Good work, Andy. You're easy to listen to. Some other guys, you wish they would shut up! lol Appreciate your delving into this. "If you don't understand your team's cap, you don't understand the NFL."
I enjoyed your guest today (spread sheet Andy). I hope the Packers bite the salary cap bullet this year and don’t compromise the (near) future window of opportunity. They have some young talented players who will all soon come due at the same time.
Great breakdown. One note: don’t forget about FB. We need one. Not all TE’s are FB’s. Remember at the MLF crossover we signed the “Superback” Danny Vitale. After he didn’t work out, we draft Deguara. When Deguara got injured, we had 3 solid TE’s on the roster. But none of them were a fit for FB. So we signed John Lovett off the street and he got immediately put into the game. When Lovett went down with an ACL we didn’t scrap the position we immediately sign Dominique Daffney mid season and again, he starts at FB immediately. Since then Deguara has been our only guy. We will sign a FB. Could be in the form of an RB or TE but I don’t believe that guy is in the roster right now. And with Josiah most likely leaving, it is an area I believe is a need.
You're the best, Andy! Thank you so much for doing this in an understandable fashion. I would kill for that draft (great job, Ross) and those free agent signings.
I really like how you did all the prep work to get under cap and cash flow you will have hard time resigning the last class. He hit on so many people in that draft he needs to sign. Receiver’s tight ends defenseman. They played solid for the first year in nfl
Restructuring Gary and Jenkins kicks the can and creates more future liability for two guys who each have had ACL injuries. Kicking the can is how GB got in this cap hell in the first place….not sure about that one for me.
A few thoughts. I really think we do something (either restructure or pay cut) to reduce that cap hit for Aaron Jones and Kenny Clark. Jones I feel like for sure wants to stay and will take a cut to save us a couple million, and we will probably restructure Kenny.
My draft wish list: In first two rounds I want a bonafide run stuffer for the D line! 1 Tackle for depth 2 Guards to increase competition on the O line 1 Center to push or replace Myers 2 Cornerbacks need a stud shutdown man coverage guy 2 Safeties need a stud big hitter for back end 1 RB to mentor as Aaron Jones replacement 1 Place Kicker to push Anders Carlson to be better or replace him Thats 11 picks, the other 3 compensatory picks can also be used to help the D! They'll need an ILB too if Devondre Campbell gets cut as expected. 1 long snapper is competent be nice too! With draft capital & more flexibility vs the cap be nice to see Gute do something in free agency! Only 2 names he's brought in during his tenure in FA were Darius & Preston Smith. He's been useless otherwise like his predecessors before him. A proven running back, a stud CB, D lineman (can stop run) & O lineman be good targets! Go Pack Go!
With the 4.5 million in cap room in this situation, could we give a couple million to Ja in 24 to make it easier to move on in the future if needed for some reason? I love Ja and I want him on the team long term but but he has not been the same level of player recently as you noted and we might need to move on soon to improve the team and I’m wondering if we could add money to 24 to lower the dead cap for a release or add cap savings for 25 if he balls out again
There isn't a good way to do that without Jaire agreeing to it, and there isn't a good reason for him to do so. On the bright side, since you can carry over cap room between years, there really isn't a need to do it either. If you don't spend that 4.5mil in 2024 you have it to use in 2025.
30 million salary cap raise baby. That's like now almost 50 without touching really anyone's contracts. Are the packers going to do what they always do and not sign a star and waste loves career like they did rodgers?????? Go sign Winfield for 18 million a year and go sign queen for 15 million. Call it good, win a superbowl. It's really that easy to give your qb a Super Bowl or bust shot.
The NBA and NFL salary caps are as complicated as the United States Tax Code, and for the very same reason. Each wants to establish rules, but for political reasons (in the NBA and NFL its usually so the home town teams can "keep their stars") there are seemingly endless esoteric exceptions to the rules.
Good work, Andy. You're easy to listen to. Some other guys, you wish they would shut up! lol Appreciate your delving into this. "If you don't understand your team's cap, you don't understand the NFL."
Love spreadsheet Andy!
Good stuff Andy. Lot’s of work and analysis on your end. Appreciated!

I do spreadsheets all day so I absolutely love this analysis! Great job breaking this all down.
The thought and research that went into this is amazing Andy!
Well done sir!
Andy is a machine, all his work is appreciated

Greatness. Ty Andy
Awesome episode Andy! My favorite in a long time! Also this roster would be a chef’s kiss!
I have been a Packer fan since birth and have never been more informed. Thanks Andy!
Spreadsheet Andy is the best, there should be a mini spreadsheet at the bottom of the every video
You should post this on a google sheet for people to look at and/or copy off to make their own! Really well done!

I tried to do this exercise and gave up after 5 minutes. Wonderful work. Thank you.
Andy, I came across a posting of yours to give suggestions on more topics for you to do a podcast. Please repost it?!?!
So freaking excited for this offseason. Thank you for the great work on this episode, Spreadsheet Andy! 😆 #GoPackGo

The thing is that they are going to have to kick the can in some capacity either way. So pick you poison with how you want to do it.

Good job with a tough topic to explain.
You must've got an A in your Accounting 101 class. Well done.
Best in the biz boye
Andy you rule
I don't know why but I'm not sold on Geno Stone.
I hate the idea of doing more and more voids and restructures

😆 "Spreadsheet Andy"
God I love this stuff lol I'm such a nerd!
If the cap actually goes up to $250M, you're not re-signing Jordan for 5/250. Gonna have to add ~$25M.

When reading up on geno stone and gearing Ravens fans talk about him Geno Stone wouldnt fit the packers defense
Agreed he’s definitely not able to run FS as the single high and is horrible against the run so that rules out the box
Sucks I just saw Campbell posting about Haffley on his Instagram, seems like he wants to come back. Gonna suck to let him go but it will make sense!
This was very interesting. The Packers have some wiggle room, good to see. GPG.
Spreadsheet Andy needs glasses, maybe s bow tie
Agreed, I had a hard time telling Spreadsheet Andy from regular Andy
We have so many young players..... it seems like we should have a ton
Here to mess up my sleep schedule! (worth it)
Aaron Jones does not deserve a pay cut.....

Norm Andy is best, Spreadsheet Andy ain't half bad either, but we can all agree the absolute worst is Spreadshit Andy.
