Late to the party, just discovered The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and binge watched all four seasons in two days over Easter. Moved to NYC in 1969 as a Australian kid from an American USN dad and Aussie mum, 3 older sisters and brother. Like a walk down memory lane. Brilliant production in every way 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I wasn't sure about this show, and then I watched the first episode and was HOOKED. These are some talented people and amazing writing. To anyone reading this, I HIGHLY suggest you watch this! I cannot wait for Season 4.

big mistake to not have luke kirby on this panel. i've been a longtime fan of many of the actors on this stage. but luke was new to me and his performance blew me away.
Same. I was instantly enthralled by his Lemny Bruce. I would have loved to see Zachary Levi too. Both were brilliant 👏

Brilliant series. It's so rare to laugh out loud while you're watching a show...and I laugh my guts out with the lovely Mrs Maisel. The dialogues are simply perfect and the performances are great! And oh the music. Oh the clothes. Oh the fifties

Her writing comes off more sophisticated than she does; although, like Suzy, I think she hides her fear behind crudeness and vulgarity.

I was so sad when Abe and Rose left Paris. What a great apartment! Abe said he had to go back because of his work at Columbia which subsequently fell apart! Wouldn’t it had been fun if they stayed in Paris.. or let’s take them back. I love this couple!!!
I only wanted to watch this series because I was still hooked on the 50s-60s period series (mainly because of the costumes) after watching Mad Men. I am so glad I decided to. Watching it recovered me from the heavy feeling of Mad Men. I also didn't expect the writing to be so good! Loved it so much. I hope it continues to be great! :)
I had the exact same feeling after departing from Mad Men and watching Mrs. Masiel. The change in writing, and atmosphere makes a difference. Interestingly, I noticed Joel's office is a bit reminiscent of Don Draper's office in the first season of mad men but it shows the differences in mood and tone set by the Palladinos vs Matthew Weiner
I could listen to alex borstein all day. she is fascinating.
Joel Maisel was played so well by Michael Zegen, so much emotions that many men can relate to, and his efforts and emotions are not in vain, reciprocated by Miriam Maisel 😊
How Joel interacted with that underground gambling crowd is hilarious. I wish to see more of that Mei-Ling character.

I love the litany of poetic obscenities so beautifully strung together by the characters. So nice to have an adult show to watch instead of some comic book super hero BS, or "reality show" nonsense. This is well done,...by all involved.
can't wait for Season 4 either, but hopefully the Sophie Lennon thread is done...I had to fast forward through that

What a valuable meet up. The Paley has filled in many holes from the show that pertain to the actors' realities, and that introduces the writer/directors. Never enough, but in your short time, barely enough for the moment. History of this show will prominently include this presentation of interviews. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I even took my my phone to the shower while watching just so I won't miss it. That's how good this is!
Susie has me in stitches. It’s rare that I can get hysterical over a tv character but she gets me rolling. And each actor in this show is unique and so darn enjoyable. I was sad that Season 4 went so quickly. The scene at the wedding when she grabbed a bunch of gifts had me peeing my pants. XO.

Yes. I don't buy many DVD, but I would buy the whole series. I also love Tony Shaloub, so I have the entire "Monk" series. I love vintage and the clothes she wears are gorgeous. A good series is fun watching several times.

Same here, I saw the first episode, and got hooked binged on all 4 seasons and watched them all In a very short time.
Love the story line, the characters, and the amazing costuming and sets!!
While thinking about writing one or two stories inspired from my early adulthood/ teenager life events, I decided to set the time period not later than the 80s although I was born in the 90s because I did not want social media and the internet to be involved, haha seeing someone with that genius say the same thing kinda gives reassurance lol
Fantastic show...for someone who grew up in a similar atmosphere, it brings back a lot of vivid memories from the late '50's and early 60's. Great writing and acting all the way through.

Michael's wrong, at least in my house - Joel's turn to being a sympathetic character in Season 2 was as surprising as it was enjoyable - waaaaaaaaay more sympathetic than Bugsy Siegel. We've been pulling for Joel since he got to the Steiner Resort :)

My God, I love this. People need to STOP trying to kill/CANCEL comedy! Stop being offended by oxygen! This is brilliant. I didn't know this show existed until last night, but I'll be binging until I get through all of them.
Very good discussion. Would like to see a similar panel with the people involved in the production such as the choreographer, costume designer, cinematographer, musical director, camera people, writers, set designers, editors etc. (Maybe there is one, I'll have to look and see).

There were several moments through out the series where Midge was forced to accept that in order to truly be successful and go for it career wise, she needed to fully sacrifice everything else for her art.. from her meeting the artist, where he shows her his "secret artwork" to Lenny Bruce singing about vwinf all alone during a bit, and the majority of his story, Shys plot.. the director and writer's showing us her alone in her giant apartment isnt that much of a shock to be honest. She made it. Exactly how she knew she would. Her life was measured by huge success, lots of amazing experiences, but there was definitely a price of admission for her fame. I loved this series. So sad it is over

Kind of a bomber that they didn't mention the role the black characters play, creating the beautiful sounds, a period of music and entertainment brought this country a giant step forward in the integration revolution.That sound and part of the story is very instrumental in Race being recognized and given credit. Shi Baldwin should have been represented on that stage as an essential part of the production!

Alex Borstein (aka Susie) is friggin’ HOT! Who knew?? (Well, probably many folks, but I watched the whole series again right before this, and I had Susie’s look so deeply etched into my brain that seeing Alex here was a total mind f-k, lol!)
Now insert this into the Alex Borstein sphere... She's Ms. Swan from Mad TV. Queen of "He looka like a man". And Lois Griffin on Family Guy. She's amazing all around.

As someone from the Bay Area, I wonder, how do you pronounce Marin Hinkle's first name. Here, it would be /muh-RIN/. The only person I ever knew who said it as /MARE-in/ was from Ohio. However, I want to know how she likes her name pronounced!

I really enjoyed this series. Good characters and plot. The dialogue was like a machine gun and at times felt a bit flabby and overwhelming but season 3 trimmed it to being sharp and punchy. Much better.
