Hi Claudia, loved this video! However, it should be made clear that pharmaceutical estradiol can also be bioidentical, i.e. identical to what our own body makes. People are erroneously using the term "bioidentical" for "compounded." There is bioidentical compounded estradiol and also bioidentical pharmaceutical estradiol. It is important for women to realize that pharmaceutical estradiol is incredibly safe and much more strictly regulated than compounded. Thank you for your efforts to bring us this information - we will all win if we can continue to educate each other!

Hi Stefanie, thank you for being here and for your thoughtful comment. You are absolutely right and we should have specified a bit better, that bio identical does not mean compounded and that pharmaceutical estradiol can also be bio identical.
I will highlight your comment so it is better visible to those who need this information. Thank you again, I hope you are having a wonderful day

Agreed. I apply a pharmaceutical grade bioidentical estradiol nightly. It has worked much better for me than compounded bioidentical.

Thank you so much for addressing such a important topic. I had a complete hysterectomy in October with both ovaries removed as well. I reached out to Dr Mathis and he was so kind. Dr Mathis practices the Wiley protocol using compounded BHRT creams which increase throughout the month to mimic a woman’s natural monthly cycle. With having a complete hysterectomy I didn’t want the massive swings in hormones and prefer a daily consistent dose. I was able to find an amazing local doctor that an advocate of BHRT for all women I’m now on the E patch and progesterone pill and feeling absolutely incredible

Thank you Claudia & Dr. Mathis! This was great. I just started back on HRT , including vaginal cream testosterone, at age 70 after taking a few years off. I wish I’d asked my gyn to get my labs done first. Would love to see more interviews like this one! I was on sublingual bioid hormones before and found them to be much easier than the patch, caps and cream I’m on now.

This interview with Dr. Mathis is my favourite. I am on bio identical hormones and it was just so reassuring to hear that I am on the right path. My Dr. and I are still figuring out the best dose for me but I am feeling better. I am on the static dose but may ask my Dr. about the rhythmic protocol. Not sure at 65 I want a cycle again though lol. Everything he said made so much sense. Thanks for helping so many of us women get the answers we need and deserve! 💕

I m The continuos dose but my uterus mi it is too thick and my tested oestrogen levels too high. I m 61 and on it for osteoporosis prevention. My doctor told me to stop but I don’t want to do. I don’t get enough exercise to prevent osteoporosis I’ve got a disability and then another one referred me to the menopause clinic but there is a five month wait so I’m concerned I have to carry on with an ever increasing lining which can lead to complications - I’ve already had a surgery for a polyp and I have multiple fibroids and this is not good and yet no one within our national health service is taking responsibility for women’s hrt at the moment yes of the government policy coming out but meanwhile we’re still stuck in limbo self diagnosing and self-medicating on the Internet

Great Q & A with the Dr. I went through menopause abnormally young, at age 39, was done. I tried every form, when I could find a doctor to give me HRT. For the first 2 years they said it was stress, and I was too young. Long story short, after trying patches, creams, static and rhythm, pills, injections, they all stopped working to some extent. After 17 years of trying and switching protocols, I tried pellets. It took me one insert to realize many doctors overdose testosterone, but the last 9+ years have been the best I have felt. It took a while to find a doctor to listen and allow me to say these are the levels I feel my best at. I do not get anywhere the dose of testosterone most do, I do not want the side effects. I also had a hysterectomy at age 59, so do not cycle per say. I cycle every 4 months, since with my pellets, it increases my E, then I let it drop to a lower level before I get my new dose. So glad you asked all those questions, so many woman are suffering needlessly due to the WHI study, that was so misrepresented, interpreted and never really completed. At age 66 I feel better than I did at age 46, and my bone density show my bones are at the top of the chart for my age group. In my mid 40's they were in the danger zone. I could go on why HRT is so important, but the fear of cancer has been instilled in so many, they go on suffering.

