This game is seriously underrated and it only gets better the more you play it and the more items you unlock. I'm about to prestige (level 100) and I still feel like I'm learning new stuff every day because the game is so detailed (burning corpses so they dont get revived, knifing limbs to cripple monsters, distracting cage dogs with throwing knives and lots more)
As a veteran player, the biggest tip I can give you: do not make noise. Do not waste your ammo on the generic zombies around the map. You can run out of ammo pretty fast if you aren't careful. As you level up, after a certain level, game gets a lot harder and game matches you with high tier hunters (tier 3) and prestiged too. Make sure you avoid scaring birds and any other wildlife as experienced players track down other players by sound. Entire game is basically all played around sound. Make as less noise as possible. If you got zombies in your way, try to avoid them or kill them with melee or throwing knives. If you keep on playing, you will eventually get to a level where you will be vs highly experienced players which makes the game really hard. Avoiding hunters meanwhile doing bounties is really hard. Once you are banishing a bounty, all hunters on the map are notified and can see the location of banishment and will slowly make their way towards there to contest for the bounty. In short: be careful, have your eyes and ears on high alert and try to go around the map as quietly as possible.^^ I'm really glad you made a video on this game. This game isn't doing well in terms of player count and any advertisement like this helps.
Well as the guys with the bounty u get 10s time where u can see nearby players so u will know if ppl camping and stuff and the 10s u use them with ur E

well if crytek would start listening to their swiftly shrinking playerbase and maybe start fixing some of the glaring technical issues or the incredibly broken matchmaking system then maybe it would succeed, but from what i've read in steam reviews its getting worse not better and is actually worse than it was over a year ago and crytek doesnt seem to care and the only recent effort they put into the game was pretty christmas outfits over the holidays, because you know, thats more important than players actually being able to play the game and enjoy doing so

@@andrewj6497 Quick Play isn't really Battleroyal. Of course it is Battleroyal-ish but There are no 100 Players. There are 10. It still has AI, There is no shrinking zone but The palyer wants to find the last clue to get The Bounty. Other players want this too so they will hunt him down to get a bit of that cash. Last Man Standing will get the Hunter and Weapons for free. It has a lot of more to it. There is no Item and Equipment looting and Loot doesn't decide how good ur round will be like in BR-Games. And I'd like to add that a round of Battleroyal is in all cases a throw away thing, meaning, If you win a round of BR there is nothing you really get. Here, you have the chance of pushing your in-game economy.
Well, the game IS a very original take on the battle royale genre. Sure, killing other players is purely optional, but the overall setup is pretty much a objective-based battle royale horror shooter. I mean, it's like a BR game for people with actual taste in games. It's not shameful to do battle royale if you do it well.
I'm glad this game is getting out to more people. If I had to pick a game right now that was the most underrated and underplayed it would definitely be hunt showdown. Almost nobody is talking about it and yet it's one of the best co-op/pvp games out right now.
Hey man, really like seeing you playing this game. In case you want to play more of it I want to give you tip..... Sound is very important in this game. If you shoot a gun, scare crows, or triger any other soundtrap in the game, every other player on the map will hear that. Intensity of the sound effect depends on the distance they are away from your position and they will be able to tell the direction from which the sound is coming from. So if you shoot a gun you are giving away your position to other players. Use knife to kill lesser enemies (zombies, hives, etc.). The most important skill in the game is to move fast without making any sound.
For real, you can knife the common zombies in like 2 hits and throw lanterns to kill hives and shit and Peon is complaining about ammo being scarce as he uses like 7 bullets to kill a common zombie lol, to be fair I get spooked easily and in the brief time I played this game I played super slowly because I was scared lol (just refunded the game because I was only getting like 25 fps because I need to upgrade my gpu, and the controls were pretty annoyingly janky)
Wow, I think this is like the second or third time I am genuinely interested in an early access game enough to buy it immediately after watching one video. This game looks awesome, even though the fact that it is spooky at times is a bit worrying for someone like me, I think it works well enough with this game that I won't really mind the scary parts. After playing 15 years of shooters this game still gets my adrenaline going. The difference between the slow parts and the fire fights with other people and the fact that you can lose your equipment any time to a guy hiding in a barn is really exciting.

The last time my heart was racing as fast and hard in a video game was back in 2012 when DayZ (the mod) came out and the first PVP encounters were pure unfiltered "ohnofuckoffIjustfoundthisgunpleasedon'tkillmeaaaaaah!" moments. This game, even after 75+ hours still managed to get me on the edge of my seat when a bullet hits the wall right next to me. Superb art design, animations, sound (!) and gameplay. Easily one of the sleeper hits of 2018.

