Could you do a comparison with the Watermelon Hex and the Lizottl Hex? I would like to see if they have different flight characteristics. And as always, i loved the video
I played in a circut challenge 8/12 and instantly bagged the Tempo and Servo - the proton plastic feels softer/gummier than normal proton plastic especially after sitting in the sun for 5 mins - I don't have any Proton Soft discs to compare it to but its what I thought of - I have a Plasma and Neutron Servo and love the disc in general but feel better throwing this because of the plastic feel - hope this is a stock run plastic option in the future
Always enjoy these vids. Great now that you got me hooked lined and sinkered on the zone. I'd def pick up a custom stamped Tempo though, haven't had an axiom/MVP disc that has disappointed yet.
The killed it with the tempo. I have shorter, thick hands and this is the best feeling approach disc I’ve held. I love the added glide but reliable overstability still - I kicked the entropy out (didn’t like it for forehands due to being much deeper) and haven’t looked back.
As you point out, one disc always being "player 1" means you may be seeing an order effect and not just a disc difference. A better methodology would be to alternate. Either like do even holes with the incumbent disc first /odds with challenger; or do like a "card" order where the better scorer on the last hole goes first on the next one, giving the second throw a chance to learn from the first.
I used to bag the entropy and played with the tempo during a circuit challenge. I think they are a great pair to bag together. Tempo is definitely glidey and less stable. Entropy (at least neutron) is quite overstable but still useable.
same I find myself FH the Tempo and BH the Entropy - never liked FH with the Entropy caught my fingers on the rim occasionally and used a Eclipse Resistor for FH shots - Tempo fills that spot much more effectively
Glad to meet you at Jr. Nationals. I want one so bad. Now if they make a Soft Proton, it may replace my Zone. Hole 3 it tough with no skip, so dont worry about it.
Immediately after my circuit challenge event, my Tempo went right into my bag. It's my go-to disc, mainly as forehand approach. Liking the control I have with the narrow rim & flat top.
I'm playing a circuit challenge on september 2nd. Excited because the course is 9 holes we play through twice and every hole is good for an ace run except maybe one that's 281 with the basket directly behind a thick pine tree.
Prodigy A2 went straight into the bag after my first round with it and I don’t see it coming out. It’s the only overstable approach disc that I’m comfortable with forehand and backhand, and it’s also just so dang reliable
Great disc review along with your realization of half coil in your personal form mechanics. I feel like the very next hole (and a few other holes) could have also benifited or resulted in a better tee box 1st drive. Specifically the t pad that you were concerned being super slick and it was elevated just after your realization a half coil technique where you felt like you were a little to nose up like one or two holes after you realize that half coil was benefiting you in which in my opinion would have felt like upshot speed techniques from the box but I'm not sure. Just a thought process I was having after seeing the result of you coiling less and was wondering your opinion of that? I do think you've convinced me on the tempo. As I've had a Zone in my hand many of times and not like the feel of it in my hand while knowing I need something in that slot as well and I feel like you're helping me narrow that down in this video. With that being said I do believe I'm going to set out on picking up some tempos. Keep up the great work and thanks as always.
All the good zone plastics seem to be reserved for special runs (ledgestone especially) which is my least favorite thing about Discraft. Z Flx are my favorite stock zones.
Theres a reason the tempos are so expensive on ebay ... its because its a zone thats grippier and better with gyro. Discraft plastic tends to be incridbly slippery and not tacky. Especially in cold or wet discraft is impossible to grip, while nuetron is very tacky and grippy easy to snap.
I played in an MVP circuit challenge and the Tempo has been in my bag since. It hasn't really "kicked out" my zones because I feel like I use them both for different shots. Tempo for me is better for longer pushing shots, backhand shots or anhyzers that I want to hold for very gradual fight out, whereas my zones I tend to favor for forehands and hyzer chip shots. Typical zones are definitely a touch more stable than the Tempo. Also got my hands on a watermelon hex, the thing is money
I prefer the Toro over the Zone because of the inner rim shape but I'll have to try out the Tempo when they drop. But you definitely have a case of copium because that Tempo should replace your Zone instantly with how much better you were throwing it.
