@@carlodagunz I know that much. What I meant was that people are saying Jergal should take back his old responsibilities after the events of BG3, but they often seem to neglect Kelemvor who currently rules over the dead. Perhaps some of the other domains are up in the air like Murder and Tyranny?
@@giorgim6168 you are correct, Kelemvor is referenced several times in game and seems to be doing a fine job as the God of Death, which may be Jergal's problem because that's *boring*
Cyric busting out of his prison would be a great expansion. I'm here for it. Especially if it's a fully "After Epilogue" expansion, where you can call back companions from your previous save file and see how they're doing in addition to a few new ones.
There also is another mention of Cyric in the game. SPOILER ALERT: The Strange Ox that you can encounter in all three acts in the main story has a very mysterious aura around him and he's very defensive about revealing any information about himself, but if you've managed to persuade or deceive him into giving you more information at Act 3, he'll ask you to bring him into the city itself and if you agree he happily states "Praise Cyric!" revealing himself as a follower of Cyric, not to mention when he reveals his memories to you, there are loads of dead bodies...so this could possibly play a part in the story if they decide to follow suit with it.
As soon as I saw the mention of a "Dark sun", Cyric was the first thing to come to my mind. I agree with everything you've said here. He has something to do with all the God's who were at play in BG3, he had a role to play in the original BG games, and he's Cyric, the Prince of Assholes. Why wouldn't he find some opportunity to mess things up for everyone and gain something for himself lol? He's Cyric and that is what Cyric has always done.
indeed tho idk why Cyric was in the vid to have all 3 portfolios of the dead 3 when kelemvor has the portfolio of the god of death ironically its like how Cyric killed Bhaal then Bhaal killed him to regain his portfolio only to yet again be killed by Cyric and the process resulted in Cyric also being a demigod by 15DR
@@fangslore9988 Cyric was the God of Death for 10 years after being raised to godhood before Kelemvore spirit was able to escape it's prison and start a rebellion amongst the dead souls and became the God of Death himself.
@@andrewcarter9649 yes but its history people ignore because they think Cyric is still the god of death at least Kelemvore hates necromancy unlike his predecessor Myrkul and Cyric is a demigod by 15DR which means if he is trying to make a return he may try to make a power play in the chaos of the dead 3's actions while everyone is blind to it
YESSSS thank you! I was just talking about this to my D&D group. Cyric has been suspiciously quiet for far too long, and his lore is so tied to all of these related pantheons. A comeback would be SO cool. I can't believe more people are not talking about the note! Excellent analysis, per usual!
@@Mewobiba Which is a terrible analogy as Elves have 2 entire pantheons (one of which actually includes Ghaunadaur), not a singular god. It's certainly possible for them to worship gods other than Ghaunadaur but given how alien gelatinous cubes are it's going to be the far more likely diety of choice.
Cyric has been far too quiet for far too long... that literal megalomaniac is cooking up something... plus Wither's is getting revenge on his old bad bosses, and none are as bad as Cyric.
If you play a Bard, at the end of the game Milil appears in your Epilogue party and he talks about Cyric banishing him to the fugue plane for insulting him.
The other meaning you could take would be a reference to the dark sun setting, which would be a bit of a stretch for a forgotten realms based title, but the plot did revolve around a spelljammer invasion.
That Masseffect 2 background theme also reminds me of the forgotten dark energy theory of the game, too. Gonna come back to this when i finished Baldurs gate.
Thanks for the video. It’s a pretty compelling narrative and one that I hope we get to see. However, when I first heard you talk about Dark Sun, I thought you might be talking about the Sorcerer-Kings of Athas. Now there’s a game that I want!
ngl. I straight up thought the clown/shapechanger in the carnival was Cyric because of the haircut matching 1 to 1 and that would be the perfect cameo for him. My entire campaign of the last 6 years has been based around Cyric and the Rising of the Dark Sun; imagine a drow crusade to retake the surface after being banished underground for generations where they're no longer sensitive to the sun...
too 'problematic', esp for the types of people they have objectively catered to in bg3's writing i'm bisexual but i honestly couldn't even finish it with some of it lmao.
