Anyone still talking NIL see that they finished 16th in rushing yards per game which is only 6 spots behind ND. Meanwhile, against an even weaker SOS, IU was 52nd. ND has to just control the run on both sides, force IU as it gets colder and colder into scramble situations and put the game away in the 4th qtr.
I think Indiana is a really good team, and I think ND is a decent matchup for the Hoosiers. IF ND wins this game, it will be because they won a fight against a strong opponent. I think some ND fans are taking the Hoosiers too lightly. They can play.
Sunseri is not the OC!!! IU DID play huge P4 competition. Michigan was # 9 in Sept and played like a top 20 since the 2nd H of IU game. Wash, Neb were top 25 in Sep! They beat that 9 game schedule wh includes 10 defeat Purdue, a defeat at OSU, a schedule whose Win% was 60% at gametime and beat them all by avg score 40-17! The field looks like it'll be dry and high 20s temp. IU will be well prepared and play very free and wide open! Watch out!
I think Tim Murray is spot on about Mitchell Evans and the other Tight Ends being the X factor against the smaller Indiana linebackers and nickel backs. Go Irish ☘️
Figurehead Freeman has [actual coaches] Golden and Denbrock to do his job and win games for ND. Gotta cover for the black head coach, right? That was easy.
Oh, you guys . . . This has become a pattern: whomever Notre Dame beats becomes nothing. You guys are deeply downplaying the win at A&M with Moss at RB for them. If this year has proven anything, it is how incredibly difficult it is to win a game like that in the SEC. And do you think Indiana has a win this year that is better than beating Louisville? Or in Atlanta over Georgia Texh (as UGA found out). Do you think Indiana has a win as good as winning @ USC? You are committing a category error by lumping IN and ND into the “weak schedule” group.
Kurtis Rourke is the highest rated qb in the playoffs. IU has the #1 defense against the run. You guys are very confident of the win. IU fans wanted Notre Dame. You do not match up well against us. Rourke was injured in the Ohio State and Michigan games having had surgery and 2 pins put into the thumb on his throwing hand. That definitely limited his ability to throw touch passes. That should be completely healed now. You can stop 1-2 receivers but Notre Dame hasn't face a qb that will throw to 10 during a game. IU has multiple good receivers. Our leading receiver from last year transferred mid season because he couldn't get on the field. If IU holds your running game to the same #'s as Ohio State and Rourke is Rourke, you lose.
Cold and wind could make throwing difficult for Rourke. Not to mention he really hasn't faced any good pass rushes except OSU and MI. Plus, the ND defense has faced a better QB (Slough) this season and better receivers from USC and Louisville. Not sleeping on IU at all, but if both teams bring their best ND will cover. As for the IU rush defense, looks solid to me but outside of OSU, every rush offense IU played has been outside of the top 97. IU fans are certainly...confident...to say the least. We'll see on Friday.
@@americanp4triot134 It was the same weather against Purdue 2 weeks ago. IU put up 66 (I know, Purdue). But Rourke looked better on his touch passes. In QBR rating, Slough is 22. Rourke is 3rd only behind Cam Ward and Dillion Gabriel. You haven't faced a QB as good as Rourke. He was completing 75% of his passes before the injury. That dipped significantly to the 50's after. But its been 6 weeks. He should be 100%. If both teams are at their best, it probably comes down to a field goal. I like our chances😉.
@@drizzle452 Actually not. Some are picking IU but most are just happy to be in the game. A really good IU football team is a such a new experience for the fan base. But what we have seen all year is opponents that think IU can't be good. There's no way an IU team can compete. The best was the vaunted Nebraska 'Black Shirt' defense that was going to completely shut down the IU offense. That didn't work out well for them. IU is really good. The Notre Dame running game is really good and both teams have strong defenses. I do like our chances. This won't be a blowout either way. Cignetti prides himself on winning close games in the 4th. We'll see. I think it will be a great game. Remember 11 of 12 playoff teams have their season come to end with a loss. I'm trying to enjoy the ride too.
A lot of made up math in that explanation, but OK. Agreed Rourke is a good QB. Here is my take on fake math: most talented ND roster in last ten years + best ND coaching staff since the 80s = best chance ND has had in a long time. That’s why we feel good, regardless of opponent
This new guy is great - please have him on all podcasts!
Great to see Matt. I wish him well and hope he continues to get better.

Great to see you Matt! Happy to see you are feeling better.
Great to have you back Matt! 🎉
I think this era of NIL works in Marcus Freeman's favor. Coaches now have to be part "rockstar" with players.
Right coach for this era of the sport
Y'all, Tim is real good...keep him!

Welcome back Matt!
Didnt know Matt was having trouble.

Somebody tell Tim where his camera is located 🤣
Pony up Pete it's a good thing
Trent Crimm (The Independent!) needs to guest host. Sorry I had to.
Appreciate the respect for IU, but I see more 31 - 17
IU is playing with house money here they have nothing to lose ND does. IU wasnt supposed to be here. All the pressure is on the mighty Irish.
Figurehead Freeman has [actual coaches] Golden and Denbrock to do his job and win games for ND. Gotta cover for the black head coach, right? That was easy.
ND 34 IU 10
Geez….. should Indiana just stay home guys???
Yeah, they should
IU guards are no good, they will not be able to run up the middle.
Oh, you guys . . .

It’s an ND podcast. The market wants to hear positive vibes…I’m sure IU hosts are picking IU in a close game too. Productions are the same everywhere