It's scary as a new player but becomes less so the more you play. Watching this brought me back to February when it first came out and everyone was new.
Sorry, but I need to correct you on some things as a Hunt player: - You can solo this game and still win. Its harder because you are alone, but still possible. - Even though you spawn as duos or solo, you can team up with another team. BUT some might be hostile so proceed with caution - Its always 10 players. Be it 5 duos OR 10 solos OR any combo of those. Also some friendly tips: - You can extra anytime even if you don't have all the bounties or any. - Use a melee weapon to kill the monsters where possible since it makes less noise and you have ammo to kill the target or players. - Butcher goes down fast with explosives. - The spider is easier to fight when you just stand still. He always comes running back and he pauses and screeches before attacking. And to everyone thinking of join Hunt I wish you all good luck and happy hunting
@@ebeleingram8048 Not at all. I have played a few early access games and I gotta say it's actually one of the most pleasant experiences I've had and here is why I say so: - The devs are super active. They even do developer live-steams on their TH-cam channel. - Their website even has a roadmap of what they are working on. - They take ideas from the community via their forums and discord. TL;DR: Best experience I've had in an early access game. Cons: - As TheLazyPeon said in the video its lacking content currently (However i should also add that there is a lot of content to come. Check out their roadmap to see what I mean www.huntshowdown.com/roadmap) - The game is punishing, but yet again the devs released a patch recently that makes it less punishing to new players. - The controls are not like any other FPS I know of, but surprisingly it gives you more control - The water devils (those eel things that attacked in the water at 10:33) are so evil you will cry yourself to sleep. Overall in the 97 hours I sank into the game was really enjoyable. This really is a fun game and the controls are different from anything I have felt. It's so immersive that the fear is real sometimes (TheLazyPeon's reactions remind me of my own the first few games). What I really like is the amount of communication the devs have with community. This is why there are so few cons I feel. Objectively speaking, it is definitely worth checking out at least, but I also recommend learning from TheLazyPeon's mistake and check out the tutorial video. Hope this answers your question :)
It's great. Be aware that it is primarily a PVP game though when you first start you will be placed in the newbie queue for you first hand full of levels and my not actually see any other players.
This is possibly one of the best games I have ever played in my 20 years of gaming. It's a fantastic balance between reward and punishment, and games can either be an incredibly invigorating triumph, or make you feel like a total sack of shit because a whiffed shot. I've never caught onto any of the BR-style games as hard as this (and I agree, it's certainly its own genre), and honestly get so excited when me and my duo buddy can get online. I would definitely recommend people invest into it. It's certainly not a casual game though, even if recent changes have intro'ed a few casual elements. PS fucking great video. Thanks for making me relive those first few games where everything was creepy as fuck.
a few tips for anyone wanting to get into the game: beyond trainee levels you really don't wanna just fire off your guns at every zombie, the shots ring out across the map and other players will leg it straight over to catch you off guard, normally you wanna use a knife or melee weapon which is much more effective and quiet at killing annoying zombies. the starter rifle Lazy was using (Winfield) comes with a lot more bullets than higher level rifles, combined with the low level pistols which use the same bullets so it grants even more. For example a low level rifle and pistol combined can let you hold up to around 40+ "compact" bullets, whereas the combination of a high level rifle and pistol combined would give you 19 "long bullets". you wanna crouch past injured horses and dog kennels since they are there purely to reveal your location to other players, shooting them (with unsilenced weapons) makes it counter-productive since other players will just hear the gunshot instead. when you grab the bounty off the boss's corpse, the next 10 seconds of your darksight lets you see orange mist in the general direction of nearby players within 150 meters (works through walls) if you get taken down, you permanently lose 1 bar of health but can get it back by banishing a boss or buying them after the game with perk points if you make it out alive. -Also if a player is downed you can toss a fire bomb, lantern or any flammable throwable onto the body to slowly and permanently burn their remaining health away, this puts massive pressure on the remaining teammate as they need to act fast if they want to save them. Noise is the biggest part of the game in PvP, if you walk through hanging cans, chains, over glass, in mud, through water it makes distinctive noise that experienced players will identify. Naturally you want to crouch your way towards other players if you're trying to get the jump on them. Also the Butcher is completely immune to fire and the spider is immune to poison respectively. the electric lamp you can buy/equip is the worst location giveaway for pvp. It's universally avoided by players in the game. jumping in waist-deep water will stop burning just as using a medkit found at resupply stations or compounds will heal and immediately stop bleeding. the Hive's head to one-shot her is the one hanging off the side, not the giant hive sticking out the top of her body. Just as all npcs have hitboxes that will take more damage just like players do.
If I join this game now i.e. late to the party, am I going to get my ass kicked to the point of not enjoying the game? - I game regularly but not obsessively. I don't want a game that demands you sink hundreds and hundreds of hours into it in order to stay remotely competitive.
@@kpjlflsknflksnflknsa Well when it comes down to it, the main gameplay is a FPS like any other, battlefield, cod etc. So when you start out you do get put in lower ranking of other new players under rank 15. and until you pass rank 15 you don't lose your character OR any of their equipment when you die. But really it depends on who you're against. Sometimes you get killed before you even spot the guy who shot at you and vice versa, sometimes you can outshoot two people in a 2v1. But generally if you avoid making unnecessary noise you can end up getting the jump on other players which gives you way better odds of winning.
There are lots of people outside your bubble who genuinely enjoy FO76 though, me included. It's not a 0/10 game, far from it. I'd say it's like 6/10 but people just want to label it as a trash pile because it's so easy to shit on games instead of giving them a real chance.

