I made a crib a long time ago and it has served all of my kids. Mine is red oak and has so many mistakes and such but it was one of my earliest projects! I still have it in storage and perhaps it will serve grand kids one day. Excellent build and beautiful crib! Chris
If everyone pursued this level of quality in their own projects, we'd probably have a case of world peace breaking out. I built a crib some years ago, i thought it was beautiful and well made, but after seeing this I realise mine was just a bunch of sticks. Very clever to design it to be bed heads later on. 10/10.
Nothing better than making something for someone you love (made a clock for my wife this Christmas). Something worth noting....there are certain sounds that are extremely fulfilling to the human ear: the sound of a basketball hitting nothing but net, the click of a fine camera as the shuttler opens/closes, and now, the sound of your son's voice as he looks at you and coos. I audibly gasped at the sound your tenon made as it slipped into the mortise. Nice work Matty!
This crib is pretty awesome. I love that a lot of your projects are built from trees that you milled yourself (something that I want to eventually do). its gotta be satisfying building something your own children will use.
Thank you! I'd say the most satisfying was the bassinet. Probably because that's in our bedroom and I got to see my son sleeping in it every day as I woke up.
That's cool being able to be in the crib with your boy. I tried that with my 7 month son and I could feel the crib wanting to break and I was only about a quarter inside.
absolutely loved the crib. I have to add that being a mom myself (my kids are grown now), your little boy is adorable. Happy, cheerful babies come from happy parents. You do such incredible work and its a pleasure to watch you create such astounding works of art!!
Thank you so much Debra! Seeing this again, it's incredible how much he's changed since we recorded this 4 months ago. He's so much more animated and happy now :)
Matt the crib is amazing ! I love the fact that you start with crude hard wood and up to a final result following all the steps like resawing, milling, planing, etc. Awesome job man, awesome !
Beautiful work, Matt! Honestly there are no words to describe the beauty within this piece of furniture especially since it was for your son. I'm sure a whole lotta love went into this as well. :)
This will be my first child and I cant wait to try to build the crib. I have always wanted to do it but my woodwork skills are not the best but I am sure that with this videos help I can do it in 6 months. Thanks Matt!!!
Man, that's a lot of work! I can't imagine ever having the patience to finish a project of this magnitude in the short amount of time that it's needed. My son would be graduating from high school before I finished it for him. That's cool that it can be adapted to be used as a bed in the future.
Nice Work! I like the brass rods. I made four crib-bed combos for my grand kids. (I think you have seen them) I figured they could take them with them when they started their own families. Yes the spindles are the worse part. I can't believe they held a straight edge so you could turn them. I ended up throwing about a fifth of mine away. Actually kept them for other projects...you never know.
What a beautiful, cherubic baby you and Lindsay (Lindsey?) made! Crib looks great...I love the metal pins, and walnut is always a classy and classic choice of wood. Nice to "overbuild" it to support the weight of an adult.
Thank you! Lindsay is a great mom :) I figure when he's big enough to be jumping up and down in there the support structure needs to be able to handle that abuse. Plus, it's been nice for all of us to climb in there and hang out with him
Great build Matt. I couldn't help but wonder where you learned all these techniques for milling, making jigs, and assembling techniques. Your work processes for woodworking is amazing and quite practical. Thanks so much for sharing.
+Matthew Cremona quick question Matt. How did you learn your trade? Schooling, self taught, or handed down? I'm learning from trial and error, as well as from the great youtubers like you, Dema, Izzy Swan, etc. thanks for all the great videos.
You may never build a crib again but you could consider building something with lots and lots of spindels.. ;-) Anyhow, hard work pays off, doesn't it. Enjoyed the series big time Matt!
Really cool, Matt. I've made a crib couple years ago for a customer and I hoped I won't have to make it again atleast until I will need one for my family, but last year I had to build one for my sister and the second went quite a lot easier and faster, quite unexpectedly :)
Great Job Matt, that is one lucky kiddo. I like your treatment with the spindles and the contrasting colors. That is going to be a family heirloom. Nicely done "dovetail master" ;) PDMC!
I just found out I'm gonna be a grandpa. Thank you for this video. Its beautiful. Great for ideas that I want to use. 👍🏻👍🏻 wow mind blowing job. I cant do everything you did. I dont have the tools. But amazing work. I hope you make good money off what you do. You deserve it.
Beautiful work. Great job on the recording and editing of the video as well; that must have taken many many hours on its own to produce. Very nice to watch.
Love the vid and the crib looks awesome. You could probably use a "shop chimp" for help - maybe a helper - like Jay Bates.. :). I wish I had the access to Walnut like you do. The most exotic wood I can get is Red Oak... BTW - Very cute kid.
You are awesome man. That crib is amazing. It's a shame he'll only use it for a few years! Well worth it though. I guess baby Cremona 2 has a place to sleep as well.
Hey Matt, great work. In case you care / are interested, something that may improve your video quality is music that is a layer beneath the rest of the audio. Something like this would add a lot of production quality, especially when there are moments when there isn't any sound. Hope you have a great day!
I made this crib for our son 5 years ago. We finished it a day before he was born. Now, our third kid is sleeping in it! Thanks for all of your work.
Baby crib, without a doubt, is the most loved work-working project for a father!
Thank you!
Down the road, you'll be even prouder when you get to see your son put his son or daughter into that same crib!!!
That's going to be a very proud moment for me
I made a crib a long time ago and it has served all of my kids. Mine is red oak and has so many mistakes and such but it was one of my earliest projects! I still have it in storage and perhaps it will serve grand kids one day. Excellent build and beautiful crib!