That would be awesome! Especially if you have a halfling character, and they suddenly grow long curly hair when you pass from Forgotten Realms into Dark Sun 🎉
@@hochdieanarchie Spot on. I read its problematic because of "slavery" or some weak, limp-wristed belief. It is truly sad as the setting and lore of Dark Sun is just absolutely amazing.
Cyrik? Is sick. I never played dnd but after 500 hours of Bg3 I've look into some things. Basically he is the guy who killed baal and thats why baal had all his baalspawn. Shit is sick. Cyric gets imprisoned for 1000 years but basically just chills.
If the Gods Cyric has beef with are relevant to this protentional DLC, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out if you burned any and all bridges with Shar and Mystra in the main story.
That’s pretty awesome, I had no idea about Cyrik. Another thing in the game that just screams future DLC to me is SPOILER Raphael’s damned portal room.
Yep, had the same thought, so much potential unexplored, and the House of Hope is always accessible after defeating him. Some places refer to the story of some characters (Menzoberaznan for Minthara or Waterdeep for Gale), some others are refered to during the story... But surely there will be one of them that we'll be able to take at some point to further explore Faerun. Or at least a mod?
@@mushuable exactly! You never know, but with Larian winning GOTY for this game, they might have all sorts of plans now. Firstly I would hope for a little bit more polish on act three, though. The epilogue is obviously the biggest issue people had with act three and Larian as usual completely listening to fans and delivering on it. But act 3 itself is where I’m seeing the most glitches/issues by far. Things like certain NPCs you have been with the whole game acting like it is the first time you’ve met. (several of the tieflings have done this to me, especially the little shopkeeper from druid’s grove- forget the name at the moment) -Some of the tieflings hanging around outside as refugees *must* be unfinished. In my recent honor mode game as I walked over to them I literally heard a voice line talking saying “Zevlor? You’ve got nerve to show up here” or something (and I had rescued him in act 2) -The Sharran temple fight with that one lady (again I’m sorry I forgot her name, I’m at work lmao) that fight completely broke for me at the end. We had her stunned, and after killing all her sharran cronies, she never broke out of the stun, and her AI was broken. So I had to just kill her without getting the usual dialogue line with Shadowheart. -Arfur Gregorio paints you and your entire party portraits of yourselves if you so desire, but you cannot pick up easels with you to mount them on at your camp Certain items in ACT 3 are not working correctly, or showing ability scores/damage numbers correctly as they supposedly alter them in their descriptions. Example: You might have on an item from act three that boosts your dexterity to 18, but when you go to pick a lock your dex will say minus 1 sometimes. Upon taking off and then equipping the item again, it will work correctly until breaking again
@@absoluteandrew398 Completely agree. There's even more to that, some NPCs I think haven't been finished or fully written. Like that huge mermaid coven sort of a thing with only a minor quest Or in Ethel's house in act 1 you see a lot of letters from another hag "M" who should be in or near Baldur's Gate but you don't hear anything of her later The whole "you can't go to the upper city because if you do the brain will dominate you" felt like a cheap excuse to lock out content The Mindflayer's hunter dad near the park in Baldur's Gate and the list could go on... I also noticed multiple inconsistencies, like in act 3 if you've destroyed the Nightsong and go to speak to Lorroakan, some of your party member will still ask you to discuss your course of action with said destroyed relic. I am totally onboard with BG3 earning the GOTY, it was well deserved. However I think it's fair it didnt get the best narration because it falls a bit behind in this domain, mostly because of all the content that was left unfinished, or "patched" to have an underwhelming conclusion.
