can't wait to hear Verric again!
Brian Bloom and Claudia Black, I humbly thank you for your awesome work, for lending your passion, all your emotions really to those amazing characters. You two have brought my Dragon Age games to life.
Thank you ;-)
I remember Brian Bloom as the young kid in "Once Upon a Time in America" with Robert De Niro and James Woods from the early 80's. Crazy.
So do I, but as I mentioned here, my eyes caught him first on the movie called, "The Stuff." His kid brother was on it, too.
CANT WAIT FOR THIS GAME!
BEST GAME OF 2014!
Definitely
dragon heaven You need a punctuation lesson.
"Your eyes can't speak for you"
I think an exception is made in your case, Brian.
His eyes are simply beautiful.
2 of the most iconic voices. Brian and Claudia are the BEST!
completely badass voice actors. They also happen to be my 2 favorite characters in the series.
I've been a fan of Mr. Bloom's since I saw him in the movie "The Stuff." Years later, he still proves to be just as intelligent and talented. He deserves so much more recognition. Team B.B.
I could disappear in his eyes, never to return ever
Brian Bloom's job as the male Trooper in SWTOR absolutely blew me away, and since then he's been one of my favorite voice actors ever. I actually didn't know he did Varric's voice until afterwards, which made me love him even more. Those eyes are a bonus.
Claudia Black does a good job as Morrigan too; she pulls off the "deadpan snarker" archetype very well.
Good old Claudia Black. Love this woman, will never forget officer Aeryn Sun from Farscape. There she showed her greatness
Brian Bloom is an amazing voice over actor his resume is a mile long and i love when he in a video game his iconic voice makes it more memorable
I could literally listen to Brian’s Voice For Hours!
These two does the best voices in the franchise
Varric and Morrigan! Love those characters!
As much as i didn't like Dragon Age II, I did like Varric.
Yeah my opinion of DA2 was that it wasn't the worse game I've played, but Varric is one of my favorite characters from the Dragon Age franchise
I often say it: DA2 had a lot of good stuff in it, and even improvements over DA1. Unfortunately, these things were not enough to make up for what was wrong with the game.
Well, I guess we'll see how Inquisition does
Lorenzo Benito
i agree completely.
Someone please do an interview with Gareth David-Lloyd and Gideon Emery. My life would be complete.
I still can't believe that Gareth voiced Solas. He's absolutely nothing like Solas (which speaks to how talented he is).
Is it safe to say that Brian Bloom looks just like Varric (yes, excluding differences)?
You're right. That's something Bioware likes to do with characters and the actors who voice them.
I noticed it a lot in Mass Effect. Illusive Man looks a little like Martin Sheen (his voice actor), along with Joker (Seth Green), Miranda Lawson (Yvonne), etc. I'm not surprised they did it with Varric as well.
pinheadman665 Miranda looks like Yvonne because she is Mirandas Face Model.
pinheadman665 I wished Cassandra looked like the girl who voiced her :(
I agree. The same as the actor, Michael Ironside, whose looks was blended into the villain, Darkseid, of DC Comics, seen on the "Justice League Unlimited" series, years ago.
I love seeing videos like this and seeing just how down to earth these people are. Voice talent is my biggest passion. Ed Young
Story of my life man.
@@edyoung4294 I don't think so, how many actors really start off rich?
It's just that you have to practice, audition, and possibly go to a school to learn.
I love Claudia Black's hair in this video. And is it just me, or does Biran bloom look a lot like varric in real life.
Is it me or did they sort of model Varric's face in DA:I more off Brian Bloom's? You can SEE the expressions in him.
This is really awesome to watch. It's always fun seeing voice actors at work and chatting behind the scenes. I adore Brian and Claudia, they're great!
Varric = my best friend in all games, Hawke's friend, Inky's friend, it's impossible to not be close with this amazing storyteller
Love Claudia Black and so happy to see her coming back for part 3 in this series. Brian Bloom kept me staved over while playing SWTOR with the voice over of the Trooper.
Two most beautiful voices ever. I could listen to them all day.
Wow, these people are amazing! could listen to them talking for ages.
uuugh brian bloom's voice is just.. so.. jfc..
I see Brian Bloom and my heart just melts! He's the only reason I love Varric so much
That was great!
I really like Varric, I hope he never changes! :D
His *EYES...*
* swoon *
he is most perfect person for Varric, has beautiful voice and wow he is handsome and charming too! :)
when Morrigan's voice actor said that line "well well, what have we here" it didnt sound eactly like the time we first mer her in origins, is it revoiced for inquisition, so we got both morigan and Flemeth greeting us with the same line...wao *^'
She may have changed it a bit to sound the older part. Inquisition is ten years following Origins, almost.
Flemeth was actually voiced by Kate mulgrew
Man! I so want to jump through the screen just to get to Claudia Black even though I like her better with dark hair. Also, I can't believe that I feel like I've watched Brian Bloom grow up on screen. I remember him as a child in Once Upon a Time in America.

