This goes out to Sam - Hi Sam, you may not remember me (Clay barker) and my brother Thomas Wade at all, but you came up here to Canada to Toronto to a big Country venue called "The Horseshoe" where you accompanied Emmylou Harris. It was an awesome show and you stayed for a long time to chat with my brother and I. He was part of the house start-up band there and opened for so many great shows. I will always remember that. You are one of the greatest!! We were talking about fiddles and if you get a chance, it would be awesome if you could look at some of my vids that show the fiddle we were talking about (the natural colored one with the banjo-style winders). Thanks, take care and thanks to Fretboard Journal" for posting this vid!
Tim has written some pretty famous and big selling songs (recorded by others such as The Dixie Chicks) so I'm pretty sure he will be comfortable with the royalty cheques. They are both two of the finest players on the planet and deserve every cent/penny they make cause they make me so happy!
Trust me, you are only playing music about 25% of time. People have this grandiose vision of professional musicians doing nothing but playing music all day. There is a lot of hard work that goes into putting on a good show. These guys have it easier than I would, but they still do a lot of work. And they have earned their money.
Didn't know that about Jerry. Every day's a school day. And there's Gypsy legend Django Reinhart of course, who lost use of fingers 2 and 3 of his left hand in a fire. Re-learnt guitar. If you want to enough, you'll find a way.
@CGiordano464 If I could get through this world healthy and comfortable, by doing nothing but playing music, I probably wouldn't even care to know how much or how little currency was in the bank. I could turn my attention to playing better and better and better. I betcha that's what these guys do.
We all have 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand if we're a normally developed human being. Jerry Garcia's right middle finger was cut off at the first knuckle by his brother when he was 4 or 5. Didn't seem to hurt his playing........just sayin' . NO SNIVELING.
these guys r pretty fmaous in our little country world but do they make alot of money? i always wondered if being a newgrass/country bluegrass etc star is all that much of a pay
These are two of my favorite mandolin players, not a playing a mandolin. great video!
Great duo Sam Bush and Tim O’Brien ❤👍
I feel so lucky to have grown up in a time where men like this exist.

I like the way the mandolin on the picnic table behind them starts to dance at about the :55 second mark.
Great tune, my favorite fiddle tune. No wonder it has been around since about the 12th century. Sam is at his best here!
Wow, these guys should really go pro! ;)
It doesn't seem to matter what instrument you put in their hands, they can play everything. Amazing!

these two are probably the country's best mandolin players but can play almost anything. This jam should tour and add Marty and Dolly.
never heard more true of a statement.
Yeah, even though people think of him primarily as a mandolinist, Sam is one of my absolute favorite fiddlers.
Solid, Jack!

Sam's fiddle sounds great, but I have to know, what kind of banjo is Tim playing? Nylon strings, Martin-ish headstock, and it's way HUGE!!!
S.S. Stewart Cello Banjo . . .
thats what we like to call... a big ass banjo
Dance On.....

Either Tim has shrunk or he’s got a big banjer!
I hope Sam bush is living off his music
He's been living off it since the 60s, and deservedly so!
lets see you play a tune....
They are the same person 😂
and you know what? They both know how to spell.
