I got a shiny Torchic in ORAS. I didn't count and I didn't even notice it at first. I was reading something on shiny hunting and didn't have the sound on. I glanced over before SR to see the yellow bird looking at me. Oh, I was so happy (not as happy as when I finally got my shiny Cyndaquil though). I don't remember the nature, but, I named him Blazechick. I got 2 shiny's that day. The other being a horde Zigzagoon in the forest (I was after Wurmple).

I remember when I was younger I got my first copy of sapphire it was presented and had a shiny Aggron and I had no idea so I restarted the game and I was playing it with my brother, and a shiny poocheyena appeared and I thought it was a glitch so I caught it not even knowing how rare it was 😂😂

A few days agoy brothet got his ruby and Chose torchick on acedent and found it shiny without hunting but it wasnt the normal treeko he wanted so hes stuck with a torchick
how many frames off is shiny pooch? lol I SR an emulated Ruby at 500x+ speed for a day and couldn’t handle it. I must’ve been going at one SR every 2-4 seconds by the end, but more like one every 1.5-2.5s for the first couple hours with a couple minutes of breaks every so often. must’ve ended up with like 8000 resets before i burned myself out. If I hadn’t gotten a shiny poochyena 30 minutes in I would’ve just stopped at an hour but knowing it was possible made me keep going way too long. I think i’ll stick to my GBA and chill on Netflix from now on lol.
Man that’s some bad luck! I got shiny chimchar on pokemon pearl with 198 soft resets, and then got a shiny starly with 1053 random encounters. So glad you finally got it :)

How many hours a day do you shiny hunt? I've been interested in starting (specifically with Ruby/Sapphire) but I'm worried that it's going to be too time consuming. Obviously 225 hours is A LOT, but I know it's not always gonna take that long. The biggest cause for my concern is that I've been playing third gen games since I was 7 (almost 15 years now) and I only got my first shiny a few weeks ago.
Well for me it’s my job so I can put a lot of time into it and be fine. I do 6 hours a week about 4 days a week. But that’s greatly reduced once school starts back up
That first pooch was so sad because I could tell you were excited to see a shiny and then your brain kicked in and went "wait, I can't catch this fffffffffffff"
No, the odds are 1/8192 in this generation. But that doesn’t mean you get it within 1/8192. An easier example to understand is a coin flip is 1/2 to be heads, but it can take more than two flips to get heads

It is disadvantageous; in short, it makes soft resetting for shinies a literal impossibility
So as long as your battery isn't dry in ruby or sapphire you can sr for shiny hunting regardless of the frame?
