If my memory recalls correctly, the stuntman got only $10,000 per jump and he did it twice.

I also saw The Saint in the sixties. I loved it! Wouldn't miss an episode if I could help it. I subsequently loved everything Roger Moore did ... EXCEPT Bond, which I hated ! For my money, he played it as the Saint, but Templar and Bond are two very different characters. To this day, I consider him the worst of all the Bonds. ☹

I got to see this at the movie theatre when I was way too young because my mother really liked James Bond and daycare wasn't really a thing. I can credit Caroline Munro and Barbara Bach as the two women that got me interested in, well, women. It was also my favorite Bond film for a very long time, until I was old enough to appreciate the older films more. The oil tanker doors opening to swallow a submarine was an amazing thing to see in the movie theater, and the oil tanker interior set was incredible. To be honest, this film took some of the impact of Star Wars away from me because after seeing The Spy Who Loved Me I was harder to impress, and I didn't particularly like one film more than the other. I remember as kids in the playground we would always play act movies, including this film and Star Wars. I remember I was always Jaws or Darth Vader. I even made Jaws teeth out of aluminum foil, and found they somehow reacted with my fillings to give me what felt like an electric shock.

Saltzman selling his shares in Danjaq (the company that owns the Bond rights) to UA f**ked up the release pattern of the series and is the reason why it had so many legal problems.

    Roger Moore's Goldfinger.
This was the movie when they finally realiced that they couldnt have anyone other than Connery to play Connery, so they let Moore make his own thing.
The result? we got the wisecracking, child-friendly gentleman that was Moore's 007.

A View to a Kill has a plot that is closer to Goldfinger. Just like For Your Eyes Only is similar to From Russia with Love. Obviously You Only Live Twice can be compared to either Spy Who Loved Me or Moonraker because they all were directed by Lewis Gilbert with similar plots.

    • @garrick3727

"Roger Moore's Goldfinger" means his most iconic film, the one that came together the best. I'd have to try really hard to misinterpret that due to, you know, the words.