MTX in games are fundamentally a problem for the customer, since they are there to cut back on features we've grown accustomed to in the previous generations of the games, but now they try to sell them back to us via MTX. I don't buy MTX for games I don't want to support, there's no singleplayer game I'd ever buy MTX for, neither will I ever buy "atoms" for FO76 since they're easily accessible via in game achievements. You guys who blindly hate and join these bandwagons are a major problem, there can't be any innovation or anything resembling a change in the industry because you're personally not ready for it yet. The game developers can't win right now, they either fuck up with some political agenda like BF:V(which is actually a good game, who would've known) or FO76 trying this multiplayer FO thing everyone's been asking for since 2008. Instead of trying to be cynical in every single aspect, next time try to think of every game as "this is a good game", games are much better when you don't enter into them with the notion of them sucking ass. Games are not getting worse like you try to point out, most people who say games are getting worse have the most rose tinted glasses ever and don't even bother trying to like new stuff since it's much easier to just hate on stuff instead of try liking. It's much easier to hate since you don't even have to try and there are lots of "angry" teens who join the bandwagons now. That being said, FO76 is still not a perfect game, but there's something for a certain group of people. I know majority are not a fan of FO76, but majority never even really got into the lore of the world and just pushed it aside and went with the easy route of bashing it. I'll give you that the Xbox and PS4 versions are literally unplayable with the horseshit optimization and frame drops when shooting guns. The game is not nearly as buggy as many think, I counter an annoying bug maybe once every 10 hours of gameplay(which is more than most who "review" the game actually put into it). The gunplay isn't as bad as people say, the hit registration can be a bit wonky when enemies are right in your face but doesn't really matter. Not gonna make a full review for someone who doesn't even care or care to bother trying to understand other people. If I'm the frog who slowly boils waiting for the slow doom of gaming industry via MTX, you're the sheep who ruin the internet with mob mentality and blind following of people who hate on stuff like they were a leader of a cult. So glad you reviewed this game, man! I highly encourage you keep playing, especially if you can find an experienced partner to show you the ropes. The more you play the more you honestly learn so much about the mechanics you didn't even realize at first. I promise when you learn to incorporate more melee and stealth/coordination with your partner, a better understanding of the environment around you, and entering a server packed with other hunters, the game really goes to a whole new level.
You got really lucky with your games xD It get´s way more PvP-isher lately. Thats why you dont use Guns that much, and if, just silencer. But its cool to see you playing Hunt:Showdown
My guess is it's because what he said at the beginning of the video and that the first few missions they send you on are with other new players. Once you get out of those new player games is when the PvP ramps up I would think.

