I like to do these while hooking my heels over something immovable and pull toward my glutes so I can fire my hamstrings thereby inhibiting my hip flexors (like with a Janda sit-up).

Curious that you say pull the weight back down. I've been practicing with antagonist muscles, so the negative isn't just loosening your pressing muscles till the weight comes down, but engaging the pull muscles to overpower the pushers, causing the negative motion. After some reps, I'm tensing the pullers during the press, and it feels like a negative going up, because the shoulders have to overpower the lats.

I've to confess… I really don't like TGUs, high windmills and all other techniques where a giant cannonball is supported over my head (don't know about you, but I only have one head for life) with one hand at unnatural angles. Overhead press is a natural movement pattern and has a practical application. But holding a 24kg Simba above the raising floodwaters while ceremoniously performing Kama Sutra poses?… That's a nope from me.
Two-handed single bell techniques, on the other hand, are pretty much always safe and fun.

To each their own. I’ve been doing TGU’s for almost 2 decades. Never had to bail on a rep or had a mishap. I worked up to the 48kg KB and then learned barbell TGU’s to chase more weight (heavier than 48kg wasn’t a thing back then). I had one sketchy moment with the barbell that was enough for me to stop and go back to KB’s. I’ve never felt unsafe with those. I guess that was my risk/reward “nope” point.

a 'low level of fail for humanity', is it not plausible that some cohort might have issues with getting it up, however mark's experience could still help them, not offensive per se, but let's tighten up the language here guys please.......