What a Fantastic Doctor and great human being. His compassion, knowledge and care for the patient is something very rare to find these days. I used to live in the UK and the care for menopausal women has just started to take off. However, most women have to find a private doctor who charge quite a bit as the doctors who attend on the NHS know nothing,! I've livied in the middle east during the past 6 years and must say I'm very lucky to be living here during this transition. I had an amazing doctors in Bahrain who's been on HRT for 30 years. In Qatar they are still in the stone age when it comes to HRT. I had to fly to Dubai for an appointment with a menopause doctors and also to get hold of HRT. Thanks God I now live in Dubai and there are good doctors and plenty of choices.

Off it now 9mths .
I developed TE due to the stress of bleeding for 7mths very 2wks & losing my hair & I feel all the tweaking up & down of hormones .
I've had to start using minoxidil as the hair shedding triggered androgenic alopecia..
My hair was one long & thick & now its dry brittle fragile and breaks very easily no mater what I do..
I'm.on 50mg estrogen gel and 200mg of progesterone but feel this is not right either. Specialist wants me to stay on higher progesterone for awhile because of the bleeding I had ..

    Hi Claudia !
That was a fantastic interview with Dr. Mathis , I learned so much and even though I’m way into post menopause I feel I should get my hormones checked out . I mentioned to you before on this subject that my Dr did not recommend hormone replacement , she said even with bio identical a hormone is a hormone , I never new it does not cause cancer . Perhaps because it’s the Cleveland clinic and they have their reasons I don’t know, like Dr Mathis said they just want to treat you with pills . I really would like to check my levels out , I’m not sure wether to talk to someone here , It might be difficult to correspond with Dr Mathis back and forth since he is so far . I know you started with him when you lived in Cali. Also I notice you use extra soy ; tofu , soy lecithin etc . Just wondering Why do you need more estrogen when your already level ?
Great topic - have a wonderful week beautiful

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Sue, I am glad this was helpful. Your doctor at the clinic sounds like he just has not done his homework, like so many of them. Cleveland is not that far from CA, and you can always give Dr Mathis a call. I actually lived in Monterey at the time I saw him and he is in Santa Barbara, so it was a 6 hour car ride away, but he is so great about doing so many things over the phone.
Or maybe he can refer you to a college in Ohio who works similarly.
You know, I use soy not for the extra estrogen, but because I love the taste and I am vegan. But I should probably consume a bit less of it ;)
I hope you are having a wonderful week, thank you for being here

Hello, Claudia! I think i watched the videos in which you interviewed Dr Mathis more than 5 times each. I just love listening to him and learning a lot, also. One question for you, though: have you experienced hair loss at the beginning of the Hrt? Or have you ever experienced hair loss/ shedding with any other type of Hrt you were on? I'm at a loss here, i started static/ continuous hrt 3 months ago and almost immediately ( after 2 weeks) my hair started shedding like crazy, i lost half of my volume since october, and it doesn't seem to want to stop any of these days....i don't know what to do. ..

Hi, I am so sorry you are struggling with hair loss. I experienced extreme hair loss when I was not on HRT or on the wrong one. Have you tested your hormones since you have been on your HRT? If not, I would suggest to do so to make sure you are taking the right amounts. If your doctor does not want to prescribe a hormone test, you can order one yourself. I would test estradiol, progesterone and testosterone. Please keep me posted. If I can help with anything else, my email is ClaudiaGlows3@gmail.com

Hi Claudia, I missed this video when it came out, so I’m hoping you’ll still see my question 🤞 I am on combined oral hrt and have been so for 10 years or so. I keep trying to swap to a more natural form of progesterone, but in the UK, we have only Utrogestan in 100mg capsules and I just can’t get on with them - they seem to make me nauseous and my mood plummets drastically. I’m assuming it’s because the dose is way too high, or I’m progesterone intolerant. Do you actually have your progesterone component orally, or have you been able to access a progesterone that can be absorbed through the skin? Also, as I am already on hrt, but would really like to check my hormone levels to see if I’m achieving the optimal concentrations, would it be better to test my levels after my daily dose or before? Sorry for long winded post and TIA 🙂

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Tricia, I am sorry to hear you are struggling with the progesterone. You are not the only one though, quite a few women have the same problem. I use all my hormones in compounded, transdermal form and I use the progesterone only for 14 days of the months. So maybe you could get a progesterone cream, I know you can get that in the UK, and use that instead morning and night to see if you do better on it. It will be much easier to adjust the dose that way as well. If you can not get a prescription for one, you can get one on line.
As far as testing your hormones, I would test first thing in the morning and then take the hormones after the test. I hope this helps. If I can help further please do not hesitate to reach out. My email is ClaudiaGlows3@gmail.com

