Waraqa was like the most knowledgeable person of the previous books in Mecca. Because Mecca didn't follow Judaism nor Christianity, they were still following the basic teaching of Ibrahim, but it was twisted over the years.
So there were only few like Waraqa who went out tabs net priests and knew about things.
Jewish were not nearby, they were in Madina, but they also knew it was about time a prophet to come. But they wanted the prophet to be among them, so when the prophet came from Mecca, from Arabs, they were in denial, and refused to follow.
Unlike Jewish, Christians in the Arabian Peninsula have all became Muslims, sooner or later. Because they didn't have envy that the prophet wasn't from among them. They were much closer to Muslims.
In our belief as Muslims... it is not permissible to make statues of pious people, it is actually not permissible to make pictures of pious people too because it is feared that it will be misused as an object of worship for future generations of our grandchildren. So our tradition is to maintain purity to avoid worshiping idols or associating partners with God Almighty.

The most prominent Christian was an old blind man called Waraqa Ibn-Naufal who was a relative of the Prophet’s first wife Khadijah (ra). Although of Arab descent, he was a convert to Christianity and was very well versed with the New Testament.
He wasn't a Christian, just someone who learnt some knowledge and prophesy from a priest. He was from the community of 'Hunafah'. They rejected false deities and idol worship but believed in Allah only (monotheism)

And if he was alive when Mohammad becomes a Rasul he will be among the first to embraces Islam but he knows he was fated not to be.

@@kb4432 as I understood it Waraqah left paganism when he realized that idolatry does not make sense, first he searched among the jews, then among the trinitarians but later found out that the trinity is close to polytheism. But he do believes that Christianity is closest to the religion he is seeking so he becomes a monotheistic Christian. But even then he is still searching and when Khadija brings him the news of the prophet he realized that what he is searching for is nigh but that he would not be alive by then to witnesses it. And being agnostic does not make sense because by definition agnostic acknowledges the existence of God but has no idea who God is. Waraqah obviously knows Allah is the one true God, he is searching for the religion to bring himself closer to God.
Btw. This is before The Prophet goes into the cave and got told by God he’s a Prophet. So all his life till about 40 he is a simple shepherd living with his uncle and earning a reputation in Mecca as someone who’s so trustworthy that EVEN his enemies would called him by his nickname “The trustworthy”, “The Praise one”. And to add on, his first wife Khadijah r.a is the first person to embrace Islam EVER and support him. Her nickname is “The mother of believers”. She will eventually be his pillar throughout his hardships during Prophethood. And she gets wealthy from her previous marriages. The full story is very2 beautiful wallahi. So in conclusion. When they get married eventually. Muhammad (PBUH) still yet to be a prophet. So technically Khadijah didnt know at that time that her dream did actually came true😂
Rasoolullah(saw) revealed the message at the age of 40 but were not ignorant (nauthabillah) of this before revelation.

in scoiety it is usually not encouraged to marry older divorced women with children, but in islam it encourages men to marry them (old, the widow, the divorced women, etc) and take care of them but sadly not all Muslim men have the sincerity like that

Khadijah RA inherited the wealth of her two husbands and she was from an noble family. Waraqa was a cousin who an aesthetic who traveled to Shams Rome etc looking for the truth. The angel Gibreel peace be upon him once conveyed a message to Khadija may Allah be pleased with her. She used to prepare food for the prophet to take to jabal Hera where he could stay for a month contemplating and meditating. So the message was from Allah subhana wa ta Allah. We have built a house for you in paradise from a single pearl! Can you imagine how beautiful that house is?

The story is as follows
Waraqah Ibn Nawfal is a man who lived in Mecca and he was the only one who was not a pagan, but rather a Christian who believed in God and believed that Christ was the Messenger of God.
Waraqah Ibn Nawfal was considered an eccentric man in Mecca because he was the only one who believed in the oneness of God. But the people of Mecca did not object to him and did not quarrel with him regarding his faith because he was a peaceful and old man and did not spread his religion. That is, his religion was between him and himself. They did not invite anyone to enter his religion. Even his niece Khadija, who used to listen to his conversations but did not understand most of what he said.
After the revelation came to Muhammad, peace be upon him, his wife Khadija took him to her uncle Waraqah to tell him about the matter. Because Muhammad was terrified and his temperature was high, he believed that he had gone mad.
Then Waraqah Ibn Nawfal told him not to be afraid and to know that what happened to him had happened to the prophets before him. Waraqah Ibn Nawfal said when he first heard about the incident from Khadija: “I swear that it is the Namos that was revealed to Moses.”
Namos in Hebrew means religion, revelation, and law
Khadija is considered the first to believe in the prophecy of the Prophet Muhammad and the first to convert to Islam, and the second is her uncle Waraqah Ibn Nawfal.
While the uncles of the Prophet himself were divided into two parts: one killed him, one protected him but did not convert to Islam, and the other protected him and converted to Islam.