I play this game daily with my best mate. Seeing a popular youtuber playing it makes me happy, as it means new players will come. This game really is a raw gem. Can't wait for the developers to properly release it. Actually around 200hours on it, around 3rd prestige so far
After 500 hours of having fun playing this game i can say, it still is one if not THE best br game rightnow out there. It is an hardcore-like game and really frustrating. But if you keep pulling trough you have one of the best games, trust me.(don't play alone or with randoms, pick a friend)

Thank You for bringing more attention to Hunt Showdown. It's a really great game it's just been passed up by the mainstream because of the early problems with the game which have now mostly been fixed. The only problem is the low player count but I'm sure you just upped it by a considerable amount.
@@TheLazyPeon The fuck would monster variety change. How does that influence your though process? Once you figure out how to kill those monsters (which should take like a few encounters/minutes), then it is easy to play around them. I dont see how more monsters and bosses will generate longevity. It is just nice to have/nice to look at when there are more things to look at, but not really a lot of meat that would make me stick around for longer. The human interactions in the PvP encounters is what makes me want to keep playing. Having interesting fights is what makes this game once you got over the first impression and figure out how everything works. But once you get there, you realize that the game mechanics have flaws. The instant headshot is just frustrating and becomes almost boring. I rather have longer, drawn out fights than outright getting headshotted and headshooting every single time. But with the current game mechanics and damage values, that is just not possible. I would rather see them make significant changes to the core gameplay than to see more monster variety.
They did a devstream recently where they explained that their servers are very new and very beta. At the moment they're not strong enough to run multiple bosses, hundreds of AI and more than 10 players. So right now it's limited to 5, 2 man teams. Me and my mate that plays hunt with me and been playing since early alpha and we've been really wanting 4 players for ages but it still looks like a while away. It's also extremely efficient to take a knife to every game. If you hold the knife and then hold attack, it'll do a charge knife stab which on a headshot on the normal zombies will one shot kill. You can also bring sabres, axes, hammers and a sword which do a different amount of damage on the charged attack. Some of them can one or two shot the hives or larger beasts. Also, fire is extremely strong on the spider so find a lantern and throw it at the spider. Also, pushing and holding 'E' will bring up dark sight. Using this you can see the clues as little glowing blue things in the distance. Once you get closer they'll be really bright and easy to see but there's almost always something guarding the clue. Clues are also team based. Each team, or in solo, each person must collect 3 clues to find the monster. It's not shared. Also, you can, if you're lucky, just find the monsters randomly when entering a place of interest. You don't REQUIRE all 3 clues to get to the boss.
*Buy the game* ! Awesome developers! They are good ppl! The game is new, fresh, something different! The atmosphere is lifelike and scary, the sound cues are really important and impactful. Weapons are 100 years old and great! The feel and the sound of the weapons are just....WOW! The reloading sounds, the handling, the design and the animations are top notch. The performance is a lot better than in Alpha when I played first. So the devs can and are optimizing the game! :D It feels really good playing with a friend! The progression is satisfying. I love the fact that you can take your time and play as fast or as slow as you want. A very good spatial awareness, good spotting skills and positioning will be highly rewarded in this game! Edit: Also the game can be pretty competitive since you also play against another 8 hunters that try to play the objective. Meaning everyone tries to get the bounty and escape the map.
The game is in early access, there will be plenty of newcomers to the game before it leaves early access. Also never too late to play an older game, I just started playing GW1 for the first time yesterday.

I did not know the monsters were gonna be this scary. I bought the game today and as soon as I got into a building I started hearing loud groaning, I was met by a huge fucking zombie as soon as I got out the door. I've played some more and having a partner who isn't a total dumbass is very helpful. I've made a friend with whom I played 2 games and killed 3 bosses. The game is not so popular right now, but I hope once it's out of Early Access they'll advertise it decently and get this game the attention it deserves. Cryengine is as always spectacular.

LOL totally unprepared for this kinda game looks like. I loved the reactions though and finally I'm pretty excited to play this. I watched several other gameplay videos over the last few months but this play through really made it look fun!
Something Im having trouble getting through is the huge loading times to get back into the game, i die so much and spend way more time waiting to get back in. It should have an Offline PVE mode for learning the game and getting used to the controls which are very choppy, need to mess with sensitivity lots and everytime it;s between matches only.
I love this game. After like 15 hours or so, I've still strongly attracted to the high-risk high-reward aspect of the game and the pull to level up and get more skillful at the game. It's great.
as a veteran this is really enjoyable to watch, (not sarcastic) and i would love if you played some moreand you can see clues from far away by holding E, but if you hold e while having the bounty you can also see players through terrain over a radius of around 150 m

