  • Sailin' On To Hawaii on my National Tricone (1931).
This Hawaii inspired song by Bashful Brother Oswald
was kind of a starting point of my Hawaiian steel guitar journey.
It is not too hard to play, nevertheless an excellent piece to work on your
    forward slants !
    The tuning I use is A Highbass (Hi to low E C#A E C# A)
Same as Dobro Tuning but one whole step up.
You'll find Tabs and Backingtracks (G and A tuning) on my website:
    hawaiian-steel...
    Hope you like it 😊!
    Aloha
    🌴
    Sebastian

I used to see Bashful Brother Oswald and Charlie Collins from Roy Acuff's band at Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee when I was a kid in high school. Hearing them in person started a life-long love affair with big Martin guitars. That's a great tribute to Oz!

Thanks so much, John. It's not too hard to use a bullet bar, you get used to it after a while and you have some advantages, like easier backward slants and lots of options when it comes to split bar slants.

Just bought a Square Neck Tricone and do not know where to go from here and need your help. I am so confused with what tunning I should use. It is in open G Taro Patch right now, DGDGBD thinking this is a Hawaiian tunning. Now I just discovered the Lap Guitar videos I have been watching are DOBRO, GBDGBD. Then I found someone who says he uses ''A-Highbass the early version of the infamous Dobro tuning that in the early style of Sol Hoopii used. I have .016 to .059 strings on as National Guitar told me to do for open G or D tuning. Do I use the Dobro tunning GBDGBD or open G, DGDGBD or A C# E A C# E turned down that I cannot figure out so I do not need to buy special strings?? Thank you!!!
