  • Opportunities when on foil are starting to open up more and more every time I go. Although windy and choppy conditions are much more challenging I am starting to look at it like mountain biking. Seeing obstacles in front of you and trying to figure out the best way to avoid or use them to work for you. I tried the rear foot stabilizer and was not really feeling it then switched to the neutral foot stabilizer and felt much better. I think I will give different tail stabilizers another go when I get the perfect foil day so I can really see differences in conditions. My biggest accomplishment was connecting I suppose 3 waves in one. The best part about this one compared to the last one is I was using my pumping cadence more than the wave power. I still have to really nail down which waves I should be taking in order to spend more time on foil instead of looking at it like surfing where you are looking for a stand out set wave.

Your style continues to improve! Nice automatic foot position adjust when you were getting up (5:55). Your brain knows where you should be now ;)

Interesting comment about possibly having an accident and giving up the sport. Pretty much why I barely mountain bike anymore. The risk/ reward ratio suddenly ruined it for me. I was starting to do some reasonably gnarly stuff and hurting myself a lot. I decided that I didn't want to spend all my time recovering from injury when I could be surfing or foiling. Having said that I cracked myself a good one in the shin with my foil and 2 months later I still have weird bumps and some numb areas in my shin.

The comment is meant more for everyone to understand that I am going to foil in less dangerous conditions until I can handle the dangerous conditions. Ironically you speak of mountain biking. Any other expensive hobby that I gave up because of going over the handle bars too many times. I also have some pretty decent trails in my area as well. I really enjoy foiling and don’t want to have a serious accident because it does happen. I really don’t want to find out a hospital visit deductible. So playing it safe as boring as that is might be a better call.

Exactly the same thing that happened to me. Missing out on 3+ months of foiling/kiting/surfing because I broke my ankle MTB in the PNW wasn’t worth it. Sold the bike a year later
