As a beginner to acrylic painting, I’ve watched dozens of videos for beginners but this is the ONLY one that has addressed the need for and discussed the proper paint consistency. I would see artists putting the pain directly on the canvas with a palette knife and blending it with a brush but mine never turned out like theirs.....now I know why! Thanks for this video.

would live to hear more about how you developed your style, it seems so confident and consistent. At what point in your career did you decide that this was the "voice" you wanted in your art and how did you come to that decision?

I wish I knew about this video a year ago! It would have saved me so much trouble and frustration. I found that adding a couple coats of gesso to a "prepared" canvas makes a big difference in the texture. I also use 220 grit sandpaper to knock down the gesso.
I've been upgrading my paints as they need replacing. It's crazy how much quality changes with water-based mediums. But now I know to look for the buttery consistency. That's a big help.
Hannah, please keep making videos like this. Don't worry if it's the "right" way. I just like to see how other artists approach problems.

Awesome video for your first attempt Hannah. Bloody good stuff mate, "come take my job". Haha. Yes, it's like that isn't it. You start to have some success and all of a sudden everyone wants to know your secrets. I am a self taught artist, so I love to hear what everyone else does to achieve quality strokes. Thanks for your advice. :)

I am a big fan of your unique art work, i have purchased prints, notebooks and stickers. I also participated in The Obanoth Zoom class which was very helpful in understanding your painting style.
As a plein air painter, and studio painter, I recommend Baby Wipes to easily remove paint on you hands.

I enjoyed the informative video. As far as unsolicited advice... I think injecting some personality into your video/content/creations, as you have done in this video, is the right step. It makes me connect the visuals to a person, and that makes me more willing to see what you are making and recall you specifically if I'm thinking of painting. E.g. if I'm trying to list a cool painter when I'm talking to someone about art.

lol! I despise canvas texture too. ;)~ I love boards, wood, pressed pannel. also I don't like the bounce of canvas. Love your work, I follow you on IG (among many, ). Great first video, super cool!...I use acrylic too, thanks fo rthe advice. I also airbrush. Try out Createx, its an airbrush paint but, its very flowy, and work great with brushes too. It comes in opaque, and transparent. I like how it drys in a sorta elastic, flexible form. not flaky. it doesn't matter much but, its cool to peel off the dried stretchy paint, off a pallet. try it. keep it up! Oh, I have an idea for another video: tell us how your poor "thumb nail" broke! Yikes. jk,..but kinda not. that's a bend back one. ;)))

Thank you for posting this video. My issue is when I make a mistake painting with acrylics I have to use sooooooooo much white to cover up my mistakes. Because of the transparency of the colors. Then I lay down the white, and once it's dry paint on the correct color. So I ordered a set of Golden Heavy Body Acrylic Paints. Hoping they will be less transparent then the regular paints I've been using. In the set I'm waiting for will be. Alizarin Crimson, Cad Yellow Light, Cad Red Light, Indian Yellow Hue, Prussian Blue Hue, Ultramarine Blue, and Viridian Green. If you or anyone has experience using any or all of these. I would really appreciate some advice. Thank you very much, Dave.

Really good but you should maybe explain why you don't like thick acrylics and why you like smooth supports - it looks like the reason is you do detailed pictures which is great but younger people would love to you tell them why exactly; why canvas and thick paint is not suitable for technical / illustrative stuff - but all good your work looks really nice