@@mushuable I can definitely agree with you on act 3’s state, especially in the earlier versions. I can’t speak on the epilogue though, because I am doing a 2 for one with the new content, both experiencing honor mode and trying to make it to the epilogue at the same time. My game is in Act 3 and almost finished, so I will have more insight after I see the epilogue. Hoping it’s good. Honor mode has been awesome I love how it embodies the actual D&D experience where you have to live with all consequences.
I could see them doing it like Dragon Age 1's Awakening DLC (I don't think it's related or intentional but I think it's funny the epilogue and the setting of Awakening are both set 6 months after their games' ending.) What I mean is, it'd be the same character you played as for the main campaign, with new party members save for 1 or 2 - like how Oghren joins the party or how Alistair or Wynne can make appearances depending on how their stories ended - someone like Shadowheart who has a relatively stable ending regardless (either a sharran or selunite whereas Gale can become a God or Karlach dies) can rejoin the party while Gale or Jaheira could make appearances if their stories permit.
Cyric could be the one that set the Dead Three on the incredibly stupid plan of BG3. Or maybe he just impersonated each of the Dead Three to manipulate the 3 Chosen into enacting that plan. it would be well within his wellhouse. Even Ao couldn't dispute that.
Just got into Baldur’s Gate after seeing my bro play a bit of it, after that sale hit. I just stumbled upon this channel while looking into the lore and knew your voice sounded familiar. Big fan of your other channel too.
Cyric was the best thing about the Avatar Trilogy; his descent into madness, making pretty (at the time) reasonable decisions. One of the best examples of "the road to hell is paved with [well, not 'good,' but 'understandable'] intentions."
bg3 is pretty self contained with sense of emergency. Any expansion before ending would be strange and forced. Additional encounters and content within main story would be good. If a big expansion comes I feel like it would be side journey with some or no carryover or a post game scenario which would be difficult considering all endings
Yeah I feel like dlc would be either epilogue-focused (which seems more likely with patch 5's withers party) or it will be like a small adventure with different characters or something
not really, because of the back and forth between cyric and Bhaal killing each other a few times for the portfolio of murder which is pretty much destroyed at this point resulting in Cyric also being a demigod like the dead 3, he may want to swiftly make his move while the gods are distracted by the events of BG3 and chose to make moves that could help him restore his full godhood
@thegamergriffin2910 I guess but it would still feel weird and out of place. Actually one way I think they could do a proper expansion within context of story is to get Netherease from shadowfell involved and through shenanigans either extend to pusdo act 4 in Faerun or their cities in the shadowfell.
@thegamergriffin2910 thats because the gods keep a tight grip on time, it is potentially the most dangerous thing to mess with both for anyone who tries to mess with it and those who its used on
Not sure I agree, the events of the game are not even close to the first disaster of the area. Its kind of par for the course that giant bad things happen quite frequently. All of D&D is built on the idea that the worlds are in a constant state of bad guys trying to destroy the world and the good guys trying to save it. It would actually be weirder if something else didn't happen and everyone lived happily ever after.
Thanks for this informative content, as I wasn't aware of this since I didn't have a chance to play new epilogue yet. If any rumors about BG3 having dlc are true, I really hope they include our origin characters in it and continue their story after finishing base game. I think that would make sense and would allow us to explore higher levels for our characters with new spells, class abilities etc. Man, now I really hope they'll go for it...
@@fangslore9988 yes and no, but Cyric at some point had power over the domain of the dead as well, until Kelemvor came and took it. You can even witness its effects in Mask of the Betrayer dlc for Neverwinter nights 2
I haven't read the time of troubles books since the 90s. I need to dust them off I guess. Honestly, I would also accept a Larian made game in the literal Dark Sun setting. I know, but let me dream. Maybe the shapeshifting cow will tie in somehow into the expansion story.