I think that if you add more players it removes a lot of the spookiness and the places would get really cramped. What I mean is when you would be in the barn banishing/fighting the boss and another team would appear to contest. Otherwise, I'm glad you like it I had my eye on this game for a while. The one thing that concerns me tho is exactly as you said lack of variety in terms of monsters and zones I hope they soon add new ones otherwise the gameplay might get rather repetitive but who knows games like MOBAs are repetitive in a way but can stay fun. (Meaby they could add a tool to make custom maps? But I highly doubt they will do that.)
Honestly this idea would go well with the idea of an alien bounty hunter in a syfy city hunting down alien criminals, finding clues through pictures and descriptions to hunt them down.
Super fun game. Has a steep learning curve that can be mastered after practicing. They added a free Hunter in every refreshed list of hunters, a new map, and the ability to pick up fallen players weapons. I'm sure there are others but being a vet at the game just those additions made the game about 10x better. Not every game has lvl100 people hiding, now they are using the free hunters and will go in loud which still works if you figure out the combat system across the board.

well if crytek would start listening to their swiftly shrinking playerbase and maybe start fixing some of the glaring technical issues or the incredibly broken matchmaking system then maybe it would succeed, but from what i've read in steam reviews its getting worse not better and is actually worse than it was over a year ago and crytek doesnt seem to care and the only recent effort they put into the game was pretty christmas outfits over the holidays, because you know, thats more important than players actually being able to play the game and enjoy doing so

@@andrewj6497 Quick Play isn't really Battleroyal. Of course it is Battleroyal-ish but There are no 100 Players. There are 10. It still has AI, There is no shrinking zone but The palyer wants to find the last clue to get The Bounty. Other players want this too so they will hunt him down to get a bit of that cash. Last Man Standing will get the Hunter and Weapons for free. It has a lot of more to it. There is no Item and Equipment looting and Loot doesn't decide how good ur round will be like in BR-Games. And I'd like to add that a round of Battleroyal is in all cases a throw away thing, meaning, If you win a round of BR there is nothing you really get. Here, you have the chance of pushing your in-game economy.
Well, the game IS a very original take on the battle royale genre. Sure, killing other players is purely optional, but the overall setup is pretty much a objective-based battle royale horror shooter. I mean, it's like a BR game for people with actual taste in games. It's not shameful to do battle royale if you do it well.
I'm glad this game is getting out to more people. If I had to pick a game right now that was the most underrated and underplayed it would definitely be hunt showdown. Almost nobody is talking about it and yet it's one of the best co-op/pvp games out right now.

Hey man, really like seeing you playing this game. In case you want to play more of it I want to give you tip..... Sound is very important in this game. If you shoot a gun, scare crows, or triger any other soundtrap in the game, every other player on the map will hear that. Intensity of the sound effect depends on the distance they are away from your position and they will be able to tell the direction from which the sound is coming from. So if you shoot a gun you are giving away your position to other players. Use knife to kill lesser enemies (zombies, hives, etc.). The most important skill in the game is to move fast without making any sound.
Another tip ( not always possible tho) avoid recruiting hunters with bright colors ( the infamous white and red shirts)

For real, you can knife the common zombies in like 2 hits and throw lanterns to kill hives and shit and Peon is complaining about ammo being scarce as he uses like 7 bullets to kill a common zombie lol, to be fair I get spooked easily and in the brief time I played this game I played super slowly because I was scared lol (just refunded the game because I was only getting like 25 fps because I need to upgrade my gpu, and the controls were pretty annoyingly janky)

Wow, I think this is like the second or third time I am genuinely interested in an early access game enough to buy it immediately after watching one video.
This game looks awesome, even though the fact that it is spooky at times is a bit worrying for someone like me, I think it works well enough with this game that I won't really mind the scary parts.

After playing 15 years of shooters this game still gets my adrenaline going. The difference between the slow parts and the fire fights with other people and the fact that you can lose your equipment any time to a guy hiding in a barn is really exciting.

The last time my heart was racing as fast and hard in a video game was back in 2012 when DayZ (the mod) came out and the first PVP encounters were pure unfiltered "ohnofuckoffIjustfoundthisgunpleasedon'tkillmeaaaaaah!" moments.
This game, even after 75+ hours still managed to get me on the edge of my seat when a bullet hits the wall right next to me. Superb art design, animations, sound (!) and gameplay. Easily one of the sleeper hits of 2018.
"wood can be penetrated" Yeah, let's tell him just that, so that we can make him shit bricks when we snipe him through a 20cm brick wall with our LRR or Mosin. :)
It's scary as a new player but becomes less so the more you play. Watching this brought me back to February when it first came out and everyone was new.
Sorry, but I need to correct you on some things as a Hunt player:
- You can solo this game and still win. Its harder because you are alone, but still possible.
- Even though you spawn as duos or solo, you can team up with another team. BUT some might be hostile so proceed with caution
- Its always 10 players. Be it 5 duos OR 10 solos OR any combo of those.
Also some friendly tips:
- You can extra anytime even if you don't have all the bounties or any.
- Use a melee weapon to kill the monsters where possible since it makes less noise and you have ammo to kill the target or players.
- Butcher goes down fast with explosives.
- The spider is easier to fight when you just stand still. He always comes running back and he pauses and screeches before attacking.

