On a serious note… I don’t know how you guys do it, but you CONSISTENTLY drop episodes which are exactly what I need to hear when I need to hear it. Listening to you, constantly reinforces my why. Especially when progress is slow and frustrating. This topic is super important, especially for my age and demographic, mid 40’s & female. Thank you ❤

My grandma had a fall where she broke her femur when she was around 80 and lasted another 10 years. She was very strong, dancing in her 80s after the injury health started declining. To the point that she could not walk anymore. It is not just about how long you but the quality of life as you get older.

I’ve been strength training for over 10 years (former cardio bunny) and I’m proof that lifting has a gazillion benefits. I suffered a traumatic Lis Franc fracture to my left foot. Surgically repaired. My surgeon was amazed how quickly I healed. He had never had a patient progress so quickly and attributed it to weight lifting!! You guys are fantastic!! Please don’t ever stop!!! ❤

Finally another construction guy! Man lemme tell you, I wake up at 0430 every day I lift because that's the only way I'm gonna get that lift in. I normally have oatmeal and eggs with turkey before I lift because it's quick and nutritious. I'm only in there for a half hour or so, because I have to be at the shop by 0600-0630. The first few days switching to AM lifts is rough. But it'll help you get to sleep pretty early. I hope more of us in construction can find our ways back into the gym. Not only does it make the work day easier, but I for one don't want to be the potbelly, beer drinking construction veteran that works for 14hrs and does nothing to improve the day to day lifestyle.

Loving this episode and so timely for me. I work out of a sports clinic which runs inside of a health medical centre. I’ve been a PT for over 15 years and am buzzing to have found my way into a doctors surgery.
I’m a huge fan of you guys and thanks to information like that which you have shared in this podcast…I’m about to launch a strength training service….strength training prescribed as medicine.
I know so many people that have been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. They are told to go and lose weight…any weight.
I have an Aunty in her 70’s who was in this situation and she was terrified. She dropped weight so fast and she now looks skeletal. Such dangerous advice with no guidance whatsoever.
My mission is to get the message out there, of the importance of maintaining and building muscle mass for optimal health into old age.
Thank you again…you’re like my strength training university!

    ❤Please do a youth athlete episode!!! ❤
I have an 8 year old phenom that is one of the most competitive travel baseball players in our region, and a 12 year old that is talented, but less driven so he doesn’t compete outside of a rec level. Both want to be strong, both are interested around gym equipment. There is so much bad information out there, and youth sports can be so extreme these days. Also, my 12 year old has some definite mobility issues that I’m trying to work with him on- he just finished a football season and the coaches were so reckless with conditioning that he’s got some really poor recruitment patterns right now. A lot of attention is put into my youngest by others because he stands out so much, and it makes me worry about my 12 year olds psyche as well.
I’m so glad this dad called in with this question, I’ve been listening for a couple years and id say the one topic we’re missing on is parenting and training the youth athlete.
Love you guys, keep crushing it!

Okay so random but the nail salon video! I used to go to a salon in the Bay Area that had a rather large homeless population around. Occasionally they'd wander into the salon yelling & drunk or high, but the nail technicians stayed SO calm. They literally just ignored them every time.

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2022 at age 39 I'm sure I had osteoporosis way before that because when I was 20 years old I started getting into health and fitness THE WRONG WAY , I read a stupid book from the library I can't remember what it was called but it recommended eating 500 calories a day and I was doing lots of cardio and this was back in 2003 when my eating disorders exercise bulimia and amenorrhea started, I went 11 years without menstruating, lost my period at age 21 got it back at age 31 but too little too late by then,
Between those years I never ate enough protein not enough healthy fats just peanut butter and other nut butters ,the majority of my diet was grains vegetables fruits peanut butter with small amounts of fish cottage cheese and yogurt little bit of tofu here and there,, I did go on a low-carb diet from 2018 to 2019 but that was my desperate attempt to fix my digestive issues which now I understand why I had so many digestive issues, the low carb diet was the only time in my whole adult life that I was eating enough protein but that died made me so sick so after I quit it now my focus was restoring my health and healing from the hypoglycemia I developed from eating carb, so between 2019 to around December 2021 I was eating low calorie low protein very low I was practically vegan around time
But not a smart vegan anyways long story short because this is very long after being diagnosed at age 39 with osteoporosis it was a total wake up call I told the doctor I'm not taking the medication so I did research how do I treat this naturally my dad has gotten much better now I do eat enough protein as much as I hate protein foods I hate meat fish and eggs but I do eat those things instead of killing myself with cardio I do strength training I do want to burn off some extra body fat but I know it's important to build muscle now, everything you guys talk about when it comes to fitness I wish you guys were around when I was younger back in the early 2000s
I wouldn't be with osteoporosis today if it wasn't for all the stupid crap from back in the days all the harsh intense fitness information of back then but I'm here now learning about fitness the right way the healthy way I hope I'm making a difference and healing my body And bones,,, muscle too because no doubt I lost muscle

Finally got a chance to tune into this episode, it's a little later than it was aired - busy schedule. Although I always find a way to watch my most favorite Mind Pump Men ❤️ This is a suggestion for the caller named Adam in regards to your sleep. As a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist in a sleep lab and have been for 25 years-- have you been tested for sleep apnea. Much of what you said makes me question if you may have some sleep apnea going on, even if it's a mild case. Might be worth having a sleep test done to rule that issue out, obviously along with Adam, Sal's and Justin's great suggestions.