I just hope i am from that little percent group, you would never need it 😜 but if i ever need , i am going to your doctor. You know after last September my sickness and exhaustion, my periods stopped, and a few months ago, i felt little warm sometime coming up on me, considering i always cold. So i got maca capsules. I always took powder, but its not water soluble, so unless i have fresh juice or smoothie , i wouldnt take that every day. So started every day 2 capsules, and maybe 7-10 days, the warmness stop, i am again cold 🙏😅😝 So happy and this week some bleeding , little but something going on. So i am happy, not yet 😅 but i already spoke to my primary care dr and she order test to measure my hormone levels. I havent gotten yet, but i probably need to start checking to make sure that i am in the norms. I think once my body recovered, gained back a little weight, my body recovered from the trauma so my hair are back normal🙌💃 made my hair appointment with new stylist , he is french. Hi Claudia, I'e been watching almost all your videos, so informative.
Might you be able to tell us how and at what brht doses you apply during a month's time to give me/us a general idea. I'm on hormone creams as well and at times I struggle getting a balance during the month and I'm starting to believe my body is fighting to be rhythmic yet the hormone cream I'm applying is not in a rhythmic way and, this is where my body is fighting me.
I've been on brht for 3 yrs., went into menopause 5 yrs ago at 53 and it's been a roller coaster most of the time. My Dr had never mentioned going rhythmic, and watching your videos is the first I heard of it's benefits. I figured I would try it on my own and see how my body fairs doing it that way.
Maybe if I try the rhythmic method I can become more balance doing it on my own and next yr when I see my Dr again I can let her know what I'm doing. If it doesn't work for me I'll go back to square one again.
Any information I guess you are comfortable sharing hopefully might be of help for me.
    Thank you!

      @claudiaglows  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Candee, thank you so much for being here and for your kind words. I am sorry to hear you are struggling and hopefully using a rhythmic method will be helpful to you. It is really hard to say though how much one should use and every cream has a different percentage of estrogen. Mine has a 1% concentration and on the program I am on, one starts out with 4 lines (which comes out to 4g) twice a day, then it increases to 6 on day 7 and to 8 on day 11 an 12, after that it falls to 2 stays there for a while until it goes back up to 4 x times a day. I know this sounds very confusing, so it would be best to have a doctor to guide you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Dr Mathis. He can guide you and maybe even prescribe you the right dose. It is also important to test your levels after being on this dose for a while to make sure you are using enough but also not too much.

Hi beautiful Claudia I was just wondering why Dr. Mathis didn’t mention anything regarding estrogen Bioidentical patch and micronize progesterone he only talks about the compounded BHRT.
Does he not think that the fda approved treatment is good? These are newer fda approved treatments. It’s not the old horses urine treatment.
I am on .05 patch every week and 100 mg of micronice progesterone.
And a pea size of 1 % testosterone gel. I have been on that for up to 5 months and I started bleeding so my doctor increased the dose of progesterone to 200 mg of progesterone and the bleeding stopped.
But I have read that testosterone can convert to estrogen too. Do it could have made me have a period.
But I’m curious now Doctor Mathis says too much progesterone can cancel out estrogen.
I just don’t want the bleeding because my doctor right way said we need to do a biopsy.
But she wants to wait until September to see if the new dose of progesterone stopped the bleeding.
But now I’m worried that it might cancel out my 0.05 estrogen.
Because in order for the heart bones and brain benefit and the moisture in the Vagina you Have be on at least 0.05 estrogen.
    Thank you so much Claudia.💓

Hi Maria, thank you for being here and sharing a bit about your HRT program. Dr Mathis actually did talk about patches, but the audio broke up right there. He does think that if someone does not want to deal with cremes, patches are a good replacement.
As far as your estrogen the only way to know for sure if it is being canceled out or not enough is by your symptoms and to do a blood test.
How are you feeling on the high amount of progesterone. As Dr Mathis said, for some women that can cause depression.
I would say really pay attention to your symptoms and ask your doctor to get your hormone levels checked to see where you are. Please keep us posted. Also know that you can always reach out to Dr Mathis.
      Have a wonderful weekend

But I cannot control my weight and have ballooned to 40 lbs heavier. I am disappointed as I had thought that "balancing my hormones" would help with my weight!

