    It would be nice to add a little seasonal field for the holidays. Like a graveyard or pumpkin patch for (Fall) Halloween. X-Mas trees. Easter field. Flower field for spring. And for summer you could have a community Swimming pool. But you will have to cut a tiny hole in the table so the pool can sit ground level. Then when you need to swap sections for another holiday, and make sure it is built stong enough just to sit over the hole for the pool.

    Love the design of this new city layout, but now on this scale, I think that the mountain might start to feel small, and out of place. This could be fixed by upscaling the trees and potentially tweaking parts of the mountain. It would also allow for the construction of a lookout tower or castle on the mountain, which would look cool, especially with the proximity to the rural area

    • @Firefrab
      @Firefrab ปีที่แล้ว +12

      on the other hand, you could also downscale them, to give a sense of them being much further away

    • @PrincessApolloOfTheNorth
      @PrincessApolloOfTheNorth ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It’s not very Lego:y but I think the mountain could possibly be continued by painting on the wall, would honestly not feel to out of place if it’s further away

    • @qloktheinvincible
      @qloktheinvincible ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Firefrab I agree with this approach; taking a few pages from model railroading hobby practices of selective compression could help a lot at making more detail fit into less space without feeling like everything is way too close together.

    Just some ideas for inspiration:
    - a forest with a camp or some cabins, maybe a birch forest to make some other kind of trees
    - a city park with different kind of tree (japanese cherry tree, birch tree, etc.)
    - a lowered section in front of the village with more natural seaside, like a beach in a cove, some reef or a old creaky wooden dock
    - an evolving module with different festivals all around the year: erntedankfest, summer music festival, weihnachtsmarkt, etc.

    • @B1gBoyPants
      @B1gBoyPants ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I was also thinking it would be nice to have a festival or carnival spot there! It would add a bit of life to the city and make a nice spot where he could fit in a bunch of small little fun builds, and it would make a great opportunity for story telling with the minifigs.

    Really enjoy these updates. This layout is looking really good. I did have a suggestion in the last video, but I was late and assumed it got lost in the plethora of comments. I would really love to see some abandoned railroad infrastructure like you do in real life. For example an old spur with vegetation growing up through the sleepers. Maybe even have the mainline updated with the points removed to permanently seal off the spur. And maybe the foundation and other remanence of the old goods platform adjacent to it.

    Your city is amazing! I love the historic part and seeing it be expanded is increadible. If you would allow me a suggestion, the old city is currently very flat. Old town folk did not have the terraforming tools we have today and theis homes tend to accompany the slopes of the terrain. I think it would enhance your design to put at least the church on a hill, so it sits on a privileged position as it was costume on old days. in that little middle space off that extra leg, if your layout includes any freight trains, you could create a small depot, business, or any industry that can spot a car or 2 that occasionally switches out just for that extra touch, and something simple. The U.S. term for those railroad crossing signs is "wig-wag". It goes back to when a railroad worker would wave a flag or lantern. They were replaced by mechanical signals that waved back and forth (like a dog's tail wagging). These became "X" signs that didn't move, but had lights that blinked on alternating sides. These days most level crossings have automated gates, so those signs don't get a lot of attention and the term "wig-wag" is probably a bit old-fashioned.

    For the train station platform, instead of putting one in the middle of the tracks, you should put one on the side that is closest to you, and make a bridge over the top of the tracks! But amazing so far!

    Add an old abandoned rusted car somewhere in near the road. Will add a bit of mystery. Also make some hills. Might add a bit of texture to the view

    You could put a small farm with a tractor and maybe a barn in the middle between the two tracks. Maybe growing some wheat in the summer. Then switch it out for pumpkins in the fall and then make it a Christmas tree farm in the winter. Just my thoughts.

    If you aren’t opposed to some minor electrical work, you could wire a reversing loop into your track.
    For model train operations they can be nice as it gives you a way to have the locomotive turn around. But it is only really useful if you want to run train operations on your layout.
    If you are just going to have trains running circuits around the track it is almost definitely worth avoiding the headache.
    Even in model train layouts where the entire point is train operations: DC reverse loops are annoying and require you bringing the train to a stop at least two times to reverse the polarity of the track.
    In my opinion if you did the reverse connection it would be cool but probably go unused most of the time. I think it might be better to use the landscape a different way.

    A very strange thing, but Disneyland does it and I think you might find it interesting for your city as well. Try setting up "candle warmers" (it's a hot plate basically) with a smart plug that uses motion or different times as schedule and using candles that have smells of certain environmants. There are candles that smell like forest, candles that smell like moisture, like ocean, etc... I think you can hide thees around and make each area of the city smell slightly differently might be a great way to immerse people into the environment.

    "sometimes placing a car on top of something that doesn't really look good in order to hide it" - Good advice.. not only for gaps in roads xD

    I have a suggestion, maybe you could build close to the railway crossing a watchman's house or some building :)

    The two railways next to each other would make a nice double station with a bridge above, like the one from the Harry Potter platform 9 and 3/4s set
