S and S+ were always a fun time for me, because everyone was a similar level of fairly decent and all the cracked pro players were in other ranks and it felt you could have fun and it just felt fair. Man I hate X rank.
yeah same, when i was in s+ grinding for the X it actually felt like i was having fun trying to improve at the game and getting better. and then i reached X rank and it made me lose my will to play splatoon at all, its been like 7 months since i last touched ranked because of how tedious it can get

And the matchmaking thought it apropriate to pair me Up against someone who was One of the best players in the entire world. X-rank is that but 3times per rotation the matchmaking is the worst in the history of competative games

I honestly hated being in rank X. Everyone is so incredibly hard core and I kept getting paired with the same ppl. S+ is much more chill by comparison. I feel like i can go in, have some fun in a few matches and leave rather than sweat bullets and get anxiety 😂

every rank has a matching power and when you rank up your power is set to match it, but if your power is equal or higher to the set power of a higher rank, you will skip to it
For me, S Rank is that moment where you discover your *own* skill cap and cannot proceed further up and eventually never plays Rank again. I should... yknow... *play the game actually.*

Bucket in lower ranks can be cracked. Even in any rank, a good bucket player can do really awesome stuff and get lots of kills. When I was in s+ clam blitz I used bucket deco for a while and it shred, especially on moray towers

I solo-ed my team in A too. It really sucked and it took me very long to get out of it even tho I was quite good. The only thing I recommend is always use your main and never switch too often weapons and just to try your best. It sometimes just really sucks because there’s always someone who actually didn’t do anything in a match while you kill so many opponents and lead the team. And since its A rank there sure are some players who just leveled up from B to A. You’re also a backliner, so you kind of depend on teamwork. Try ur best I hope you can leave the A rank :) (I left A rank by playin like 2 hours in god mode lol and I lost many rounds and yelled at squids even tho I killed like 20 but hey- dont give up)
Up until around S rank, you need to essentially be able to do the whole match yourself. 4 times out of 5, you'll have undependable or even problematic allies, but then again most of your enemies will be bad, too. Just by maintaining awareness of enemy strength (watch the enemy counter at the top that shows how many are alive) and checking the map whenever you don't see any enemies (to watch for flanks) while always being near the objective, you'll be able to climb out. It may seem daunting now but when you fall back down from a higher rank in the future you'll be able to see how players below S-rank (and even in S-rank itself) leave so many openings for one player to just canonball the entire game.
Agreed tbh, also splash exists for an accurate shorty painter even if it counts as a standard range shooter. Both sides ignoring the fact aero was always redundant when jr already existed and probably needs something more unique for a hard rework

rank skip feature. if you perform well enough in your matches you can skip ranks. most commonly people only skip ranks as smurfs or if they lost their save data, to get back to where they were originally faster. and hey, good luck on ranking up! you can do it.
I learnt this and realized it myself… if you’re Too Careful, and if you’re Too Obsessed with getting a Higher Rank… it’s gonna Cost You, and it’ll be even more of a friggin Grind than it was before. Besides that, everyone else has a better chance than I do anyway. In the end, I just only gone way over my head of getting X Rank. Thus, I Moved On. My new and only Goal is to stay and work as an Artist. Ranked and all had flushed a lot of my time drawing, so… staying true to my New Goal. Can’t do everything at once since I work nights too, even at Inconvenient Times.
I'm genuinely upset I had to climb the ranks by myself watching glue eating splat rollers get 2 kills per game and drag me down with them I'm going through it down here I finally make it into s+0 still have to deal with these troglodytes and you just took the escalator to s+5
I can admit when I am at fault for losing but when my bar breaks for the tenth time because some areosprat decided to play turf war mid clam blitz I might be a little salty. I know that skipping ranks due to skill makes sense and I know that you're better than me by a long shot but wow some people just get boosted to ranks they don't deserve cough cough 2 kill splat rollers who never stop rolling cough cough
S rank is like that final save room before the final boss where you can rest and relax for a bit before going into the S+ grind

If you win alot of matches and rank up without losing there is a chance you can rank skip. Happened to me once (A- to S)