One of the features of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that are mentioned in the ancient books is that between his shoulders was the Seal of Prophethood. That was a sign of his truthfulness, and that he was indeed the promised Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
The description of the Seal of Prophethood has been narrated in the saheeh Sunnah. It was an area of raised skin the size of a pigeon’s egg, between the shoulders of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It was surrounded by moles and on it were some hairs.
There follow some of the ahaadeeth that have been narrated concerning the Seal of Prophethood:
1 - Muslim (2344) narrated that Jaabir ibn Samurah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “I saw the Seal by his shoulder, like a pigeon’s egg, resembling his body” i.e., its colour was like the rest of his body.
2 - Muslim (2346) also narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Sarjis said: “I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and I ate bread and meat with him (or he said, thareed - a meat dish)… then I went behind him and I looked at the Seal of Prophethood between his shoulders, near the top of his left shoulder, the shape of a hand with the fingers together (but smaller in size, the size of a pigeon’s egg), with moles on it.”

3 - al-Tirmidhi narrated in al-Shamaa’il that Abu Zayd ‘Amr ibn Akhtab al-Ansaari said: “I touched his back, and my fingers touched the Seal.” He was asked, “What is the Seal?” He said, “A number of hairs growing together.”
Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Mukhtasar al-Shamaa’il, p. 31

What a beautiful story & nice reaction. May Allah bless you both towards guidance. A lot of haters and enemies of Islam & Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him & his family & companions) try to bring up his marriage with mother Aysha (peace be upon her) because of age issue but they dishonestly skip over to mention about Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)'s very first marriage when he was only 25 years old with a woman (Khadija (Peace be upon her) who was not only 40 years old (15 years older than him) but she had been married twice and had 3 children from her previous husbands so clearly not a young virgin girl but a mature married & independent woman who had her own trading business.
and some scholars had contested the authenticity of the hadeeth which said Aishah was 9 when she was married to the Prophet. Even if it's in hadeeth sahih the hadeeth may not be protected by Allah swt. Sabateur can still penetrate in. The Quran is protected, and Quran said women can get marry when they reached puberty.

Waraqah bin Naufal was an Arab Christian priest who was related to Khadijah, the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad. Waraqah was Khadijah's eldest cousin who was known to have a good temperament and was a respected person in the Quraysh tribe. As a scholar of the book who had long traveled to study the greatness of God and His prophet, Waraqah was the first person to acknowledge and confirm the apostleship of the Prophet Muhammad.

A beautiful and honest love story
Khadijah's evangelist uncle. Waraqah bin Naufal Christian Imam saw the sign of Muhammad's prophethood in Mecca and translated the Bible into Arabic.
Waraqa Ibn Nawfal, one of the few Christians in Arab area in that time. He had many of the original gospel of Jesus, which was gone and altered in the Roman empire. And there was many prophecies about the last messenger of end times and his discription.
The prophet says that All people come to Allah as individuals on Judgment Day, except for Waraqa ibn Nawfal, He comes to Allah as a Nation (Translated)
One who was not corrupt by the altered gospels, yet he died before the message of Islam has come down to Muhammed. That's why he is considered as a truthful "Nation" between 2 prophets