Honestly I trust larian to update dark sub for modern day, and make a functional mystic/psionic class over wotc rn. I do think there should be some changes to the setting but i feel like wotc would cute the edges off too much larian has shown they can do complex stories and still be sensitive and inclusive about some of the rougher parts of DND lore. So I'd trust them with it
@@spellandshield nah it's not, sdr William made a great point about it in his dark sun videos. Dark sun has some problemmatic elements, but the main themes of anti authoritarianism, pro enviromentalism and anti slavery themes are all really good and could be pretty well received by a modern audience. But modern wotc is just too lazy to do the work that would need to be done to make it more modern. Of course my take is that cause the mystic class failed to get off the ground and dark sun is primarily psionics, that wotc ain't gonna do anything with it. Hence why I think someone like larian taking over it could be good
An interesting idea. I hypothesis.. I'm curious on how long you think this dlc should be. I personally would love for a full blown expansion personally. The last expansion I enjoyed was the witcher 3 expansion ( I didn't play cyberpunk new expansion forgive me 😂)

ToEE is in Greyhawk so that wouldn't happen. EotB would be cool, but would require them making a wholeass new giant city and making it feel as lived as the Gate but also distinct, so while I'd love it I find it unlikely.
didn't Larian already say the game wouldnt be getting large content DLC? Even going to level 15 would require a whole act's worth of content if not more. And it's confirmed they are already working on their next game
@@spellandshield "[Level 12-20] adventures require a different way of doing things, in terms of antagonists you're going to have to deal with, which require a lot of development to do them properly," Larian founder Sven Vincke told PCGamer this week, when asked about the prospect of Baldur's Gate 3 expansions. "Which would make this much more than an expansion in terms of development effort. A lot of D&D adventures are sub-level 12 for precisely that reason. So it sounds like neat, easy expansion material until you start thinking about it and it's not as easy as one would imagine." There are no outright guarantees Larian will release any Baldur's Gate 3 expansions at all. Speaking to Jeremy Peel for RPS before the 1.0 release, Vincke was cagey about the studio's future endeavours. "We have a number of things that we're working on, that are in early pre-production or concept phase," he said. "We'll see where it goes." He added that "the next year will be a pretty cool period because it will be a lot of experimentation," involving "new techniques and procedures and technology". The big challenge is "to keep the plans manageable". Add to this the fact that Sven has been posting recently about work he's doing on their next project, and the fact that DoS2 did not receive any major DLCs, and it sounds very unlikely BG3 will be getting any
@@noone12748 I think games too often blur the line between DLC and microtransactions. But if a company like FromSoftware puts out a huge DLC like Shadow of the Erdtree I think that's good. On the other hand I think microtransactions should be against the law
Wither's book in the Epilogue is a great way to continue on in a possible story expansion (or sequel if the idea becomes vast enough) It would introduce Cyric as the new antagonist and Wither's statement at the end of the epilogue camp basically saying that "we might need you again" is a good way jump off point
Honestly i would take any DLC for this game. No matter if it was just New Races/Subclass or more companion (Like Alfira or Zevlor). I think if they want Upgrade the game they can just put more extra quest to the main story. They also can make completly new story that happen in the same time but in different place like waterdeep or candelkep. The possibility is huge.
Szass Tam is alive, and red wizards are everywhere, and Astarion personally knows a red wizard. If you do the Necromancy of Thay, it is his book, and would be a beacon for him. He just got his ass whooped and is building his army last I heard of him.
Cyric wasn't really in prison for that long, he was born in 1330s DR, it's late 1490s now in timeline. Majority of edition events took place last 200 years or so..
This well thought out and interesting but what about - hear me oout - what about, it's because Withers is gonna make a mega apocalyspe and the setting will change to Dark Sun
Ok, this seems probable. With addition of note, it looks like a promise. We're certainly ain't getting expansion in 2024, but maybe somewhere in 2026-27 would be probable. Also, Cyric is very fucked-up guy, but man, at least he hates Shar. All my homies hate Shar.
In before we go to the setting of Dark Sun and have to fight Defiler Dragons (which is probably the hardest / highest power scale setting in D&D ever written).