Thank you! That would be something! I'm sure yours was just fine :)
Man how things have changed in 6 years.... going back in time because my wife and I may be needing something like this soon.
Great to see you build. I watched the cradle and the crib today.
Your attention to the detail that most people would never notice is probably what sets your work apart. The Nursery Series was awesome to watch.
Thank you so much Ted!
Simple and elegant shaker design...I like the use of brass with walnut!
Thank you! I really like that combo
That baby is so lucky. Imagine sharing a bedroom with such beautiful furniture!
haha! so true!
Awesome work man. It's always the last piece in a batch operation where you find a better way.
Thank you Jay! Now I know for next time or now you know for when you make spindles on a lathe with a router.
Gorgeous crib. My husband and I just watched this.
You are a master of patience with those spindles! fantastic work! JR will grow up with woodworking in his blood!
Thank you James! Yes, he will be spending plenty of time in the shop :)
Awesome build, that router jig on the lathe is amazing! So many woodworking techniques in this video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yeah there really are :)

Thank you! Those are great sounds! :)
dude you the best. love the slab to finish. You family is the luckiest to have you build custom home.
Thank you Anthony!
I've watched this video multiple times. I don't k ow what it is about this one, all of your videos are enjoyable, but this is my favorite.
Good job! Watching you wrestle the assembled crib down off the bench brought back great memories of me doing the same... except I'm 6'3" 😀
Thanks! That's a little more distance to the floor although, you probably have a greater arm span ;)
This crib is pretty awesome. I love that a lot of your projects are built from trees that you milled yourself (something that I want to eventually do). its gotta be satisfying building something your own children will use.

Thanks! We did the whole family in the crib thing. It was a lot of fun :)
Watch out, big drop right in the middle 13:55! A work of art Matt, absolutely beautiful.
Haha don't worry, I wiped it up :) thank you Tyler!
absolutely loved the crib. I have to add that being a mom myself (my kids are grown now), your little boy is adorable. Happy, cheerful babies come from happy parents. You do such incredible work and its a pleasure to watch you create such astounding works of art!!

Beautiful baby & beautiful crib!
Thank you!
So awesome! That is a really special build, you should be very proud! Your son is adorable! Thanks for sharing
Thank you Dan!
That Crib is a work of art. Looks industrial strong and should last you threw the next 5 or 6 kids. Thumbs up, Matt.
Thank you so much! Yeah, hopefully I'll be good on cribs for a while :)
Matt the crib is amazing ! I love the fact that you start with crude hard wood and up to a final result following all the steps like resawing, milling, planing, etc.
Awesome job man, awesome !
Thank you so much! That's how I like to do things :)
+Matthew Cremona Good for all of us :-)
Very Cool, Beautiful workmanship. Beautiful baby too. I really like the rocking crib too.
Thank you Marty!
Absolutely beautiful and great craftsmanship. Nuf' said.
Thank you Robert!
Great stuff, Matt! Love how you just integrate the knots and shore them up vs. cutting around them.
Thank you Brad!
+Matthew Cremona at 17:20, what type/kind/brand paint did you use on that grey dresser? Love the look of it!
Beautiful work, Matt! Honestly there are no words to describe the beauty within this piece of furniture especially since it was for your son. I'm sure a whole lotta love went into this as well. :)
Thank you Shawn! :)
Fantastic Matt. I learned a couple of new things on this one. Jr. is getting so big!
Thank you Jeremy! Glad to hear that. Yeah, that kid is growing like a weed!
As usual you never fail to educate and entertain. Edutainment. Great project and video!

This will be my first child and I cant wait to try to build the crib. I have always wanted to do it but my woodwork skills are not the best but I am sure that with this videos help I can do it in 6 months. Thanks Matt!!!

That is one beautiful crib for one cute kid! Great video, Matt. Love the look of walnut and brass together.
Thank you Randy! I love the combo too. Going to have to do more of that in the future
Man, that's a lot of work! I can't imagine ever having the patience to finish a project of this magnitude in the short amount of time that it's needed. My son would be graduating from high school before I finished it for him. That's cool that it can be adapted to be used as a bed in the future.
I'm surprised I got it done :) luckily for me, JR really likes the bassinet so that bought me some time. Thank you!
Great work Matt and JR is looking great. Regards.
Thank you Ron!

Gratifying work for such a wonderful necessity.