Hi Diana, thank you for being here. I am glad to hear you feel better with balanced hormones. Yes, hormones def. help regulate weight. But we also lose muscle as we age, with is metabolically active. So if we do not replace this lost muscle, not only do we run the risk of injury and frailty, but also our metabolism slows down. So one of the best things we can do as aging women is to lift weights to counteract this lose of muscle mass

Hi, I am sorry to hear you doctor is not helping. It is so frustrating.
I am not sure about Canada, but in the US you can go online and get some of the tests without a script. You would want to test estradiol, progesterone and testosterone, maybe even your thyroid hormones to be on the safe side. I have another video coming up soon with another doctor, talking about hormones, that might be helpful as well
As far as the creams, they are prescription, so you would have to work with a doctor on that

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Noni, thank you for being here. Actually both, so the amount of all 3 hormones varies during the months, the estrogen rises until day 12, then falls, then rises again. The progesterone only day 14-18, but also in varying doses. Testosterone is somewhat static, but rises on day 13-17 and then falls again. I hope this makes sense.
I know Dr Mathis would say adrenal hormones, so cortisol, maybe DHEA and then thyroid, but I will ask him just to make sure

Hi Elisabeth, I am sorry to hear you are not being listened to by your doctor. In it she also mentions that there is so much misinformation around HRT, and that the risks of developing disease is higher without hormones than with.
It is hard to say if your high cholesterol is from a lack of hormones, but we do know that a lack of hormones causes all kinds of problems, including osteoporosis, heart disease, dementia....
I would say find another doctor. I know that is easier said than done, especially since your insurance will most likely not pay for it. Dr Mathis is very affordable and he will listen and guide you. Or you can reach out to Dr Hunter, whom I did the last video with.

It never occurred to me and it has never been discussed with my provider about rhythmic use of Estradiol.
Is this a protocol that is recommended for women who have not had a period for years?
I do have a week of time during each month where I feel completely drained. The rest of the time, I feel pretty fantastic. I've known that it's hormonal but never understood why.
It's been 6 years since I've had a period, (except for the adjustment period of dosing my Estradiol) and not sure I want to start back up but ... I'd like that low time of my cycle to be more energetic.
Perhaps this is something to discuss with my provider with my next visit.

Hi, thank you for being here. Yes, you can absolutely do a rhythmic method even if you have not had a period. I did not have a period for years when I started. In that case we work with the new moon calendar.
Maybe discuss with your provider and if he is not familiar you can reach out to Dr Mathis for guidance. Please keep me posted and let me know if I can help with anything

So interesting! I wonder what hrt can do for perimenopause. I have an awful time the 2nd half of my cycle (hardly sleep, brain fog, awful mood) but feel great the first 2 weeks. I tried birth control last year and gained 30 lbs…and felt miserable all month! I went off after 5-6 months. At 46 I feel like there’s an estrogen issue, but not all month, just the last 10-12 days. Great video Claudia!

Hi Kelly, I am sorry to hear you are struggling for half of the months. It sounds to me like a progesterone issue, but you could give Dr Mathis a call and see what he thinks, or if you have a good doctor, see him/her and see if she can maybe run a blood test at that time of the months to see what is going on.
Please keep me posted and let me know if I can help with anything.

I have scizofective bipolar and found biodentical micronised progesterone very effect. I wish I had been prescribed in my 30s to 40s but Internet education wasn't available then. My body needs more progesterone than the average female and at age 50 I was nearly gone to the psychiatric ward.

I had understood progesterone goes up and down because it is being release in the second 1/2 of the cycle from the egg. Only estradiol is released constantly. He said the opposite???

    • @claudiaglows

Hi Lily, you are right, estrogen is produced constantly, but in varying amounts. It goes up until ovulation, then falls, then goes up again before menstruation.
