    Kevin, you have reminded me of my love of audio from the 70's. I'm 63 now, retired from the Navy and more driven than ever to own a set of the new Cornwall IV's. I really miss the stereo stores of the 60's and 70's. All gone now, what a shame. I am so glad you are still here; I really appreciate you sir. Cheers.

    Cornwalls rock, for sure. Loved them for many years. But I'm still rockin' my Belle Klipsch. Most beautiful and delicious speaker they ever made!

    Not wrong on the break in period. I got the forte IV’s and was like what. The. Frick?!?
    Then literally, after a week I was playing music and turned it up a bit and - holy crap! I was hearing sounds that I thought were coming out of my surrounds. I had to check if I was in stereo and I didn’t believe it! The imaging, staging, the treble met the mid range with grace.
    I still listen with amazement and literally the soundstage continues to surprise me daily.

    I love Kevin and UA..they have always been great. However I think an honest post is fair. I bought a set of these from UA about 4 months ago and they are in a 24x28 room. I immediately had an issue with a mid driver buzzing and they sent another which fixed that side. 3 weeks later the other side started buzzing and they replaced that one with no hassle. We aren't sure why it happened but all my gear came from UA and I wasn't cranking them. They DO break in and change a bit but I'm still trying to find this "magic" position to the point I'm starting to question my Rogue Audio Atlas Amp (KT120s). These speakers are NOT a step backwards in my mind but I'm not $6k impressed with them at the moment. The terminal cable shown in the video is not what you get (it's the standard metal pieces connecting the 2.). I will also say I demoed a set of Magnapan 1.7i at a dealer before I ordered the Cornwalls and I wasn't blown away with those either. So maybe it's me.

      Speakers are only as good as the room. If you don’t have any, I would highly recommend acoustic treatment. Even cheap diy panels can make a huge difference and eliminate room nodes and sharpen up the imaging

    Got to hear the Forte. No way it’s bright. It might have an extremely mild horn tone but it’s just so mild that it’s not that obvious. They are nice speakers. Would love to listen to the La Scala one day.

    I'm blessed to have the vintage cousin of these, the Chorus 2... Which split the difference size-wise and feature-wise between the Cornwall (mine have a 15" woofer too) and the Forte (with a passive radiator)... Once positioned properly they are remarkable. The musical texture along with the dynamics are like a real musical instrument...and not just a "sound projector" if you will. They cannot be all things to all people, and neither can any other speaker, but with my Klipsch heritage speakers I find myself grinning and tapping my toes far more than I have with any speakers I've ever owned.

    • @millermark445
      @millermark445 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I heard the Chorus at a store that sells used audio equipment. Not impressed. In fact, I was underwhelmed. To be fair, it might have been the way they were positioned (close together and against a wall). They sounded tinny to my ears. But then, no Klipsch speaker has ever wowed me. I've tried to like them (I've heard the whole Heritage series) but just can't get there, which is why I've stuck with my ADS 1230s for close to 40 years. In fact, back in '83 when I bought the 1230s, I heard an a/b against the Cornwalls at the same store. No contest.

    Hello, to me Klipsch never made a bad sounding speaker, i love them all, I have noticed that on many websites, they Do not, do a Listening of the speakers, Why , 1n 1989 i purchased a pair of Klipsch Horns for $3000 bucks new, i wanted the Big Ones, I power them with Manley Tube 20 watt Mono Blocks, They sound Great listening to Guns & Roses, But i Prefer listening to a Symphony on them, you think you are at the concert, one day i was listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and i turned it up a lot, 20 watts mind you, and the sound Pressure from the Bass actually cracked my front room window, that blew my mind, Cousin Figel

    I wonder if you could provide me with a little advice. I own a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls (I) which I purchased in 1977-1978. They seem a bit lackluster compared to their original performance, but many other parts of my audio system have changed, and I've aged those 43 years as well. But I wonder if the older electronics of the original crossover network might be beyond their useful life. How can I tell? And if they are expired, can I simply replace the entire crossover with the ones from the Cornwall IVs? Although I'm not certain how to acquire said crossovers...

    I was at Axpona this year and heard the Spendor 2/3 in the Sound Organisation room. To my ears that system was the best I heard that day. Those speakers disappeared, I thought the artists were there in the room. I see that Upscale sells Spendor. Anybody out there heard the Spendor and the Cornwalls? Thank you.