In one of the endings, Gale becomes the god of Ambition, and can take on Shadowheart as his wife. Larian leaves her portfolio open ended, but she would be great as the goddess of Hope. A perfect demesne for a trickster. Riding with that ending, I could see this Dark Sun theory involving those two (and Mystra) as a high-level continuation of the base game.
A fun concept for a DLC is that we find out that the dead three, Cyric, Kelemnvor and everything that transpired because of them was all part of Jergel's plan. Maybe we find out that Jergel knew what was going to happen and orchestrated an elaborate plan to maintain his own divinity or something along those lines and he's been pulling the strings the entire time.
legit squealed, this mf has been in my head for the past month after finishing my first pt, he is/would def be involved in bg3's story, and it's not even hard to place him into the missing pieces of information we're given
Its unclear how shar knew to grab the artifact. Its unclear if the elderbrain (netherbrain) completely orchestrated the absolute plot or if it took advantage of circumstance. In a Dark Urge playthrough it says The Dark Urge hatched the absolute plot with gortash, but the details are murky. How was it that the netherese crown's existence was known to The Dark Urge / gortash or possibly the elderbrain? Another thing that bothers me is a question withers has at the end of act 2. He asks the player why the dead three would amass a souless army when gods derive power from souls. We dont really get a good reason for this imo. We probably never will and this is nothing but "larian doing cool shit thats why", but the idea of the absolute plot itself is so out there that i almost can't see it happening unless Cyric is involved somehow. Maybe he is directly benefitting from the souls of the victims involved
1.Shar didn't know to grab the artifact, Gortash tasked Viconia to retrieve it for him (like a business exchange) and she sent her best agents (shadowheart among them). There are at least 2 books/papers proving this in game. One in Ketherics chambers and the other in House of Grief torture room. 2. What came first, 3 Chosen stealing the Crown of Karsus, or them growing an elderbrain? If the former it's taking advantage, orchestrated if the latter. 3. (Gortash/Durge crown) I interpreted it as if they were their own PC's in a dnd campaign deciding to go on a quest and yoink the crown xD Like how would YOU know about the crown's existence if you were roleplaying pre-betrayal durge? Research of history/magic/infernal. Even Gale is vaguely aware of the Crown. But Cyric can fit too
@@persemus1384 i always thought gortash might have known about the crown due to his time in the house of hope. since we know raphael has had his eyes on it for so long, i imagine gortash learned of it through him. (hell, personal headcanon is that he wanted to steal it only to spite raphael at the first, before realising he could use it for a "greater purpose" for bane, but that's just my personal thoughts)
The DLC are going to be great no matter what, but what is interesting to me are how they are going to do it. Level 7 and onward magic might break the game in terms of power. Are they going to counter that by debuffs making casters scaling weaker, making it a side adventure in the main campaign (like the White Marsh in PoE) or are they gonna force you to multiclass? Like no levels above 12 for one class. I'm curious to new builds that will be possible with higher level cap.
i hope we get to see mincs companions from mindbreaker arent they in 1492 dr too? like the very end was strange or cliff hanger what happen to them? minsc was turned back into a statue...? and his companions just disappeared from the comics...
I love that theory, events of the game certainly shifted balance of power so mad king of aholes most certainly could use it to spread some chaos. It can lead to some really interesting dynamics depending on what state of world you have by the end of game. Like Gale or Tav or any PC can be god himself and have skin in devine game of thrones, or he and Shadowheart can be chosen of Mystra and Shar or Selune respectively, and most likely to be dragged in to this. Tav or other PC is arguably a chosen of Jergal themselves, since they help him to untangle Absolute plot and can be directly empowered by him on multiple occasions. So it's a nice path to higher levels and higher stakes. My only concern is how they going to pull it off gameplay wise, because Larian said many times they choose to limit party at level 12 because it really hard to incorporate higher level magic in the game and still make sense. Like how do you program Wish spell?
it's hard for me to get excited about DLC when everything they've said so far has been that we're not getting full story DLC. we might get a few missions, some more improvements, but that's probably about it.