Waraqa ibn Nawfal was a Christian who was also the cousin of Khadija, as Khadija was a Christian woman too. He was very familiar with the Gospels and the Torah and was considered a wise and religious man. After Prophet Mohammed received his first revelation while meditating in a cave on a mountain at night, the Angel Gabriel appeared to him and gave him the first revelation, which was to "Read." The Prophet was frightened and ran back to his home in panic, thinking that he might be losing his mind. He told Khadija about what had happened, and she took him to her cousin Waraqa ibn Nawfal. Waraqa assured them that what had happened to Mohammed was no different than what happened to Moses, and he believed that Mohammed was the last prophet of God. He also warned him about the hardships he would face from his people soon. Unfortunately, Waraqa died within the first period of the message of Islam.
Aisha also said: "The Prophet returned to Khadija while his heart was beating rapidly. She took him to Waraqah bin Naufal who was a Christian convert and used to read the Gospel in Arabic. Waraqah asked (the Prophet), 'What do you see?' When he told him, Waraqah said, 'That is the same angel whom Allah sent to the Prophet Moses. Should I live till you receive the Divine Message, I will support you strongly.'"[7]
Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqah bin Naufil bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, who, during the Pre-Islamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Arabic letters. He would write from the Gospel in Arabic as much as God wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqah, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqah asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" God's Apostle described whatever he had seen. Waraqah said, "This was the same one who keeps the secrets whom Allah had sent to Moses (Angel Gabriel). I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." God's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqah replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqah died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.[8]

Khadijah's interest in marrying Muhammad (Peace be upon him) didn't happen before her caravan business trip which the prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) took care of to Damascus and which by the way was three years before their marrige proposal took place, where Muhammad was 22 and Khadijah was 37.She had some good feelings about him. Before her caravan took off, she asked Maisara (the guy who worked for her and his main job was to watch the guy who is leading and guiding the trip businesses for Khadijah), she told him to watch him very closely and to tell her everything he sees or hear from him or about him when they come back. So in short, when He came back from the business trip with Muhammad (Peace be upon him), Khadijah was very excited to hear from Maisara about Muhammad. He said: " We made multiple profits than what we usually make in our business trips". Before he even finishes his sentence, she interrupted him and said: "Tell me about Muhammad first, what did you see?" He said: " I sew three main things that surprised me. She said: " What are they?". He said: "The first one, there was a cloud on the sky that accompanied us and protected us from the heat of the sun during our trip and to make sure if what I was thinking was true or not, I asked Muhammad for a running race between me and him; and indeed, the cloud followed Muhammad and left the caravan'" Khadijah said: "That's one, what is the second?" Maisara said: " One time, when we were resting, a Jewish man came to me and asked me: "Who is that man sleeping under that tree?" I said: that is Muhammed the son of Abdullah, a guy from Quraish tribe of Makkah. The Jewish man replied: "I noticed the tree which he is sleeping under, and it is a large tree, is leaning on him. He is the prophet of the nation." Khadijah said: "What is the third one?" Maisara said: "One time when Muhammad was making a deal with a customer, the customer was not sure about the price of the product he was buying from Muhammad. So the customer asked Muhammad to swear on "allat wa Alozah" that was their real price? (allat wa Alozah are Idols Quraish used to worship with God.) Then Muhammad got upset and said: "I never prostrated to them nor worshiped them to swear on them." Then the customer came to me and asked me: " who is that man?" I said: that is Muhammed the son of Abdullah, a guy from Quraish tribe of Makkah. The man said: "He is the prophet of the nation."
Khadijah then was pretty sure that was the star she dreamed of. The prophet Muhammad never thought he would become a prophet until his story on the Cave of Heraa (meeting the angel Gabriel for the first time).

While Waraqah bin Nawfal, the cousin of the virtuous widow Khadija, maintained the religion of monotheism and he was a fellower of the Abrahamic faith . Khadija, may God be pleased with her, used to discuss matters of religion and the right belief with him. And because Waraqa bin Nawfal was a very religious and knowledgeable man, he informed Khadija of the imminent coming of the Messenger and mentioned to her some of his praiseworthy characteristics and qualities that were mentioned in the previous holy books, especially the Torah and the Gospel, which he was well acquainted with. When Waraqah Ibn Nawfal saw the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, as a child, with his grandfather Abdul Muttalib, he told him that his grandson would have great status, because he saw in him the signs of prophecy that were mentioned in the holy books. But Waraqa bin Nawfal died before the revelation came to the Prophet Muhammad. However, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, praised him and told him that his faith was great and that his willingness to support him made his status before God high.

Look for this novel ( The first Muslim ) I can't remember the name of the author but she is an American Jew women, she wrote the story of the prophet in a very beautiful way , after she went through all the islamic history books talk about the prophet and arab lands, and came with a master piece of this story. It's a very good story.