Steve Blum is the voice of Oghren not Brian Bloom.
0neredlight
Wow. I did not notice that.
Okay, they're both talented. Just not quite as talented as I thought they were when I believed that they were the same person.
And Orlando Bloom really should be given a cameo as an elf-hating dwarf.
Phlebas
He's English though. He might fit a Human character better.
KathTea Katastrophy - Corsetiere & Model
Bodahn Feddic had an English accent. Kinda. Orlando Bloom can just play a surface dwarf or change his accent for his character, considering he's an actor and all.

Oh so that's where Varric gets his little hand shake gesture from! The amount of detail, I love it :)
I love their voices. :3 They are amazing!!! :)
when she said 'what have we here' i nearly passed out from excitement
I love how they are acting in front of the microphone. It translates well into their voice work. :)
Pretty awesome seeing the two of them just regularly talk. Ah.. Need to go watch Farscape all over again now.
Brian Bloom is one of the reasons I always include Varric as my rogue and talk to him at any given moment at Skyhold.
He’s still my favorite voice for Captain America to this day
Brian and Claudia are so talented that I feel more connected to the characters! That is some serious talent. I can't wait for the new release.
I'm watching Once Upon a Time in America and even at his young age his voice was still booming 😭
Really powerful voices. Flemeth is another great one.
just wanted to hear more Morrigan, love her so much
cant't wait to hear Varric and Morrigan interact.

yes i know she not party member but varric will be and there we'll be talk to each if bring varric i imagine. Is all i meant. I remember hearing she will have a big role.

My inquisitor looks just like yours!
***** That actually my Hawke in DAI but cool.
Brian Bloom, Matthew Yang King, Danielle Nicolet, Mela Lee, Will Yun Lee is our favourite actors ever!
This is so awesome!
Claudia Black.... Oh that voice! Dear god that voice!
What the shit why is Brian Bloom so attractive
Didn't expect Brian Bloom to be so handsome!
Brian bloom is so handsome
Mamasita
I could listen to Brain Bloom all day.
"I am Brian Bloom and my voice is like amazing"
Bioware is so good at choosing voice talents! Their female voices mesmorise my soul and male voices melt my heart
Ah Morrigan, one of my favorite characters :D
Brian Bloom was excellent as Black Mask in Batman: Arkham Origins.
He will always hold a special place in my gaming memories thanks to his role as Kane from the Kane & Lynch games... and damn, do they need to make new one.
Angel Ramirez
But that last one had a terrible ending.
TRENEX 379 XD Yeah, I was pretty pissed at that.
Angel Ramirez
I heard that the second installment was a cash grab.
Omg Brian's eyes are gorgeous!
Brian Bloom should have been a major movie star.
Claudia's voice is heavenly. Obsessed
It's so cool to see young Patsy from Once Upon a Time in America become a talented voice actor!