Tbh this might work with spells being really OP after lvl 12. And having some off the endings in the game (including companions) being semi god hood power
Baldur's Gate II managed to keep the game interesting up to and including level 40, if I rememberr correctly. Essentially, all party members in that game were demigods by the end.
I don’t really care what we get and if it continues the power climb as long as we get a true continuation with our choices in BG3 being imported and reflected by a DLC/ new game. Larian is definitely able to do this and it would really be the final nail in the coffin of the rest of the games industry to show them what they could achieve if they actually care about their games
When you mentioned that three of the origin characters had a relation to divinity I definitely expected you to mention the literal demigod that is the dark urge over lae zel
You think DLC will be post game with the original party, or do you think that's too difficult to reconcile with all the different endings and character arcs?
Jergal is a spell slinger alien race he had 4 arms. Cyric is trapped in the supreme throne for a 1000 years. Everyone forgets about Aiden but oh well. Every edition change in dnd has been the death of mystra. If you want to know more about cyric read the prince of lies trilogy by troy not a horrible read. Gods arent allowed on the material plane anymore. So im not sure but dnd rarely followes its own rules.
I still believe (cope?) that some character endings (Karlach, Lae’Zel, but mostly Karlach since her story is less fleshed out) are a teaser to the DLC. She goes back to Avernus with Tav and Wyll, so you’d already have a full party if you also count Flo, her cambion friend or possibly Mizora? Or maybe have Mizora as an enemy. And she also has a goal: getting her heart back, or a way to make the Infernal Engine work in Faerun. Again, it might be cope, but I’d much rather have this kind of DLC that truly gives Karlach story an ending rather than something about Cyric which would require a full game tbh
I really want an expansion (Act 4) but I need more in the main game with it. New quests, loot, and most importantly, classes/races. I want to be an Aasimar, and there are so many cool classes not in the game. Please give me it Larian!
When i finished my first playthrough, Orpheus invited Lae'zel to come fight against Vlaakith and dismantle the empire. Watching Lae'zel hop on a dragon and fly away had me hyped for an expansion. While a lore-heavy DLC could be good, I think an action-oriented Gith-centric expansion sounds the most fun. Your theory is interesting, but I'm not sure divine drama fits with a high-level expansion. I'd rather fight through an army and take down Vlaakith. I dont expect the same scope in a DLC as the main game, so im less concerned with branching choices and mode interested in a raised level cap and more combat opportunities.
What? No! The Heretic can not be freed from his prison. We must assemble all of His faithful to strike down those that would conspire to do this. In His name. ALL HAIL BANE!
Or, this is what happened to Athas IE, the world of the Dark Sun campaign setting. Hear me out. Athas is about the interplay of two types of magic, one that consumes and destroys and one that... well basically works like normal magic. And on Athas the consuming magic spread and turned the world into a lifeless desert. Notable that the ruins of Netheril became a desert after Karsus' folly. And of course it turns out that Gale's orb, and the crown of the Netherbrain, are both fragments of Karsus' parallel branch of magic. Or I'm reading too much into it.
@@spellandshield To be clear, I'm not suggesting anybody literally visits Athas itself. Simply that the Gods of Faerun would be understandably concerned about a "Dark Sun" event cutting them off from their world, referencing Athas only as a cautionary tale.
Sune banded together with Lathander and Tyr to bring Cryric to justice for unaliving Mystra, she kicked Shar's butt and rescued Sharess from her. She sided with Mystra against Shar and the Shadow Weave. She's friends with Mystra, Selune, Lathander, and Milil, and is is more than willing to go for round 2 with both Shar and Cyric. Point is, it's already a crime she wasn't featured at all in BG3 considering how close she is to the biggest players in the story, and this DLC story would be a good opportunity to correct this mistake and at least include her in the player worship options. She doesn't need a starring role but at least include her, Larian.