@@Dafunkyjunky870 I’ve had a KC Pro Toro in my cart on the Innova Pro shop for like a month I just haven’t ordered it yet but I really want to get one to get it nice and beaten in.
You may just wanna drive with the Tempo and approach the Zone 🤷♂️ Maybe a slightly heavier weight on the Tempo you could get some more feet out of it too before it fades out. Also thanks for pointing out the half coil! I’m really gonna give that a shot for my short wooded holes where I have to hit really tight line 🤙
I definitely agree that the putter blend zones are shallower than premium zones. So now I have to see if these neutron tempos are going to not deform like my jawbreaker zones do. It would be nice to have a straight zone that’s not base line plastic
The tempo kicked my CN Entropy out instantly, and flys more like a mid rather than falling out of the sky as fast as possible. It skips better, which I want in contrast to my pig, but It come close to my pyro for distance on anny flex shots. 🤔 Between the entropy/tempo and deflector/pyro, MVP definitely has a range of OS options
what are your thoughts of the Runway? I liked it but it did not seem to be any different than the Pyro IMO - I happend to use it the most solely because of it being baseline plastic and it was a wet morning
@@WargamingWanderlust I used it mostly as a putter during the event, and when I wanted to have more of a flex shot. I agree it flies similar to a pyro, and more so than the deflector. It is a good non gyro option for a OS mid, but I wouldn't get it in a base plastic unless you were after some type of cycling mold concept. I rather just bag / cycle a slightly OS mid like a reactor or Roc3
Based on PDGA Zone's rim is actually thinner than Tempo's so Tempo's rim is deeper. Bigger difference comes from disc height. Tempo is thinner than Zone due to its flatness. Maybe those individual discs are different or manufacturer's have changed their molds, but that is how PDGA has approved those molds. I don't have a tempo so I can't measure those, but measuring is easy. Thinner has less air resistance so typically those feel and are faster. Of course rim shape has a big impact. And I have taught for over 10 years that shorter distance = less coiling/reach back for accuracy and control. Works for many.
Should try the A series from prodigy if you like the feel of the tempo. Probably A2 for your arm maybe A3. If you like the zone in the putter plastic maybe the 300 plastic might fit.
@@nicholas_mi mine was in plasma plastic. Specifically it was their MVP open 2022 commemorative disc. I'd throw it on roller angles and it would still land with a big skip at the end. Would get some pretty good s flights out of it that way
You meant the Savior that he actually mentioned not being a Zone replacement, but it might be closer to the Tempo than the Zone ofc. The Honor is a Thunderbird with tweaks^^
@@Iliyena87 yea I meant the Savior ofc. I understand that the video is about replacing his Zone with the Tempo but I think it would be more interesting to compare it with the Savior.
I have thrown MVP since the beginning of their disc golf journey and gyro doesn't fly any farther than my other discs. Same speed discs of theirs flies just the same as the same speeds by other companies if flight pattern is the same. MVP's discs are often very shallow (I don't mean rim height, but actual height of the disc) so they tend to fly faster, but due the being shallow they lack glide and that is a distance disadvantage. A bit like Innova's 3-series (TL vs TL3 etc.). 3's are less domey and they fly faster, but 3's having less glide tend to come down earlier. More glide usually means longer fade so 3's are usually straighter but flies the same distance. That is how I see Axiom's discs. Faster with less glide so no more distance but also less lift and I like that. I feel like I can aim those better with less glide and not so wide and glidey fade.
i’m one of those people who has a very drastic opinion on the zone. I genuinely hate it. Like it’s easily one of my least favorite discs i’ve ever thrown, and especially one that I hate the hand feel of
~9 months later only the Box and OTB drops ever aviable, don't like this time from releasing a new nice looking mold to stock at all... I don't want to use FR or special drops, will make it impossibe to get backsups easily.
To me the harp is not as OS as the zone and it is deeper. Not my favorite! If I am going to throw something like that then I would rather throw the skygod or the chally os
I like how you accidentally said pwetty. Maybe that should be a failed challenge consequence. You have to talk like Sylvester the Cat for a whole video. 😜😜