I have played a few early access games and I gotta say it's actually one of the most pleasant experiences I've had and here is why I say so:
- The devs are super active. They even do developer live-steams on their TH-cam channel.
- Their website even has a roadmap of what they are working on.
- They take ideas from the community via their forums and discord.
TL;DR: Best experience I've had in an early access game.
Cons:
- As TheLazyPeon said in the video its lacking content currently (However i should also add that there is a lot of content to come. Check out their roadmap to see what I mean www.huntshowdown.com/roadmap)
- The game is punishing, but yet again the devs released a patch recently that makes it less punishing to new players.
- The controls are not like any other FPS I know of, but surprisingly it gives you more control
- The water devils (those eel things that attacked in the water at 10:33) are so evil you will cry yourself to sleep.
Overall in the 97 hours I sank into the game was really enjoyable. This really is a fun game and the controls are different from anything I have felt. It's so immersive that the fear is real sometimes (TheLazyPeon's reactions remind me of my own the first few games). What I really like is the amount of communication the devs have with community. This is why there are so few cons I feel.
Objectively speaking, it is definitely worth checking out at least, but I also recommend learning from TheLazyPeon's mistake and check out the tutorial video.

It's great. Be aware that it is primarily a PVP game though when you first start you will be placed in the newbie queue for you first hand full of levels and my not actually see any other players.
This is possibly one of the best games I have ever played in my 20 years of gaming. It's a fantastic balance between reward and punishment, and games can either be an incredibly invigorating triumph, or make you feel like a total sack of shit because a whiffed shot. I've never caught onto any of the BR-style games as hard as this (and I agree, it's certainly its own genre), and honestly get so excited when me and my duo buddy can get online. I would definitely recommend people invest into it. It's certainly not a casual game though, even if recent changes have intro'ed a few casual elements.

a few tips for anyone wanting to get into the game:
beyond trainee levels you really don't wanna just fire off your guns at every zombie, the shots ring out across the map and other players will leg it straight over to catch you off guard, normally you wanna use a knife or melee weapon which is much more effective and quiet at killing annoying zombies.
the starter rifle Lazy was using (Winfield) comes with a lot more bullets than higher level rifles, combined with the low level pistols which use the same bullets so it grants even more. For example a low level rifle and pistol combined can let you hold up to around 40+ "compact" bullets, whereas the combination of a high level rifle and pistol combined would give you 19 "long bullets".
you wanna crouch past injured horses and dog kennels since they are there purely to reveal your location to other players, shooting them (with unsilenced weapons) makes it counter-productive since other players will just hear the gunshot instead.
when you grab the bounty off the boss's corpse, the next 10 seconds of your darksight lets you see orange mist in the general direction of nearby players within 150 meters (works through walls)
if you get taken down, you permanently lose 1 bar of health but can get it back by banishing a boss or buying them after the game with perk points if you make it out alive.
-Also if a player is downed you can toss a fire bomb, lantern or any flammable throwable onto the body to slowly and permanently burn their remaining health away, this puts massive pressure on the remaining teammate as they need to act fast if they want to save them.
Noise is the biggest part of the game in PvP, if you walk through hanging cans, chains, over glass, in mud, through water it makes distinctive noise that experienced players will identify. Naturally you want to crouch your way towards other players if you're trying to get the jump on them.
Also the Butcher is completely immune to fire and the spider is immune to poison respectively.
the electric lamp you can buy/equip is the worst location giveaway for pvp. It's universally avoided by players in the game.
jumping in waist-deep water will stop burning just as using a medkit found at resupply stations or compounds will heal and immediately stop bleeding.
the Hive's head to one-shot her is the one hanging off the side, not the giant hive sticking out the top of her body. Just as all npcs have hitboxes that will take more damage just like players do.
If I join this game now i.e. late to the party, am I going to get my ass kicked to the point of not enjoying the game?
- I game regularly but not obsessively. I don't want a game that demands you sink hundreds and hundreds of hours into it in order to stay remotely competitive.
@@kpjlflsknflksnflknsa Well when it comes down to it, the main gameplay is a FPS like any other, battlefield, cod etc. So when you start out you do get put in lower ranking of other new players under rank 15. and until you pass rank 15 you don't lose your character OR any of their equipment when you die.
But really it depends on who you're against. Sometimes you get killed before you even spot the guy who shot at you and vice versa, sometimes you can outshoot two people in a 2v1. But generally if you avoid making unnecessary noise you can end up getting the jump on other players which gives you way better odds of winning.