indeed tho idk why Cyric was in the vid to have all 3 portfolios of the dead 3 when kelemvor has the portfolio of the god of death ironically its like how Cyric killed Bhaal then Bhaal killed him to regain his portfolio only to yet again be killed by Cyric and the process resulted in Cyric also being a demigod by 15DR

A new Dark Sun game / remake using this engine and format would be EPIC. Shattered Lands was a pioneer in these types of games.
There is also a certain ox with ties to Cyric.
I love your theory and I really hope Larian has this in mind for an expansion. I would be amazing.
Thanks for the video. It’s a pretty compelling narrative and one that I hope we get to see.
However, when I first heard you talk about Dark Sun, I thought you might be talking about the Sorcerer-Kings of Athas. Now there’s a game that I want!
Sadly, I don't think we will ever get the Dark Sun again. The content is not compatible with the current year.

Said "Dark Sun" and I almost had a heart attack. Even though there's no way they'd ever make a DLC set on Athas. But I can dream!

Cyrik?
This aged like MIlk.
In my head canon the setting Dark Sun is Cyric's demi plane and it is anti magic because of his hatred of mystra
That’s pretty awesome, I had no idea about Cyrik. Another thing in the game that just screams future DLC to me is SPOILER
Raphael’s damned portal room.
(several of the tieflings have done this to me, especially the little shopkeeper from druid’s grove- forget the name at the moment)
-Some of the tieflings hanging around outside as refugees *must* be unfinished. In my recent honor mode game as I walked over to them I literally heard a voice line talking saying “Zevlor? You’ve got nerve to show up here” or something (and I had rescued him in act 2)
-The Sharran temple fight with that one lady (again I’m sorry I forgot her name, I’m at work lmao) that fight completely broke for me at the end. We had her stunned, and after killing all her sharran cronies, she never broke out of the stun, and her AI was broken. So I had to just kill her without getting the usual dialogue line with Shadowheart.
-Arfur Gregorio paints you and your entire party portraits of yourselves if you so desire, but you cannot pick up easels with you to mount them on at your camp
Certain items in ACT 3 are not working correctly, or showing ability scores/damage numbers correctly as they supposedly alter them in their descriptions.
Like that huge mermaid coven sort of a thing with only a minor quest
Or in Ethel's house in act 1 you see a lot of letters from another hag "M" who should be in or near Baldur's Gate but you don't hear anything of her later
The whole "you can't go to the upper city because if you do the brain will dominate you" felt like a cheap excuse to lock out content
The Mindflayer's hunter dad near the park in Baldur's Gate
and the list could go on...
I could see them doing it like Dragon Age 1's Awakening DLC (I don't think it's related or intentional but I think it's funny the epilogue and the setting of Awakening are both set 6 months after their games' ending.)
What I mean is, it'd be the same character you played as for the main campaign, with new party members save for 1 or 2 - like how Oghren joins the party or how Alistair or Wynne can make appearances depending on how their stories ended - someone like Shadowheart who has a relatively stable ending regardless (either a sharran or selunite whereas Gale can become a God or Karlach dies) can rejoin the party while Gale or Jaheira could make appearances if their stories permit.
Imagine Cyric taking over the crown, or intead of controling mortals, he tries to control gods.
Cyric could be the one that set the Dead Three on the incredibly stupid plan of BG3. Or maybe he just impersonated each of the Dead Three to manipulate the 3 Chosen into enacting that plan. it would be well within his wellhouse. Even Ao couldn't dispute that.
not Bhaal when Dark Urge is there, imagine if it was never him
Just got into Baldur’s Gate after seeing my bro play a bit of it, after that sale hit. I just stumbled upon this channel while looking into the lore and knew your voice sounded familiar. Big fan of your other channel too.
