I have a request. Can you expose Lofree on how it handles their potential customers right now? Lofree doesn't make Hades as a default. The Price goes above $130 + VAT that way. They also promote 90 switches but don't get the issue to sell a 100 keys keyboard with it.
Absolutely loved the presentation! Especially the breakdown of the switches and their compatibility. I’ve been looking everywhere for more information on this.
I love tactile but the silent one on this board is very tempting. It's great to see finally low profile models getting the care we've been waiting for.
I have signed up for the keyboard, I am pretty excited to hear more about it. I hope they fix their spacebar and improve the software. I don't know why companies don't like to implement VIA.
I was really excited for that marketing of $69. Up until now where they have stated that all keyboards will come with a default switch. So if you want hades (the new silent switch which many are a fan of) you have to add it separately to your order, which also will add an additional shipping cost on top of the shipping for the keyboard itself. So for me (in the US) that $69 turned into 125! Just to add the switches I want and the high shipping costs. If you are fine with this more power to you, shipping does cost money, but it's misleading on lofree to have never pointed out until the end of the campaign, that you can't actually choose the switches you want, and by adding them you double the price of the purchase. Additional the switches they offer only come in packs of 90, so have fun ordering more if you get the full-sized option.
I love typing on my Flow, but its disappointing to see that they still haven't 'resolved' the 'shine-through' keycaps design. I've seen various solutions (Nuphy keycaps, etc.) but I wish they had their own keycaps to choose from but its slim pickings for the Flow series. Great video though! I appreciate the in-depth look through the Flow LITE.
They are compatible with the original Flow - regretfully, I don’t do an audio comparison because this video was focussed on the Flow Lite and each sound test takes a significant amount of time to create, so I limited the focus to the Lite.
On the plus side: It's cheaper, has 2.4g, and programmable firmware. On the negative side, it's all plastic, only has white LEDs, doesn't use VIA, and it's still $130. The IQunix Magi65 is better in every single way for cheaper, imo. It's full aluminum, RGB programmable backlighting, VIA compatible, 2.4g or 3 BT channels, and is $120.
Can I ask if there’s visible yellowing in the white flow lite ever since you’ve reviewed it? Do you think the textured ABS picks up dirt and sweat? Or makes it harder to clean?
I haven’t noticed any yellowing since I’ve had the Flow Lite. I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually picks up some dirt transfer from fingers, but I wouldn’t expect it to wipe away in that case - nothing like this has been noticeable so far.
Awesome video, quick question, as like the lofree flow, you couldn’t adjust the sleep/inactivity timer or disable it. Can the Lite allow us to disable or adjust the time it takes for the keyboard to go to sleep ?
Good question. I haven’t found a way to do this yet, so I don’t think so - but perhaps this is something you can request for integration with the forthcoming web-app
i was hopeful at first, but hearing the back to back with the original put me off of it. the original is so much better sounding, probably because of the metal housing. the lite sounds fine, but a huge part of it too, is the space bar, which sounds much more hollow and rattly on the lite than the original. i'd rather they make a Flow 2, with all the same additions as the lite, 2.4ghz, the knob, adjustable feet, etc, but with the same inner construction and outer housing as the original. even if i'm not a fan, it is still nice to see a bit cheaper option. i was considering the Air75 V2 from nuphy, but only if i could swap their switches for the kailh phantoms the original flow uses, so it's good i watched this anyway, because i didn't know they weren't compatible with each other, which is unfortunate.
Yes, look for low profile switches - they should be fairly standardized sizing. You have to make sure your peripheral keys are appropriately sized in the kit you buy, but they are standardized ✌🏻
Hmm im wondering why your backlights are not bright. I’ve seen many other review videos of the Flow Lite and their backlights SHINES! You can clearly see it!
It’s a balance of studio lighting - I don’t find them to be dim, it’s more that they cause an uneven lighting of the shinethrough keycaps that makes the characters challenging to read (at least in this colour). It’s almost like each character has some vignetting.
