    CORRECTION: I misspoke and the frame is actually new, the old frame was a single tube steel frame. Still steel though.
    Oh and it has a fuel gauge now! How novel.

    I'm seeing a lot of negative crap from people saying it isn't better because it's not lighter and more powerful. Well if they put a fire breathing 450 motor in, those same people would be whining about 600 mile oil changes and 1500 mile valve adjustments. it has a LOT of changes! I think the frame and suspension changes might be a lot bigger than people realize. Kayaba makes good suspension and the ergos look a lot better, so I'm interested to see how it handles now. The engine might not be more powerful, but it should start easily, run at any altitude, and get better fuel mileage helping extend range. The clutch design sounds nice, and I'm betting that they did update the gear ratios. Not a 6 speed, but I bet it is improved a bit. It has LED lighting and turn signals. A better display with fuel gage. Ok, maybe we don't need ABS, but that allows it to be sold in more markets, which might help keep the cost down. And it's not a bad thing to have on wet roads on a bike that will get used to commute on a lot. And they made it easy to turn off. It's not meant to be a KTM350 killer. We have plenty of high maintenance barely legal dual sports from Beta and KTM as well as Honda's 450L. That wasn't what they aimed for. They went for the rider that wants to jump on day after day after day, ride to work, explore dirt roads on the way home, and take off on long exploratory adventures. I'm personally excited to see how it rides and handles now, and think it could hit a sweet spot of power, handling and reliability for a lot of riders.

      Every single cylinder coming out of India and China makes 45 hp these days. And they aren't half the engineers that Suzuki are. It is not difficult to make that kind of power while retaining long service intervals and reliability. Suzuki just got lazy. Same reason the CRF450L sucks. Because Honda re-used a motocross engine from 20 years ago! If the Japanese would get off their asses and build a new engine from scratch, then we wouldn't have these tradeoffs anymore

      @ Suzuki created a motor that could be sold in even the most strictly regulated markets in the world. Think about how much tighter the restrictions have gotten in 25 years. To only lose 1 horsepower with all the restrictions is remarkable. And they know that once on the street, everyone is going to modify it. Yoshimura will have a new pipe for it yesterday! A pipe and ECU, or ECU flash is going to jump it right over 40hp quite nicely. And there will be a segment that just wants it to be super quiet with high mpg and will just ride it as is. Besides overall horsepower, things like throttle response and engine manners are every bit as important.

    Jeez everyone wants Suzuki to suck so bad. Yes it has 5 gears BUT gear ratio is different (how many freaking gears does everyone want, it’s only 400cc intended for on and off road use), the entire bike has basically been revamped. As far as 400cc enduro style bikes go this is sick af. It’s a freaking leisure bike to go ride and have fun with, not race a gsxr or race sx. Get over yourselves.

      i got a 04 sm kicker that i spend shitload of money to make it fun so no this bike its not worth it.Its the same old drz with an efi and some new plastics no 6 gear no more cc i bet suspension is soft as butter like the old sm models and no 4 piston front brake. Now you got ktm 390 smc why buy drz when you can get this

    • @jakeviolet2195

      How many fricken gears do we want? Six. Just like every other bike released in the last decade. The bike has not been fully-revamped. Far from it. It's the same old bike with the bare minimum of upgrades to make it Euro compliant.

    I don’t get all the hate. They could have not updated it but they did. I just hope they do the same to the DR650. Other than the ugly pig of a tractor KLR who else is updating their 80s/90s dual sports at all? Thing is sick, definitely going to test ride one, if you want a modern Husky 701 do it. If you want a beginner KLX300 do it. I’m glad this bike exists rather than doesn’t. Dope.

    I have a 2012 and absolutely love the bike and still going strong! I’ve always said it would be great if if had fuel injection so happy they did but they missed the bullseye not giving it a sixth speed! Nonetheless it’s an awesome bike and incredibly reliable! 🤙🏻🇨🇦

    Just saw your channel today, good stuff. Like everyone else, I was hoping for a 6 speed, but I did hear they changed up the gearing... With a little time we'll see what kind of useful mods will pop up. The euros have more huff, but do you want to ride or wrench?

    • @lexdfox

    From what I heard, the seat Hight is pretty high. I wonder if it will feel top heavy with its weight. I cant complain about the improvements, Japan has to step up their game to stay competitive.

    • @lexdfox
      @lexdfox  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      according to their website, the seat height is actually 0.6in shorter than the outgoing 400. I'm used to the seat height of the CRF which is even taller. But the added weight is in the electronics, might make it a little more top heavy.

    Idk about yall but this is it for me im buying this. Am i gonna miss my Fz6R? yes. May i keep it? Maybe! • @Roadstaryoung
    @Roadstaryoung หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    If it’s not broke why fix it? The 400 is a low budget bike that’s extremely reliable. Simple as that if you want your fuel injection and all that sort of crap yourself a house you know if you want more power and all that sort of shit I love the fact that I can take out and it’ll get me home every time Simple this Cadillac convertible I hate itand you can’t push that. I don’t know if that’s true or not so I don’t know on Trail bikes but like I said have a great bike leave alone.

    @mollygrubber หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Ah, Suzuki... you had such a golden opportunity here and you blew it, by being Suzuki AGAIN. I was hoping for a modernized engine and chassis, weight reduction program, 6th gear - basically a reliable, easy to maintain Suzuki version of the CRF450L. Maybe not a true unicorn (if there is such a thing for an entire market rather than on an individual basis), but it could have been SO much better. I love you guys, but I also really hate you too lol.

    • @jakeviolet2195
      @jakeviolet2195 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Its the same bike with upside down forks, EFI and new plastics. While I do appreciate those upgrades, they were not the areas that needed the biggest improvement on the old DRZ. The carb on the old bike was smooth and reliable and the supension was not bad either. The biggest problems were the close ratio 5 speed transmission and the lack of power. It was fine offroad, but on the road it was a dog. It needs 45 hp and a 6 speed to compete with the myriad of other small adventure and dual sports coming on the market.

  • @EGARides-87
    @EGARides-87 หลายเดือนก่อน

    KTM is gonna smoke this, with their 6 speed quickshifter and more power on the new 390 SMC-R.

  • @jtjt210
    @jtjt210 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I don't get why people get excited about this announcement. The only excitement I have is that this may drop the price of used DRZ400s. I don't need fuel injection or "improved" looks. I definitely don't need 15-20 more lbs of weight or frankly traction control on a 38hp bike??? It's going to be a good bike/ cult bike because it's going to be pretty much the same as the DRZ400 (except heavier). I'm repeating myself now, because I can't wrap my head around this - HP, Torque, RPMs, number of gears are basically the same but the bike is HEAVIER... In fairness this is good for markets where it has been removed because of emission compliance. For the rest of us the benefits seem "slim"
    So I'm probably not their target market lol. I'm looking forward to a used DRZ400 to include with my other bikes in about a years time when many buyers start wondering if they want to buy a bike with the "hassle" of carburation

    Lots of excitement….price, throttle response, engine vibrations, ride quality. We are just looking at pics. Hopefully it doesn’t go the way of the 450L and 450RL. Last year the old DRZ was getting too expensive here in Canada, the 300L is 9000 C$ out the door, bikes are being priced out or existence. Even a bike like T7 that is supposed to be basic is now 15 500 c$ out the door. If manufacturers want new customers, they need to build affordable stuff. Just look at current state of the auto industry, and that is the future of the moto industry if they don’t wake up. When I hear rider aids on a 400cc bike … I probably won’t be buying one. It’ll be too expensive for what it is.
