    The favorite gift everyone loved this year was putting small bar of soap before sewing. Wonderful in the shower

    Those pads look great. I have five green gourds drying in the basement. I turn them frequently and they look to be drying at different rates. There are two that I will process this week.
    I like using them for scrubbing pans. I am still cutting scrub pads from a good sized luffa that my daughter brought me from Brazil a few years ago.
    Not only do the luffa scrubbers do a good job but they hold up well; perhaps because they dry out so thoroughly between uses. Don’t harbor Bactria as readily as those blue sponges.

    I’m glad this popped up as a suggested video. I’m in NJ and I wound up harvesting in September while still green since my dogs kept knocking them off vines. I wound up with close to 20 that are on a clothes drying rack in my screened porch. They are still greenish.

    Thanks for showing how you process your green luffas. Im in the uk so they never dry on the vine. Its the second time ive grown luffas and ive got at least 6 from one plant. Can't wait to finish processing them and making the sponges like yours.

    Ran across your video,enjoyed seeing others take on luffas.I⁸ live in Iowa .I have enjoyed growing luffas so satisfying . Peeling green luffas I found soaking them first in soapy water makes easier to peel.last two years, I experiment with places some to dry in garage totally work and hanging and clipping them to a line to hang to leaving some in pile of old gourds to dry with the winter elements All 3 worked ,just allow them to breath and air to circulate. As vines grow Ive had them jump our trellis and hop to cedar tree and grow up our cedar trees along with dinasour gourds. Look forward to more of your videos!

    This information is great! I have 80 green luffas that I’m trying to dry in the greenhouse but I’m getting impatient!

    I have looked but never see any...
    I'm in Michigan about 40 minutes from Lansing (capital)

    Why not slightly ferment the green loofahs in water to soften the skins?

    I need to add luffa seeds to my “seeds to purchase” list. Soooo many things to try and grow. 😀 I was part of a community garden and 2 yrs ago we tried growing luffas, but it was a really rainy season that summer and it didn’t work out. I have a ?, how long did each of those square luffas pieces last when using it to wash dishes? I might try to grow then next summer. Great video!!

    • @itsbreellis
      @itsbreellis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should! That was my previous year where the luffas did terrible. I’m not positive yet on how long each will last but I’m going to keep notes!

      @@itsbreellis Thanks!! I just imagine luffas falling apart after about 5 uses. I have never used a luffa, so I will get some to try them out first. They just seem like a cool thing to grow. 😂