I'd only just started lifting 2 yrs ago when I was 48, hoping to make up for years of neglect when it came to my bone health. Not long after I found out I had Grade 2 degenerative spondylolisthesis. My GP is telling me my options of surgery, rest or pilates and one of my first thoughts was I'm never going to be able to deadlift again🥺 Luckily I had enough knowledge to know that lifting is the best thing for bone strength so asked my osteopath, who was also a trainer, and had he me training my core while lifting. I've been a happy and almost pain free little redhead ever since❤️

First off just discovered this channel, and loving it. Let me also start by saying that I am a 56 yr old man who is just now starting weight training. I was physically fit up into early 40s. Although it was just martial arts fit. I ended up letting myself go. I am 5’10” 183 lbs. I will not name the program that I paid for. But will say it has me as being new to lifting currently have me eating at 1500-1600 calories and 135 grams of protein doing compound training 3days a week. I have dumbbells and a bench. I was embarrassed at how weak I had become so a gym was out of the question. I have made strength progress but after listening to this show I have heard that the calorie intake should be higher. So should I right now be focusing first on building muscle first and foremost over losing the body fat first? Should I be eating more calories of healthy food or stay in the 1500 range of calories? These are some of the exercises this program has me doing. These are all dumbbell by the way. Press, incline press, standing shoulder press, lat raises, incline face pulls, goblet squats, RDL, calf raises. All of this gets so confusing for me. One says to eat this much, another says eat less. I can’t get enough of your show though. Also listen to Huberman podcast as well. I’m just looking to get a fit and lean muscular physique. Sorry for the long winded question. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info today. Got me thinking, I am 60 yrs young, lifted years ago, and got back into it 7 months ago. My weight is the tough issue, I love my workouts, so there are no issues there ( have always done some form of daily exercise). I hit the gym 3 to 4 workouts per week and do a home workout to break it up 1 to 2 x's per week. I get on average 10,000 steps per day and play pickleball or bball etc...weather permitting. So my q is, do you know how many cals I should be getting daily? I am only 5'1 and weigh 150 lbs, which I know is heavy for my small frame. I feel I need to lose 20 to 25lbs. So I had been eating pretty low (1250 to 1300 cals per day but do eat double that on the weekends). I realize I need to stop the weekend high intake and balance it daily however what do you know about senior females and what their calories should be? I aim for 125gms protein daily and do keep my carbs low and fat at 60%. The thing is, I feel frumpy and lumpy and had looked alot leaner 3 months ago. I have not found a female older athlete that I want to follow as there are not many out there. Cannot afford a coach/dietitian and tbh am a bit skeptical as there are so many conflicting pieces of info out there. I do IF and eat whole foods. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks! ✌️👊🏼👏🏼😊

I’m confused about these salt and sodium claims as far as adding to water . Doesn’t magnesium and potassium have to be present for the electrolytes process to be successful as well ?

Splitting hairs, but bones are at their strongest about age 30, not the mid-20's. It's interesting to me that this corresponds to what the guys are always saying about coming into our best strength years in the early 30's. My personal experience is that I'm over 66 years old, have been lifting 8+ years and my dexa shows I'm just a tad off of a 30-year-old.

Hey mind pump can you add the order of running all of your programs to your website. We know it is anabolic, performance, aesthetic but what’s after that and so on.
Also about to be done with Anabolic. Just saying 😉

4:31 would bone lost be quicker as we are older if we stop strength training at a later age? Or would it just be normal bone lost?

man, I'm up in Chicago and soon as it turned fall and I stopped outdoor activity my joints started acting up even though I'm doing the same level of activity (lifting and tennis). Could this be vit D deficiency?

Guys, don't bring ANY cbd / cannabis / cannaboid products to England, cannabis and anything with THC in it is still illegal here.
Certain CBD Oil products are legal and can be bought in many shops here 👍🏻
Enjoy the weather, it's always shit 😁

That 1st caller no way she is 16% bodyfat! No way, she looks closer to 30%. Her arms have no definition lines. That's why she is not lossing bodyfat, her calories are too high and she is not on a deficit. The measurement she used to measure her bodyfat is not accurate. Get a dexascan better. That will really tell you.
