I find it funny how people ask you this. 95% of the knife community are not collectors, they’re hoarders. And they don’t even use their knives. They take pictures for Instagram or they’re “safe queens”
Too true. From my time in various forums it always amused me how any given person will get a brand new knife and say “I can’t wait to beat on this thing and put it through its paces”. Then a month or 2 later the exact same knife is up for sale with “new in box never used or carried” 😅
@@stonefox9124 I have quite a few knives and a lot of them are quite expensive so I definitely help in that respect, I was just making the point that the people that are upset with Joe for not hard using his knives are probably the same people that don’t use their knives at all, but it seem you are one of these guys since you got so upset
Same. I might process kindling if my hatchet isn’t near me. I generally task fire starting to a friend usually. I’m like the general of the campsite and like to delegate everything to my buddies. 😂
Practical thoughts overall. I’d like to know that certain fixed blades could withstand some abuse if pushed into a survival situation, but really for planned excursions there is a proper tool for each job and knives should only need to do so much. With that said I am a knife batoner!
I’ll baton the odd little piece if I’m being lazy but usually in so lazy, I throw whole logs into my fires. 😂 I like that others do destruction videos for the same reasons… and so I don’t have to. 🙂
Joe you never have to explain yourself to some people that just troll or have very little common sense. Most of us understand that you buy knives to use only for the purposes for which they are intended. Your videos are a blessing to us all. If they complain they need to find another channel..Sorry truth bomb.
Appreciate you having my back bud! The trolls are out there, but by and large, the knife community has gotten me through the speed bumps of life. This channel has turned into a really positive experiment. Appreciate ya! 🍻
I do hard use my knives but I do a lot of outdoor activities. I used them for fire prep at home, camping, and hiking. There's nothing like hiking to the top of a foothill or mountain and having a fire and enjoying the view. I'm an unusual knife guy though I have 3 knives but buy and sell to try different things sometimes. 1 is a heavy use chopper, 1 is a general use knife (kitchen, camping, hiking, fire prep) and the 3rd is an EDC fixed blade for general cutting tasks.
Use your stuff how you want. The fact that the this topic can bother so many people is unreal to me. Some people beat there stuff up and others dont. Some of us prefer to clean up our knives and have them look nice, and others want them to look beat up and used. To each their own.
Joe- great video. Why beat the crap out of it to try to break it? I do use mine- but I’m becoming more of a collector, I suppose you could call it hoarding- but I have them if I need them.
Was looking for a diamond sharpener and the one you have in video/description link looks perfect, thanks!
I swear by those! Enjoy bradda!

Well put my friend. Couldn’t agree more.

@@WhispyWoods. 100% mate and when you try to sell a knife that’s been lightly used, no one wants it
😂 those "hoarders" generate 95% of the income for knife makers to give u all these options!

Sorry man, I guess we can be a bit needy 😢 here. But we all loves ya .You got us all hooked on your content like a crackhead on crack. 🤣
Nah man. Folks like you are the ones keeping me going. 5MK is a group effort now and you are appreciated. 🍻
I baton smaller pieces to start a fire but not like torcher testing or anything.

Use what you like. I carry some "hard use" knives and don't really do a lot of hard use shit these days. I have always liked bigger knives.
Appreciate the backup on this one! I didn’t think it’s be a popular opinion…