    On the Andrew Robinson channel, he reviewed the Klipsch Cornwall IV. He said you can order the wood and the front covers to your liking. The Cornwalls he had looked beautiful. His have light wood with a light lamb's wool front cover.

    When I bought my Cornwall IV’s I thought, “I just made a $6.5K mistake”. Then after about 150 hours of listening, they became another speaker. The bass was non-existent out of the box. The midrange was anemic. The highs were over-powering. After the break-in, they came alive. First speaker I have ever purchased that I believe truly “Broke In”. BTW, I run mine with PL Dialogue 6 Monoblocks my PL Prologue Premium Preamp. This is my forever system. I bought the Cornwalls locally but all of my PL gear from Upscale. Upscale is the REAL DEAL! ✌️

    I had a couple Cornwall twos and the problem was I kept going through voice coils on every driver actually. So ultimately I up dated to some of their industrial voice coils. My dealer kept putting them in for free. I was driving it with an adcom 200 watt per channel amp. Ultimately, I bought a rock nightclub that had 4 LaScalas and those huge Woofers that everybody used to dance on. Industrial. That system rocked. Dinosaur Jr, Reverend Horton Heat Even Soundgarden played through that system. Very few problems

    I bought Cornwall IVs a couple of months ago. I also have KLF20s that I’ve owned for many years. The KLFs have titanium tweeter upgrades and have a bit more top end sizzle but the CWIV midrange is a nice step up. Bass is a bit punchier on the KLFs but the Cornwalls are really quick and tight for such a large driver. The soundstage is also much wider with the CWs. Overall the CWs are easily the best speaker I’ve ever owned.

    Bullshit baffles brains Kevin. And I'm running gently used Cornwall IV's on the L & R and a brand new Heresy IV as my Center Channel. 1968 Bose 901's Resto-Modded for my Surrounds.
    BUT........That 15" Woofer needs juice to make "the earth move under my shoes". I get that courtesy of an Orchard Audio Ultra Dual Mono Fully Balanced Amplifier feeding 500W@4ohms (cause with the straps on, CW4's are 4ohm speakers). The Mids and Tweets would do nicely though with a flea bag teeny tiny SET Amplifier. No arguement there.
    You guys have a great online store and I'm glad I spent some money with you Guys last year (8 6H30's and 4 KT150's - all cryo'd - "ooh I'm a believer").

      I just measured the impedance with the straps on and it's 6 ohms. So with the tiny bit extra from the cables you'd be slightly closer to 8 than 4. However it's SO slight I think you can set it to taste.

    Minimum square feet room size recommended for these Cornwall speakers?

    • @dannyfannyfoodle
      @dannyfannyfoodle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have mine on the “long” wall of a dedicated room that’s only 13.5’ X 12’. Powering them with a Conrad Johnson CAV-45S2 and it’s pretty incredible. Placement took quite some time and experimentation to get just right. They are about 8’ apart and a foot-and-a-half from the front wall. I sit about 8 feet away and they are ever so slightly toed in. Huge soundstage that is deep and wide and quite tall. Imaging is okay, but these are giant horn speakers, so that’s not their strong suit.
      If you have a small room, don’t let that scare you. Cornwalls were designed for wall and corner placement (corner wall = Cornwall) and the front port really helps in this regard. I have no issues with bass overloading my small room.

      @@MikeGervasi I enjoyed my MMG's & Emotiva stack for several years, and even auditioned 20.7's powered by Ayre monoblocks at a place in Centerville, VA, but in recent years I just wasn't listening to my system very much at all anymore.
      Just out of curiosity (fed by videos from Upscale Audio & Paducah) I went to a Klipsch Heritage merchant in Toledo, OH and auditioned Cornwall IV's powered by McIntosh.
      That was it. I decided I would trade the Maggies' last word in top-end resolution for the dynamics and realistic impact of horn speakers. I was smitten. Even then, I was worried that the Cornwalls wouldn't scale as well as Maggies on full-size symphony orchestra content.
      Long story short, while steeling myself to save up for La Scalas, a special opportunity to nab Klipschorns at the right price fell in front of me, and I pulled the trigger. No regrets. Not one.