Cyric was basically the first novelized murder hobo.
Cyric was the best thing about the Avatar Trilogy; his descent into madness, making pretty (at the time) reasonable decisions.
One of the best examples of "the road to hell is paved with [well, not 'good,' but 'understandable'] intentions."
Astarion could have been another Cyric, and is if he ascends; just with the change of a cloak.
bg3 is pretty self contained with sense of emergency.
So I'd trust them with it
No one will ever touch Dark Sun again, as much as I would love it. The setting is...inappropriate for our times.

So it sounds like neat, easy expansion material until you start thinking about it and it's not as easy as one would imagine."
There are no outright guarantees Larian will release any Baldur's Gate 3 expansions at all.

It would introduce Cyric as the new antagonist and Wither's statement at the end of the epilogue camp basically saying that "we might need you again" is a good way jump off point
Doesn't The Strange Ox say something about Cyric if you help him get into Baldurs Gate?
Honestly i would take any DLC for this game. No matter if it was just New Races/Subclass or more companion (Like Alfira or Zevlor). I think if they want Upgrade the game they can just put more extra quest to the main story. They also can make completly new story that happen in the same time but in different place like waterdeep or candelkep. The possibility is huge.

AND IT BETTER COME WITH BEING ABLE TO RECRUIT ALFIRA
Larian said they are against selling incomplete games via paid DLCs clearly, on the other hand, they also said they might be open for DLC...
Second I heard of Dark Sun, I thought of Dark Sun
@@NEOKUWATER That's a good catch
Didnt they fire like the entire team already
I would love a modern Dark sun game, would love to see Athas In all its glory
my theory is Cyric orchestrated everything
i hope we get to see mincs companions from mindbreaker arent they in 1492 dr too? like the very end was strange or cliff hanger what happen to them? minsc was turned back into a statue...? and his companions just disappeared from the comics...
Larian is definitely able to do this and it would really be the final nail in the coffin of the rest of the games industry to show them what they could achieve if they actually care about their games
other games have done high level campaigns before. it can be done if they want to
When you mentioned that three of the origin characters had a relation to divinity I definitely expected you to mention the literal demigod that is the dark urge over lae zel
Larian: "NO"
Nah man I'm coping but I think we going to athas baby dark sun setting sweep. (Jk this a good video! Good eye.)
You think DLC will be post game with the original party, or do you think that's too difficult to reconcile with all the different endings and character arcs?
Kelemvor vs Cyric themed expansion? Jergal seems to like Kelemvor alot, since he really threats your Cleric well if your patron is him.
No mention of the highly eloquent Strange Ox?! :)
I thought the studio said they weren’t doing a dlc ?
Jergal is a spell slinger alien race he had 4 arms. Cyric is trapped in the supreme throne for a 1000 years. Everyone forgets about Aiden but oh well. Every edition change in dnd has been the death of mystra. If you want to know more about cyric read the prince of lies trilogy by troy not a horrible read. Gods arent allowed on the material plane anymore. So im not sure but dnd rarely followes its own rules.
Is there a difference between gods and idk like celestial beings/forces of nature? It seems all gods were once mortal.
No, only a few of them were once mortal.
When I saw “Dark Sun” I thought we were gonna talk about Athas 😔
You said dark sun, and i thought OMG A DARK SUN GAME...
But then I remembered HasbroWOTC won't even acknowledge the existance of Athas.
Indeed.
as long as we can kill Mystra and Zariel in the dlc I will be satisfied
Athas and Dark Sun do not fit the politics of the current year. It will never happen as a campaign.
Are you suggesting a Mad Max D&D experience? I love that idea!
@@spellandshield To be clear, I'm not suggesting anybody literally visits Athas itself. Simply that the Gods of Faerun would be understandably concerned about a "Dark Sun" event cutting them off from their world, referencing Athas only as a cautionary tale.
@@spellandshieldwhat makes them "politically incorrect"?
