Spoiler Alert
I love the character of Joel in the show. Yes, he did mess up his life badly but he was lost. And it is very real and human to me. Then he tried his best to find himself, such as working hard to fix the family business while taking care of kids, punching the manager who didn't pay Midge, speaking up at the resort on behalf of the family and supporting her with her career choice at the family dinner, even he didn't want to be the topic of her comedy (fair enough).
While we blame on Joel cheated on the Midge, we seem to forget that Midge cheated on her finance, Ben.
Comparing this Joel and Midge, I found Joel spend a bit more time with the kids then Midge.
The scene when Joel was drunk and begged for forgiveness really touched my heart.
Anyway, just want to share that I think the character Joel was well written and acted out.
I agree that the character was well written and VERY well acted, and I also agree that he did, in many ways, start to redeem himself... However, I wouldn't compare their cheating. Since the moment Midge realized what it meant that she accepted the tour and her conversation with her father suggest, loud and clear, that her relationship with Ben is over. Yes, we don't know if she talked to him and weather or not he knows it's over, but there is no intention on Midge's part to continue to deceive him and to have an affair with both of them..
I think the “affair” with Penny isn’t reason enough to blame Joel for anything. Sure, cheating is never a great thing to do and all, but look at her, she was a replacement Midge. He was scared of losing Midge and got a replacement. Jerk-ish thing to do? Sure. But does it really condemn the character to an eternity of jerk-dom? No fucking way. He’s a good guy and he loves her and I think that’s all that counts.
What a beautiful and amazing show! Love both Rachel and Michael and their characters ❤️❤️❤️

I just love looking at her talking and her voice starts to fade away and it's still so fun and warm and so enjoyable.
She is such a great actress, brings so much life to her character. And she is also absolutely beautiful
And Michael is a great actor, he kinda reminds me of Alex Turner

Worst interviewer.... They were very kind to him.... They are both so sharp that they actually did their own interview...
WORST interviewer EVER! He wasn't prepared, he wasn't paying attention to the answers, he did not add anything to the conversation! It was a disaster... C'mon, Oath, this guy needs an intervention, to say the least.

I actually was waiting for some musical scene ( thank god it never came....sorry for the fans of the genera). Great show....everyone should watch it.
English is not my first language, I am somewhat proficient in the language but when people (like Adele) speaks so quickly....I have trouble understanding. Rachel speaks super fast.......somehow I get every word. I love her so much.
She was SO good in House of Cards, can't wait to see her in this

agree with other comments...interviewer really should've done his research prior to interviewing these two, INCLUDING watching the entire show and how to pronounce, "maisel".
Joel is NOT a jerk? I don’t understand why people seem to dislike him; he’s got reasons for everything he does and watching his emotions change his actions is so mesmerising. Understandable and great character.
My favorite binge worthy show on Amazon Prime and the winner of eight Emmys isn't bad either.
The interviewer couldn't even pronounce the name of the show he is paid to discuss. Good thing he is pretty cause he ain't smart.
And right after mispronouncing it he says how he LOVES the show haha ☺️🤦🏻♀️
(Not to mention it’s a show where they literally say the name maisel every other sentence hahah)

I was watching the pilot and I was like okay that's Rachel from HoC but that Joel guy .. omg I couldn't figure out who he was! Then I literally slapped my forehead🤦♀️ it was that idiot Randall from TWD!!

Don't get me wrong, Jack Gleeson seems quite a nice person, a great actor, but his character, Joffrey is one the most hated characters in years. Zegan is just well casted...as unlikable as in real life.