i thought the same as well. is it possible that the colour of the keycaps affect this? so far of the videos i have watched, the white and pink does not seem to have this issue, but the grey one does?
Hi Jake, very nice video there. I enjoyed it very much, quick question, typing feel and sound profile of Lofree Flow and the new Flow Lite, which one do you prefer? Does it differs alot? I'm torn between these both, also I particularly love ThinkPad's keyboard, do you think the Flow mimick that?
I’m afraid I’m not very familiar with ThinkPad keyboards (I’m a Mac guy mostly). Regarding the Flow vs Lite, the main feel difference I notice is with the more aggressive concavity of the Flow (which I like) - for sound, I think the Flow is deeper than the Lite, which I again prefer - that said, I do like the Lite sound and feel… and I think the other benefits of the Lite outweigh the little differences - but if you don’t care about those things than go with the Flow ✌🏻
@@JakeReevesVideo Hi Jake, thank you so much for your prompt reply, your advice is so much appreciated. Yeah, I don't really need the 2.4 connectivity, the knob nor the customisation function. So I will go with the Flow. Thank you once again! Cheers!
I'm really into those lower height mechanical boards, be it Nuphy or Lofree or other brands. But as long as they keep releasing all their boards with those weird layouts I ain't buying. Give me a simple regular TKL layout. Just a normal board without a numpad. I need my board for daily 8hour work too, besides gaming. And any of those cramped 75% boards or other special layout just messes up my productivity at work.
Attention Silent switch shopper. Shipping start from US$12 to US$55 depending where you are. Hades switch is not an option, Add-on for Hades is $40 a pop and only content 90 switches (good luck if you go for Flow100). The "affordable" flow lit 84 keyboard is now 69 + 12 + 40 =🦄$121 🦄 or for Flow lite 100 = 💕$171!!!💕
Lofree and their deceptive marketing practices! The $69 launch is a sham since the shipping adds up especially if you purchase add ons. And the Hades switches are not included by default. Boycott Lofree!
How did you get the keyboard for review? When I wrote to them tthe didn’t even respond. And I wrote from my company mail. We are one of the largest companies in Europe so they should have an interest in letting me test them for our department.
I’ve had a relationship with them for a little over a year now. Best to continue reaching out. Make it very clear what your channel offers, and what a collaboration with you would look like, what would be produced and why they should care - always be humble - companies these days have many opportunities and only so many samples to share, I always go in optimistic, but expecting them to have a better opportunity elsewhere for any number of reasons.
@@JakeReevesVideo my problems is that I don’t have a channel but I’m merely a software developer and in my department we have bought a lot of Logitech MX Keys that don’t play well Bluetooth wise with Dell Precision laptops. So I wanted to test one for a week or two and lend it out to other developers to see if they like it.
Then you need to write up why their investment of a single unit will yield benefit to them - what is the return? How close to a guarantee is it? Companies have varying risk profiles and usually want to be guaranteed something in return. Ultimately you may have to wait, purchase one on Kickstarter, then try to negotiate a better bulk price order.
This is particularly noticeable with the Hades switches, but I agree - needs a bit of TLC. Though, it’s definitely way more prominent in the video compared to real life - likely a mic-related artifact

The Hades Silent Linear is butter. Wow, what a nice quiet sound.
Only buying this one because of the Hades switches. This is the most silent low profile switch I have seen here in YT which is best for office use.
I heard you have to buy Hades switch separately. There's no flow lite that comes with hades switches according to their reddit page
@sioneunju that would be too bad - I suspect a good number of people would only care for the Hades.
@@sioneunju wait what?! that is sad. A good marketing ploy but sad.

you can go with the xvx low profile shine throughs
Phantom and ghost sounded very different with the lite maybe due to the plastic body.

yes! thought of the same. killing point is the lack of VIA support. real pity lofree insists on going their own proprietary software.
Are they bringing keycaps for Mac ?
@jackson159 they have dual OS keycaps right now, so I would not expect Mac-specific ones.