There are lots of people outside your bubble who genuinely enjoy FO76 though, me included. It's not a 0/10 game, far from it. I'd say it's like 6/10 but people just want to label it as a trash pile because it's so easy to shit on games instead of giving them a real chance.

You're wrong, FO76 is not a great game but that doesn't mean it's absolute garbage like many make it out to be. MTX in games are fundamentally a problem for the customer, since they are there to cut back on features we've grown accustomed to in the previous generations of the games, but now they try to sell them back to us via MTX. I don't buy MTX for games I don't want to support, there's no singleplayer game I'd ever buy MTX for, neither will I ever buy "atoms" for FO76 since they're easily accessible via in game achievements. You guys who blindly hate and join these bandwagons are a major problem, there can't be any innovation or anything resembling a change in the industry because you're personally not ready for it yet. The game developers can't win right now, they either fuck up with some political agenda like BF:V(which is actually a good game, who would've known) or FO76 trying this multiplayer FO thing everyone's been asking for since 2008. Instead of trying to be cynical in every single aspect, next time try to think of every game as "this is a good game", games are much better when you don't enter into them with the notion of them sucking ass. Games are not getting worse like you try to point out, most people who say games are getting worse have the most rose tinted glasses ever and don't even bother trying to like new stuff since it's much easier to just hate on stuff instead of try liking. It's much easier to hate since you don't even have to try and there are lots of "angry" teens who join the bandwagons now.
That being said, FO76 is still not a perfect game, but there's something for a certain group of people. I know majority are not a fan of FO76, but majority never even really got into the lore of the world and just pushed it aside and went with the easy route of bashing it. I'll give you that the Xbox and PS4 versions are literally unplayable with the horseshit optimization and frame drops when shooting guns. The game is not nearly as buggy as many think, I counter an annoying bug maybe once every 10 hours of gameplay(which is more than most who "review" the game actually put into it). The gunplay isn't as bad as people say, the hit registration can be a bit wonky when enemies are right in your face but doesn't really matter. Not gonna make a full review for someone who doesn't even care or care to bother trying to understand other people.
If I'm the frog who slowly boils waiting for the slow doom of gaming industry via MTX, you're the sheep who ruin the internet with mob mentality and blind following of people who hate on stuff like they were a leader of a cult. That seems fair, doesn't it?

So glad you reviewed this game, man! I highly encourage you keep playing, especially if you can find an experienced partner to show you the ropes. The more you play the more you honestly learn so much about the mechanics you didn't even realize at first. I promise when you learn to incorporate more melee and stealth/coordination with your partner, a better understanding of the environment around you, and entering a server packed with other hunters, the game really goes to a whole new level.

@@TheLazyPeon The fuck would monster variety change. How does that influence your though process? Once you figure out how to kill those monsters (which should take like a few encounters/minutes), then it is easy to play around them. I dont see how more monsters and bosses will generate longevity. It is just nice to have/nice to look at when there are more things to look at, but not really a lot of meat that would make me stick around for longer. The human interactions in the PvP encounters is what makes me want to keep playing. Having interesting fights is what makes this game once you got over the first impression and figure out how everything works. But once you get there, you realize that the game mechanics have flaws. The instant headshot is just frustrating and becomes almost boring. I rather have longer, drawn out fights than outright getting headshotted and headshooting every single time. But with the current game mechanics and damage values, that is just not possible. I would rather see them make significant changes to the core gameplay than to see more monster variety.
They test server does have a new map with a new monster in it.
They did a devstream recently where they explained that their servers are very new and very beta. At the moment they're not strong enough to run multiple bosses, hundreds of AI and more than 10 players. So right now it's limited to 5, 2 man teams. Me and my mate that plays hunt with me and been playing since early alpha and we've been really wanting 4 players for ages but it still looks like a while away.
It's also extremely efficient to take a knife to every game. If you hold the knife and then hold attack, it'll do a charge knife stab which on a headshot on the normal zombies will one shot kill. You can also bring sabres, axes, hammers and a sword which do a different amount of damage on the charged attack. Some of them can one or two shot the hives or larger beasts.
Also, fire is extremely strong on the spider so find a lantern and throw it at the spider. Also, pushing and holding 'E' will bring up dark sight. Using this you can see the clues as little glowing blue things in the distance. Once you get closer they'll be really bright and easy to see but there's almost always something guarding the clue. Clues are also team based. Each team, or in solo, each person must collect 3 clues to find the monster. It's not shared.
Also, you can, if you're lucky, just find the monsters randomly when entering a place of interest. You don't REQUIRE all 3 clues to get to the boss.
Couldn't stop laughing when you started freaking out because you thought you were being attacked but really just walked into your own trap XD

