Yeah, cool video, cool car, thanks to both of you for keeping me entertained! I always laugh at how Kyle spots cars left and right nonstop, I do the same thing when I’m driving😆 I always see people I know, but they never see me
at 6:55, you say that the RAV4 Prime and the Porsche E-Hybrids "really are the exceptions" for PHEVs being mostly bad because of bad all-electric range... But Kyle, you forget about the new Volvo Extended Range PHEVs! You reviewed one in Oct. 2021 over in Belgium (I think it was) that you raved about and caused me to order and buy an XC60 T8 ER last spring! And the XC60 T8 ER is every bit as good as you said it was, in terms of the drivetrain. Yeah, it's a pain because being in all-electric mode means you can't drive in AWD (the electric motors are on the rear axle only), but I routinely get 38-40 miles of all-electric range in urban, non-highway-speed driving in my Volvo PHEV, and the Porsche E-Hybrids with the 17.9-kWh battery pack get less miles, as far as I can see, under similar (non-highway-speed) driving conditions. I have a request in for an allocation for the new 2024 Cayenne E-Hybrid with the 25.9-kWh battery pack; that should have all-electric range approaching the RAV4 Prime's 50-mile range in urban, non-highway-speed driving (yes, we have a RAV4 Prime, as well). Also, at 16:30, you say this is the "base Panamera", but it is not; this car has ca. 455 hp and ca. 516 lb-ft of torque -- quite a bit more than the RWD-only Panamera and the non-E-Hybrid Panamera 4.
That South Carolina BMW factory has become the company' largest in the world and most of its vehicles are exported. Great success story. By the way, after buying a BMW i4 recently, I stumbled on a great perk.....free participation in the BMW Performance Experience for me and a guest, which I took advantage of at their facility in Thermal, CA.
MTA does have a few fully electric buses but the are still a few and as a pilot program . Curbside charging near the park 93rd W , w 84th , W 76 I believe , I was just amazed that you found parking and there was an empty spot in front of you. Also unlike San Francisco, smashed windows is not as common anymore, leaving your car on blocks is back though, sometimes they don’t even use blocks.
Very interesting to have side by side comparison on a road trip. I still prefer the anxiety free and flexibility of ehybrid panamera. Not sure why the trip averaged only 30 mpg on the panamera
At 56:04 there was confusion about the fact that the Taycan was not auto starting when you hit the breaker. That is a feature of Tesla. The Porsche will start when you close the door and a key is in the car. You do not need to be holding the break at all.
Kyle, my wife gets migraines and has been on various treatments. one thing a neurologist told her a while back was to avoid excedrin. There's a pretty healthy amount of caffeine in there and it was sending her into a migraine rebound cycle because she had gotten so addicted to the caffeine in the excedrin! Would recommend switching to tylenol or aspirin. She also has stomach trouble from the amount of NASID pain killers she has taken so she now needs to avoid those. Hope this helps! Car related...how is the low speed braking in the Panny hybrid? I'm finding that braking from 20-0 in our '23 Cayenne Hybrid is, well, a bit lumpy. Not sure if the e-motor through the trans, or regen/ blended braking issues or what.
Exceeding is Tylenol plus caffeine. And yes caffeine creates a physical addiction. aspirin is an NSAID and should be taken with food to avoid the stomach trouble. All that being said, everyone is different. Your wife’s treatment is specific to her body’s needs and will not work with everyone.
It seems like you stay at Fairfields and Springhills quite a lot. I think you'd benefit a lot from something like Amex Brillant card or Chase Bonvoy Bounless card. If not, at least you can make Marriott Plat or Ambassador based on the nights you stay. That'll earn you a lot of free nights
I couldn’t get those chargers to work the last time I was there…Maybe it was user error, or my Tesla CCS not being compatible. I LOVE the BMW Performance Center! Such great training!
Prius or any Toyota Hybrid are amazing roadtrippers... Long range.. Good efficiency. And you can camp / sleep in the car easily saving the cost of a Hotel.. In the older Prius's you can fit a full size air mattress in the back, cover the windows, set the temp you want, crank up the fan and it will maintain that temp all night. Burns about 2 gallons of fuel for 12 hrs straight idle time. I have a friend with a 2019 Prius Prime.. has 340,000 miles on it.. cross country courier.. sleeps in the car a lot.
Awww new relationships are so refreshing. "Where do you want to go?" One or the other says "wherever you want 😊" After 2-3 years: "Where do you want to go?" Response: "I don't give a f, just drive, ffs!" 😂😂
Did Porsche change up the terminology used for describing the specific functions of individual systems, or optional equipment/packages, depending upon which model it is? Like depending on if you’re in a Panamera or 911 or Macan or Taycan or Cayenne ect? They used to describe the system that reads the road markings, and warns the driver with an audible sound if it detects you aren't centered, or getting too close to the shoulder (Lane Departure Warning.) The system that will vibrate the steering wheel and possibly the seat base (I think) at the same time as the audible sound and intervene with gentle steering corrections to nudge you back into your lane was (Lane Keep Assist.) Which required Radar Cruise Control to be added to the build when it was configured. And (Lane Change Assist) was the system that monitors the lanes on either side of the one you’re in using radar sensors or something mounted at each corner to indicate if that lane is currently occupied or a vehicle is fast approaching by way of those amber L.E.Ds on the inside part of the sideview mirror housings. Right? It's kinda confusing when different manufacturers use different terminology for their versions of similar systems. Maybe I'm just easily confused. Where am I? I NEED AN ADULT!
Wonder why they would have the BMW museum closed on a weekend???? Its Seems like that would be the days people would be able to go to a museum? Great road trip... congrats to Anna on the new Taycan.. Beautiful car. I will say though the Panamera sounds AMAZING.. when Kyle was ripping it.. Internal Combustion can be amazing.
Hey Kyle - if you did NOT stop for a charge, how long could you go in the Panamera before the battery is drained? On the freeway and in steady driving, is it sufficiently charged by slowing or braking to keep going without charging? Or does the Panamera still run fine with a drained battery?
If I was ever to get something that uses gasoline again, it would be a range extending device, or eCVT like the Volt. That way you have the full power of the electric motors and the gas generator to get you an extra couple hundred miles if needed. And it would likely be a truck to be honest, that way your towing range would be more than 200 miles without needing a 200+ kWh battery and long charging times. Until battery storage density doubles, and 0.5-1 MW charging is everywhere, towing more than a small boat is going to be rough without gas/diesel. Doesn't make as much sense in a car with smaller batteries and fast MPH charge times, especially as more and more charge stations keep filling in the gaps.
In Chicago our busses and garbage trucks run on natural gas. Maybe you should do a podcast on that. Why don't we use natural gas to power cars? I drive a forklift at work and it runs on propane.
1:01:39 she has Kyle back it into a charger? Honestly not a good look right after spending 80g on an electric car. Reverse charging spots are very common and she can't reverse herself
Anyone know where Anna gets her accent from? She says she’s from California, but her accent isn’t like anyone I know from California. I bet it’s from Germany since Kyle spent a lot of time there and really wanted to open an office there at one time 🤔
Ok. All of these videos on TH-cam are utterly confusing. They make your eyes hate your ears, so someone help me stop the two from fighting. Is the Porsche Panamera e-hybrid in this video getting 562 miles in between fueling? And is that better than what most electric cars are getting in between charging?

The duty cycle of the Panamera charging light tells you how much charge there is in the battery: if it is 90% of the time "on" it's 90% full.
Pnamera all day every day! I guess you can now get the wagon and that would be really cool.
