Japanese snowplow

I'll introduce snowplow running on Jo-etsu line this time.
I went to shoot snowplow at Minakami station on the Jo-etsu-Line.
Northern Gunma is a region with heavy snowfall.
There are many ski resorts there.

Excellent snow clearing video. Question: What is the function of the twin plow blades that are suspended high up and out in front ? These do not appear to be used often. When are they used ? Thank you. James.

段切り装置もうまく使わないと豪雪地帯の雪はかけないですね