The game is new, fresh, something different! The atmosphere is lifelike and scary, the sound cues are really important and impactful.
Weapons are 100 years old and great! The feel and the sound of the weapons are just....WOW! The reloading sounds, the handling, the design and the animations are top notch.
The performance is a lot better than in Alpha when I played first. So the devs can and are optimizing the game! :D
It feels really good playing with a friend! The progression is satisfying.
I love the fact that you can take your time and play as fast or as slow as you want.
A very good spatial awareness, good spotting skills and positioning will be highly rewarded in this game!
Edit: Also the game can be pretty competitive since you also play against another 8 hunters that try to play the objective. Meaning everyone tries to get the bounty and escape the map.

I did not know the monsters were gonna be this scary. I bought the game today and as soon as I got into a building I started hearing loud groaning, I was met by a huge fucking zombie as soon as I got out the door.
I've played some more and having a partner who isn't a total dumbass is very helpful. I've made a friend with whom I played 2 games and killed 3 bosses. The game is not so popular right now, but I hope once it's out of Early Access they'll advertise it decently and get this game the attention it deserves.

I'm impressed by how realistic the shooting is. I mean I can't remember the last time I saw a game with proper smoke coming out of the gun and stuff like that.
Yea your reactions this first time are great lmao, this games fun but man is it like spoopy with all the sounds. Overall good review for a first impressions, I love the game myself to bad as you said you cant play with more friends because I have a ton of friends who have it.... but you cant play as 4 so we just don't play at all despite all of us enjoying it. Just cant wait for new content, they have a road map of things they're gonna do so I cant wait.

This game needs more exposure. Too few people are playing it while it's so good. They really need to do some ads, sponsor some big streamers to play it etc. It's a shame if the playerbase doesn't grow because it's such an experience to play

LOL totally unprepared for this kinda game looks like. I loved the reactions though and finally I'm pretty excited to play this. I watched several other gameplay videos over the last few months but this play through really made it look fun!
Something Im having trouble getting through is the huge loading times to get back into the game, i die so much and spend way more time waiting to get back in. It should have an Offline PVE mode for learning the game and getting used to the controls which are very choppy, need to mess with sensitivity lots and everytime it;s between matches only.
I love this game. After like 15 hours or so, I've still strongly attracted to the high-risk high-reward aspect of the game and the pull to level up and get more skillful at the game. It's great.
as a veteran this is really enjoyable to watch, (not sarcastic) and i would love if you played some moreand you can see clues from far away by holding E, but if you hold e while having the bounty you can also see players through terrain over a radius of around 150 m

the main menu music is my favorite part of the game. i haven't had a game amp me up before a match before like this game does.
After 600 hours in this game i just love to see craig finding this game spooky ... made my day. This game has a great future
I think that if you add more players it removes a lot of the spookiness and the places would get really cramped. What I mean is when you would be in the barn banishing/fighting the boss and another team would appear to contest. Otherwise, I'm glad you like it I had my eye on this game for a while. The one thing that concerns me tho is exactly as you said lack of variety in terms of monsters and zones I hope they soon add new ones otherwise the gameplay might get rather repetitive but who knows games like MOBAs are repetitive in a way but can stay fun. (Meaby they could add a tool to make custom maps? But I highly doubt they will do that.)

Honestly this idea would go well with the idea of an alien bounty hunter in a syfy city hunting down alien criminals, finding clues through pictures and descriptions to hunt them down.
Super fun game. Has a steep learning curve that can be mastered after practicing. They added a free Hunter in every refreshed list of hunters, a new map, and the ability to pick up fallen players weapons. I'm sure there are others but being a vet at the game just those additions made the game about 10x better. Not every game has lvl100 people hiding, now they are using the free hunters and will go in loud which still works if you figure out the combat system across the board.
